Loved Boycott as a summariser despite being a Lancastrian. Such a shame he was moved on a year or two too early as he didn't tick enough boxes and diversity hires became of first importance.
took the great man an age to figure out what was going on...he should have known better, Aggers was known all over the country for that kind of stuff....the lad in the back had a hard time restraining himself ;-) the good old days
Aggers getting his in, 25 years after getting done up like a Kipper by Fred Trueman and Jack Bannister over fast bowlers hahaha. Boycott was right though about it being politics interferring with the sport.
In my low spirits I enjoy listening Boycott,Aagnw commentaary on you tube! Today my prayers for speedy recovery of Sir Boycott from cancer he is battling in hospital
I’ve got another one they could try on him. The ICC are going to erase the records of all wife beating misogynistic tw@ts who love the sound of their own voice a bit too much.
This one and the one where Johnners set Jonathan Agnew up with Fred Trueman and Jack Bannister to talk about the dearth of fast bowlers in English cricket. Nowhere else in the world and in no other sport do you see this. I never tire of either but this guy one is my favourite of the two.
I was fortunate to hear this live on the day.the last great comedy moment on Tms I feel,it's poorer for the missing characters like geoffrey, Blowers, CMJ,even Graeme swann with his improptu impressions..too polished, professional and inclusive now.
Heh, I thought it odd at the time that Aggers mentioned this press release several times during his commentary stints previous to this one. He does seem to dislike them usually, and only reads them out because he has to, and then moves on. Only after the punchline was delivered did I realise why he gave this one special attention beforehand!!
He did one of those Radio Four "In the Psychiatrist Chair" programmes/interviews with the late, great Irish Psychiatrist and broadcaster Professor Anthony Clare. I seem to recall Boycott was very uncomfortable at times. I also recall Michael Parkinson, something of a mate of Boycott apparently, having him on his programme when Boycott had been sacked as Yorkshire captain. I seem to recall Boycott was given a pretty easy time as, almost unchallenged, he gave his side of the story. It wasn't one of Parkinson's finest moments.
i guess even as a player there was that kinda awkward side to his personality, i used to get the feeling that even his own team mates even though they respected him to some extent never really liked him. @@martydav9475
This really is outstanding. The thought, the effort, the preparation. The slow build up during the cricket, little by little, piece by piece. Boycott trying so hard not to care, aggers poking proding slowly but surely ramping the annoyance. It is one of the greatest wind ups ever. As for "you invited me under false pretences" woooow
I listened to this live, I even remember where i was. Driving between Ripon and Harrogate and I was feeling annoyed at the ICC. Then Aggers dropped the bombshell of a wind-up. Class act.
IMHO the best TMS wind-up ever! The planning, preparation and execution were spot on. And credit to Boycs too for wearing it well in the end. I just wish Johnners had still been around to see it. Sadly, this kind of epic banter is impossible in the new pc WEF-approved TMS. RIP TMS, we hardly knew ye.
who is watching this in 2024...... 09:02
Love how Aggers had to suppress his smile once or twice
I remember hearing this live 😂

Young Henry in the background cracking up always gets me!
Tears of laughter every time I watch this😂😂😂.

Briyan johnson was the best commentator in the world 🎉
Fabulous!!
Boycott handled this well, I’m not sure that it was the wind up they were hoping it would be
😊 "you knocked out all of those plates"
Commentator is stonedead in his delivery caught him niceley 🤣
How does Jonathon keep a straight face😂😂😂
Aggers needed Andrew Samson. I think he was cracking.
First time seeing this, absolutely superb
Love how Boycott almost calls Agnew a c*nt 😅

Must be said, we're still top of the world when it comes to humour!

I love all the smirks in the background 😂

Faislabad made this just that so much funnier

A masterpiece.
We'll have to can it 😂
This is up there with bigger bats for non-White players and the Black and White Minstrels protesting against the Apartheid Government of South Africa!
Remember this, so funny
Geoff really falls for it.. brilliant!👏👏👏

And, and I know I shouldn't say it, but women commentators.
@grahamnancledra7036 yes, everyone minds their p's & q's and is hyper aware, and dont get me on to Batsmen having to be batters.
Let all matches remain on the record books.
Aggers nearly messed it up when he said at 6:30 “ if this is all real”

im a yorkshire man, but i do find Boycott a very odd person

He slowly, deftly placed him in a verbal ju-jitsu lock without Boycs even knowing in the slightest.. Masterful.
Haha! Perfect! Poor Geoffrey.
No sympathy. He's a humourless, arrogant sod with some dodgy opinions.
