I try to explain why this is a good piece for working on relaxed RH playing.... not sure I manage to demonstrate it however :-)

Sounds good to me Rupert. My teacher Andreas Martin has his version for students on his FB page (I guess you liked it). I never worked on this piece with him but I really like his teaching. He has great musical advice and helps solve technical problems too. Super nice guy too.
I have;t heard Andreas play this - I'll see if I can find it. Thanks :-)
Interesting I have travelled in morris minor. As a child in 60s. Never driven one.
Great, Rupert. Wonderful composition, stunning thumb. Thank you for sharing. My next challenge: Ricerca 33.
whar a lovely Rover1 Are the door cappings wood? I've never actually seen a P4 in the U.s
I am working on this one as well. I had a lesson with Liz Pallett on this piece yesterday. Not ready to record.
@@TheAlfonsovaldes I look forward to hearing and learning from your experience 🙏
Wonderful thumb action which sounded beautiful.❤
Oh your thumb is absolutely fine by me and this was really nice. Jeremy
What an idiot
Браво))))))
I've enjoyed these very much, Rupert. I'm eager to learn what you'll be offering us next. Thanks!
@@jameslouderin glad James. Time not for some proper practice at this end ….
Thank you for consistently recording these. It makes my day a little better with just minute or two of lute every time. :)
Aw - thanks - you're welcome.
Wonderful 🎶🎸👌👍thanks for sharing Best wishes
Wonderful performance 👍
My goodness…! This is unexpectedly beautiful on every level. 👏👏👏👏🥰
@@davidbyron377 thank you 🙏
cheerful & thoughtful
Certainly is a pleasure. I would love to know what book you have in front of you! Thanks
It's a messy collection of individual pieces of paper - sourced from the internet some time ago
Thanks I’ll stop searching!
A pleasure to listen.
And very good company they make--looking forward to the next four!
A beautiful piece, well played. Thank you!
Many thanks!
Yes a total change of mood. What to me is so particular about Ricercars is how they sound improvised and yet were written down.
It’s a beauty!
Nice!
Methinks slight disharmony possibly tuning issues?
@@blueturkey actually it is a very specific type of tuning that that composer insisted on… 😆 No you’re right, as usual I forgot to tune the instrument before recording… sorry
@@Lutelover I have an Elizabethan Lute (13 courses) and I picked it up immediately. :)
Nice, Rupert.
These Marco videos have really inspired me to play more of his music-thanks! A small note: though Italian words are normally accented on the penult, as you have done here, L’Aquila is on the antepenultimate syllable (L’A).
@@MrOrigamiPants thanks and it sounds much better that way 😀🙏
A beautiful sounding instrument. Nicely played.
Piccolo errore: Marco dall'Aquila (con una "l"), perché era nato nella città di L' Aquila, nell'Italia centrale. Grazie per il video!
How wonderful to live in a historic place connected to wonderful composers! :-)
Lovely. Which ms is this from? Would love to give it a try myself.
Well done. Is this one by Roman Turovski?
yes :-)
we had one of these in our garage, it did not have enough power to go on the ramp
Elle est superbe en Rouge !..rare encore jamais vu...🤩
lovely! i'm trying to find this in spinacino's books - would you have a reference for which piece this is?
Hi - I found it in the Lute Society's book of 158 early 16th century ricercars. It cites this reference: Petrucci 1507a. ff. 44r-44v . Hope that helps :-)
@@Lutelover aha! thank you! that enables me to find it in Petrucci's 1507 book of Spinacino. perfect! <3
Beautiful music! Well done Rupert! 👍👏👏
Brilliant, Rupert. Sounds fantastic. Excellent rhythm and speed. Much more better than the recording within the Summer Spinacino Project. Great joy to hearing this Recercar. Thanks a lot for sharing. Greetings from Fossombrone, the birthplace of Spinacino. ❤
The struggle is real, but it certainly looks like you are succeeding. Do you find there is a difference in tone quality when your hand is relaxed?
Absoltuely - as long as the relaxation runs all the way from shoulder to fingertip..... not easy ;-)
I wish my own right hand were so relaxed as yours. Carry on, Sir!
Always enjoy your playing, Rupert. Well done.
Thanks! It's a lovely good-natured little piece.
They do work together. Melancholy Dalza….beautiful
What lute are you playing? Your playing is inspirational. Very well done.
Hi - just an 8-course renaissance lute :-)
@@Lutelover who was the maker? I like the shape of it
the long narrow shape is based on an old Hans Frei lute I think - the (decease) maker's name eludes me - I;ll get back to you :-)
wow, is this the first video without the usual greeting. great playing anyway
Sorry - sometimes I just press record and see what happens :-)
Very enjoyable to listen to, thank you for playing them!
The first is by Hans Gerle
👏👏👏
Melody definitely resembling the book of With Fire and Sword
i support made in England 👍👍🇬🇧🙏🚗🚗
Lovely
What sweet music! I really like this "more restrained" approach you're taking. I don't find it any less expressive than before, quite the opposite. The voice of the lute opens up and sings.
I agree - I notice sounds I haven't heard before - but then they disappear if I pay them too much attention!
My experience is that the lute is all about quality not quantity - so if you can get a full sound on every note (both strings of a course) you don't need to push in order to produce a decent quantity of sound. Playing in a friendly acoustic helps, too!
A lovely pairing!
Lovely! Just subscribed !
