I had surgery on both my knees for this problem squatting was so uncomfortable & was caused by my fibula bones being to prominent had them shaved down and the bicep reattached pretty easy surgery to recover from
Where did you do it and what is the time to recover
@@26xkira 2 months back to full fitness and Leicester uk
I have done my research and what I’ve gathered is that everyone who has this may not have it for the same reason, some people maybe trauma, some may be born with it, some maybe pulled something and developed this, identifying the reason this developed is also key to identifying how to fix, not everyone is required surgery to fix but some unfortunately are. I don’t know it all but I’m pretty confident in what I stated above.
I think I pulled something how can I fix it?
Seems very good
I was able to fix my right knee from popping but it’s still consistent in my left knee (which I’m trying to fix right now). I don’t really recommend anyone do it the way I fixed it but I was so fed up with it popping every time I squatted I didn’t care, so I brute forced a stretch that moved the entire head in the correct position. Like I said I don’t recommend anyone to try it because it might be an issue down the road but for about a year my right knee has stopped popping and there’s zero pain in squatting or any activity. What I did was a bent over stretch, put both my arms in between my legs, pushed outward with my arms so my knees stayed in place, created maximum stretch on my hips by leaning forward as much as possible, lifted my foot by the front and kept my heel planted in place, turned my leg with the lifted food outward as far outward as possible while keeping my foot generally flat as possible and then pushed the front of my foot to the ground forcefully. It took about 20 minutes of doing this, and after awhile it starts to hurt the back of your knee from bent over stretching in the fully contracted position, but when I got it, it felt like my entire shin and muscle to the side of my shin had moved. After that I haven’t had the popping in my right knee since then, it’s a very intricate stretch which isn’t working for my left side but I’ll update it if I can get it to fix my left side too
Is there any way we can go in call or can you reply to explain this to me a little better, I’ve struggled with this since 8th grade and I’m currently 18 I’m so done with it and I’m going to try. PLEASE REPLY
When you say bent over do you mean standing or sitting?
Did anyone figure out how to fix this?
I thought it was normal, finally after 10-15 years of struggling with it, I asked my PT doctor about it and he had no idea, sent me to orthopedic doctor, who finally diagnosed it, said I need surgery because my knee compensates during squatting especially with weight and causing burning sensation under knee cap.
My problem is similar to this but not exact. It’s almost as if it is my fibularus longus muscle on my left leg that pops out when i do heavy squats. It doesn’t hurt at all but it is alarming. My right leg is fine, it just happens to my left leg below the knee area.
I finally found it I think the cause of this injury for me was deadlifting too heavy because my PE teacher forced (I was a weak sophomore) it it’s been a good year and a half since I can squat low it just pops it was never painful but as a wrestler I feel like I should be concerned especially since I constantly get my left leg attacked grabbed and am constantly in a stance if anyone knows what to do about it please let me know
24yr old male, had this issue on my left knee for as long as i can remember, with the issue getting worse over time (however, this could be several factors, including ski trauma, although i was never injured to my knowledge, but i certainly had my fair share of falls, shifting from swimming to running and cycling, and in general more sitting and less overall activity, down from 10hrs of serious swinning to maybe taking 3*45min runs a week). Might be related: The leg i have issues with also has some snapping in the hip, on the outside, and is the one i usually put on my knee when sitting, while the "good" side is less flexible and i cant sit comfortably with legs crossed (and my left ankle on my right knee). The issue went from not being able to do bodyweight squats without pain all the way down (i remember my trainer not being happy about me doing squats "half way" at 10years old, thats why i am certain this issue persisted) to moderate pain after 30mins of either cycling or running.
I am also 24 years old and have this problem as well, with the hip component too. I'm praying for everyone's recovery from this grueling and stressful situation.
What you doing with it how you fix it@@tanyachaudhary09
How you fix it ?
I had this problem with both knees, I have just undergone surgery to have it sorted it, still in process of recovery and struggling really bad with the flex of the knee (3 months after). My surgeon has never done this op or doesn’t know any surgeon that has. Very rare! If all goes well and heals nicely, other knee will be done aswell.
How much time it takes for fully recovery
6-7months
How are you now
Really good, back playing football and working doing everything I was doing! It’s all about keeping it with pysio! I’m looking forward to getting my right knee done so that snapping goes away completely!
Where I did this surgery (I am someone who is afraid of operations and these things) What do I do@@jamiebuchan5356
A mí. Ya. No me quisieron operar. De. Fractura luxación de clavícula. Y me mandaron a hacer estos ejercicios
Do you have any tips to fix a snapping biceps femoris tendon? I would greatly appreciate it, I can't find anything about it. It seems to be very uncommon and I don't know what to do
tight knee bandages or taping can stop the snapping, which, at least for me, is what causes pain for me. If i avoid snapping and especially snapping under higher loads, i dont have any issue. If i force my tendon in place by holding it with my hand (or a bandage) the pain immediately stops, even when flexing to a point where snapping would occur normally.
I have this I’ve been disabled from it since 21 I’ve been to at least 200 drs in this time. I keep telling them the exact spots it snaps but none will listen. My whole life wasted I’m 45 now and because imagining shows nothing they just send you on your way. I’m tired of living like this but hang on for my daughter I don’t know what to do or where to turn. It caused severe bursitis the pain is so severe some days I want to go God pls help me my baby needs me. 😢🙏🏼
I have had this since I was 10 years old (now 25), but it happens only few time in a year if even that. Hurts like hell
Same issue happens right 90 degrees for me when squatting. Only thing that kinda helps is using a massage gun on my hamstring for 30 min before i squat, that or i do a wider stance when squatting so i only go down to about a 100 degree ssquat.
Por cuanto tiempo
Después de ver el documental "el gran cirujano del engaño", está de pensarse !
I advise to get a knee specialist to have a look. I had snapping also, this was a result of a torn tendon that had not healed correctly. The surgeon untangled the mess and reattached the tendon to the fibular head. Its healing nicely and im expecting to recover nicely. No snapping exists now! I struggled with finding information on this before and took 4 physios before I found the right person to look at it and perform a fix. 5% of people have had this issue, you will be lucky to find a surgeon who has done this more than once. I am from the UK, east of England if this helps. Happy to answer any questions
How can i fix this problem
@@26xkira surgery was the solution for me, unknown to me the biceps femoris had split and not healed correctly due to an injury, it won't show on MRI or ultrasound. The surgeon made an small incision above the fibular head and found the issue and re-attached the tendon with a single tissue anchor. If you can see a knee specialist explain this too them, I see mine in April for a follow-up but everything is ok now and there's no snapping!
@@DJN1K3 For me i have a hip problem i feel like its spinning when I walk around and I feel pain in my knee on the inside plus my heel hurts constantly
@@DJN1K3 How long was your treatment after surgery and would you advise people to stay away from squats ?
@@26xkira for this kind of operation it's 6 months recovery till back to normal. I'm doing things little at a time and seeing how I feel the following day, it's like running for the first time, you need to take it easy.

thank you.
How to get rid of this ?
I don't think this is an uncommon thing. I've had it for years (Squats) aggrevate it. I can train around it by stopping the knee bend just before the 'snap' or changing my stance. Another thing that worked for me is wrapping the biceps femoris tendon with a floss band or piece of bicycle tyre wrapped around it.
Gracias por el video... un poco de explicación serviría

How serious is this issue, and how long does it take for the surgery. What's the recovery time after surgery?
@@271nitin surgery took 4 hours it took almost 4/5 months to fully recover I feel much better now
I had surgery to fix this two months ago. Had a cast for 6 weeks and now a brace. I do some basic rehabilitation practices. In the coming weeks (0-3) its the prognosis that the leg will be trained for 50% and from then (3-6) to 100%. Feel free to ask me anything.
Where was the knee snapping? From the front of the knee, or the side? And how Long does it take to your knee to fully heal and stuff? 😀😀
@@zybo1901 from the side, exactly the same as the video. After 3,5 months its good enough to walk. And after 6 months you’re clear to do everything (snowboarding, kickboxing, etc) 😃
@@MrDarthOPA thanks for the reply👍👍
I have this same issue, while there is little information out there. I’m curious if having this means you need surgery? Mine doesn’t hurt when it moves but it’s very annoying when I’m doing my workouts.
Hi @mrdarthopa. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Where did you feel pain related to the syndrome? I myself feel it in the hamstring and the hip?
¿Cual es la causa de rotura de ese tendón? ¿Es frecuente que suceda o más bien es algo que casi nunca pasa?
Un golpe o caída muy fuerte. Se entienda la rodilla abierta
I would strongly recommend anyone looking to fix this issue, transition away from regular shoes to "barefoot" shoes and do the required exercises to rebuild you foot/arch strength, then work through the "knees over toes guy" (youtube it) routine to build and stretch out your lower body as a whole.
Not gonna help i also have fibula sticking out
Thats what i have done for over a year now and it still persist,is surgery the only option 😢
Surely the previous surgeons had awesome videos too from their first surgery. Why don´t you show images of how it ended?
I have the same on left knee

I have this combined with a more prominent fibular head on my right side whereas my left looks "normal" I personally found that working the glutes helped to increase the range of motion without snapping but it still persists without the pain, right now I'm working the shin muscles and doing glute work
I have same on left . Fibula is sticking out more on left side and snapping is stronger ot left side . I also have knee pain under the knee cap.
I’m a hybrid athlete (powerbuilding and long distance running) who developed snapping hamstrings quite recently. For me, it’s an inside hamstring (semitendinosus/gracilis) pop that happens at the extreme top end of knee extension. So far, I’ve reduced the pain to non-existence, but the popping remains. To treat the issue, I’ve increased volume of stretching and mobility, decreased quad volume, increased glute/hamstring/calf/accessory volumes, and added daily soft-tissue work focused on the groin, piriformis, calf and lower back. With squats, I’ve moved to an elevated heel, higher bar positioning, lighter weights, and a tempo lift. Took two weeks off from running, but returned with a very low volume, low time, easy run with 10% increase in volume every two weeks (previously running an average of 40 miles per week.) I’m 35, 5’10, 215lbs (range from 205-235) at 15% bf in bulking season, and natty (for now 😂.) any advice would be helpful.
barefoot shoes + exercises to transition and "knees over toes guy" routine
@@JohnDoe-fy9cv exercises to transition? Looking for greater clarification. The issue is still here, just nowhere near as bad. The hamstring and flute work has really helped along side the mobility and stretching.

@@aymaneelassali1656 I have, thank you!
I have this same problem for 2 years now went to PT twice. After all stretching foam rolling, and strength if exercises the problem still remains. When I walk I feel like it constantly needs to snap on extension behind the leg. It’s extremely frustrating. The only time I have relief is when the hamstring is warmed up from an exercise such as hamstring curls, but it only temporarily goes away, then comes back… any suggestions? MRIs all perfect too
