Hi, I'm Rob, AKA magicmarmot.
I make stuff. I fix stuff. Sometimes I improve stuff.
And I love dogs.
This channel is me goofing around. So far that's all there is.

What am I gonna do
I need your help.
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to be doing to survive this rather uncertain future that we're all facing right now. I'd like your input.
If you're feeling this same sort of fear, maybe we can figure it out together.
The best memories I have are working on projects with friends. I want that back. I want to find a way to make it sustainable for all of us, and I'm gonna need help.
I know a lot of weirdfolk that are creative and make cool stuff. I want to help build something that might give us a chance.
I don't know what that will take yet. Let's figure it out together.

Requiem

My sister passed away, and I flew out to Phoenix to be there. I've never flown for myself before. Almost all of my flights have been for business and the details were handled by someone else. I wanted to document it, at least a little. First time is always scary. It was an emotional experience, like big emotions. It's not something I really want to put words to yet, so I chose music instead. I ...
Okay, they weren't REAL babies, but the explosions were still pretty cool.

It's the end of the year.
Work week one. Drained.
มุมมอง 9หลายเดือนก่อน
I really want to get back to a place where I can do fun stuff again. I'm calling the rest of this year as damage control and cleanup. This is why I call it the Taint of the Year. Grumble grumble. You kids, get off of that cloud! And you, cloud, go back to where you came from!
Replacing a Trailer Fender (Karavan 6 x 12)

*Someone* managed to drive the trailer into a gas pump guard (most certainmly not me, nope, nope nope) and broke it badly enough to need replacement. Aftermarket trailer parts are available online, but do beware.

It was nice to see such a large turnout. I'll admit seeing a party bus picking up attendees at a funeral wasn't what I was expecting. On the other hand, that's exactly what I'd want the folks attending my funeral to do! Share stories about the good times together!
Trippy
Those dishes did look tasty!
Looking forward to your Phoenix video. The new mic sounds good except when it (or something) cuts out the audio at 0:49. Seeing the mic is a bit distracting though, especially when it picks up light reflections.
Lol, you literally fixed NOTHING!! You can't open the gazebo like that. I thought you were going to cut it, weld it maybe or something were it looks renewed. But I will have to figure out how to do that.
Thank you! The directions that come wuth are not helpful
Happy holiday with the fam in Bemidji. Looking forward to your 2025 updates!
I'm really sorry to hear. Losing someone is hard for you in ways you aren't even conscious of. As you mourn, be sure to have grace for yourself. Plan in margin for you to be less good at doing many normal things this next year. Spend your time mourning, not self recriminating- loss is hard, and hits deeper than you know or feel.
*hug* I'm sure it will be a comfort to gather with all the people who meant a lot to Nancy and the rest of the family.
I’m so sorry to hear this. 😢 My condolences. ❤❤❤
Not that I want to see someone struggle with broken parts, but it is nice to see it be that way instead of someone showing on a brand new machine how to remove or repair something that doesn't need fixed and is completely clean easily simple to work on. Thank You for sharing this video.
You are making nice mounds of boxes in corners. But that means unpacking progress is happening! I suspect you'll build a box castle in the back yard come spring or something similar... 🙂
Thanks Rob! I was really struggling to find the broken pin, but your q tip advice worked like a charm! Much appreciated! Pete
Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry to hear this. Glad all the people and pups are ok. ❤
Thank you. Light box assembly and system has been massively updated. Wires pre-sewn in and other attachment improvements. My entire device setup was 10 minutes or less, hassle free. Quite impressed!
The bird looked very good. Bummer it wasn't up to what you were hoping for. How did the stuffing loaf turn-out? That's a really cool idea as I'm always looking for more stuffing/dressing!
@VegasWayneW stuffing was also "meh". Didn't have the spices i wanted, and was too moist and mushy. It was more a symbolic gesture.
@@magic.marmot Bummer. Still seemed like an interesting approach to use. Possbily worth furture exploration. I'd be a willing taste tester... :-)
When your trailer is heavily loaded and it sags a lot, can you still release the jack? It will be under great loading.
Done is done!
I'm glad you were able to get it drained. I guess I'm surprised at the state of the house. My assumptions of what insurance does and how quickly after a fire are clearly off. *hugs*
Have you looked at SaveAJack? You can remove them for more clearance
What a terrible mess, sorry for your loss.
Things will work out, they always do. Blessings
Glad I found this. Just bought a used ninebot cheap. Was expecting to have to replace battery.
Rob, you need to edit this as you show us you ladder and tool gymnastics but fail to discuss the short in the replaced section of wire.
So, how was the pepper mash? What a tease! Hopefully the security is for peace of mind and you've not had problems. I was wondering if you were going to rig a motion sensor-based response to scare folks away when you didn't want them there... :-)
It's looking good. Are you going to record the TOT's for a video? Please? 🙂
I watched a YT video about [Karavan's Tie Down kit for 5" frame (D-rings with 1/2 x 6 inch bolts)], available at TSC or cheaper if you shop online somewhere else. My 2021 Karavan 5x8 has four predrilled holes on each side with plastic caps on top, but my trailers has 3" frame. So I bought 4-pack of V-ring bolt on anchors and will get some bolts at Lowe's. I didn't even know there were already holes in the trailer for anchors.
Furnace good! Glad to see you're getting settled. You'll have to charge back the landlord for all the improvements you've made! Met any of the neighbors yet? That's important to ask what sort of Halloween candy stash you should have on hand! 🙂
Just wanted to let you know that the firefly you are working on is manufactured in the US the company that makes it is Berkeley California
After removing my battery and pressing the "Reset" button, I get 8 red flashes, 1 longer red flash then it turns off. The pack reads 41V though. any idea what the problem would be?
@theruckusdj no clue. Definitely sounds like a fault condition, but I don't know the codes. I'd check to see if the individual cells are balanced, but if it's at 41v, it sounds like they're at least top balanced.
So, how much are you charging the landlord for all the basic maintenance you're doing? 🙂
Nice win!
I'm glad to see you're in a place that looks like it'll be good for the four of you. Looking forward to seeing more!
@10:36 is when you start tripping off those over fermented peppers..
@9:55 must be the seeason of the haaatch
good video. interesting use of vacuum in ferments. dry heat toast the cumin seed in a pan to open it. same with coriander.
Cider - Yum!
@@VegasWayneW I hope.
Thanks for the update. The brush cleared from the shore really makes that area look nice!
Woohoo! Magic Fridge!

I'm glad you were able to get a little dirt therapy. Here's hoping for a long fall so you can get your heat on!
Had the same "fun" you had at 4:44, trying to unlink the z bend carb throttle thing... Seem like they might be bending the tip making it hard to remove unless you undo all linkage
All that baggage gone. Finally free. Hit the road Jack. Japan. NZ. Italy. Have a few years to yourself.
I lost everything in a house fire 11 years ago
Glad you're safe, hope things go smoothly in getting yourself back together.
Sucks to suck. Here is a tip don’t put your personal life online. Good luck, loser
Great to see that the concept worked. I wonder if waiting until the spring before everything grows back in so thick that it might be easier to get the catail roots out. I'm sure the dogs will love a little swim area.
I love the dirt cyclone. Cool idea. Much nicer than being face planted with a scoop to get the bottom of the hole cleared out!
I fix things. I make things. And I like dogs.
There is NO beryllium oxide in any domestic microwave oven magnetrons, that's a myth.
