Steel Magnolias

Tried a new monologue from Steel Magnolias. Written by Robert Harling. Chose a section where the character M'Lynn was processing the death of her daughter. When a parent losses a child it is a devastating experience.

I'm someone who always has a smile on her face. Literally. I'm a naturally happy and cheerful, positive person who smiled so much growing up that my face grew into a semi-permanent smile. Literally, as in it hurts to close my mouth for more than 30 seconds. But I like the fact I smile all the time. People say they like my smile (it's been described as "innocent", "friendly", and "gentle"). Most of the time I'm actually smiling but if this makes any sense I'm not always smiling when I'm "smiling", it's just my neutral expression. There are some downsides to it, like if food gets stuck under my tongue when I'm eating, it's pretty much stuck there unless I manually remove it (I once spent the entire second half of my school day with a little bit of food in my mouth because I didn't have time to go to the bathroom to get rid of it) and swallowing my spit can only be done if I slurp it like soup (and I always have a lot of it, sometimes I have a speech impediment because of it because I love to talk and don't always give myself enough time to swallow). Also I have to work extra hard to properly brush my lower molars. And I drool if I look down too long. Those are the only downsides, everything else is a positive. Sometimes boys think I'm flirting with them because of my smile, though (however ironically enough they don't think I'm flirting when I actually am, because my flirting style involves teasing and playful insults, nothing mean-spirited of course, I don't like to hurt people's feelings).
Thank you for smiling, it means alot. You never know who might need it. Have a blessed day.
@@corinnesutton-smith5365 Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful day too! I'm glad that you appreciate my natural happy demeanor.
Love it !
This was so relatable! There are days when everything goes right and you just have that immense sense expectation..
