    I have a balcony I wish I can use but don’t because of mosquitoes but I saw on another comment that this is great to repel mosquitoes but I get a lot of spiders as well, idk HOW they make it into my apartment. Will this also do the trick on spiders or will it attract more?

    Ive tried this soil mix and it didnt take long for my venus fly trap to die. I was devastated! We have a number of nurseries in my area and these fly traps are very hard to find. I think i have read somewhere that its best to transplant the venus fly trap plant in the winter, during the plants dormancy. Perhaps, this is why my fly trap didnt survive, because i transplanted at the end of summer. My fly trap was getting so big, i felt i had to re-pot into a bigger pot right away. My mother got me a new fly trap and i wont make the same mistakes i have in the past!!

    To keep carnivorous plants healthy in a terrarium keep the soil moist at all times. Use rainwater or distilled water. Do not use tap water. Put a layer of stone in bottom of terrarium then soil. After planting the plant moisten the soil until it's thoroughly damp. You won't have standing water in terrarium just moistened soil. Check every few days to see that it's still moist. The plants like moisture and since you have no cover you will have to monitor regularly. It is best to provide the plants with as much light as possible. However, avoid direct sunlight. This can overheat the glass and burn the plants. Therefore, place the terrarium where it gets bright indirect light.

    Question, can I grow a Venus fly trap in a terrarium?

    • @perfectplantsteam

      Yes, you can grow a Venus fly trap in a terrarium. In fact, terrariums can be an ideal environment for Venus fly traps as they provide the high humidity and controlled conditions that these plants thrive in.

    I bough a jasmine plant but I live in Chicago, IL what should I do? Plant it outdoors or in a pot so I can bring it indoors in the winter? Please help

    • @perfectplantsteam
      @perfectplantsteam 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Given that Chicago, IL has cold winters, it would be best to plant the jasmine in a pot so you can bring it indoors during the winter. Jasmine plants are typically not cold hardy and may not survive freezing temperatures. By planting it in a pot, you can easily move it indoors to a location with adequate sunlight and temperature control during the winter months. Make sure to provide the jasmine plant with proper care, such as regular watering, well-draining soil, and sufficient sunlight, whether indoors or outdoors. Please let us know if you have any further questions, we will be happy to help! Best, Kendall

    • @perfectplantsteam
      @perfectplantsteam 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use insulation material like burlap or bubble wrap to help keep the cold away from their roots by simply adding these to the outside of the pot. You can also move them to a more sheltered location like a garage, shed or porch, which will provide protection from the wind. Another thing one can do, is apply a heavier layer of mulch on the surface of the soil.

      For situations like this it would be ideal to use a wood stake to help hold the tree upright while the roots grow/establish. Once they are established they should be able to support the tree on their own!

    hi, Ahoj I'm new to the carnivorous plant scene help. I recently bought sundew seeds on Amazon. Drosera seeds 100 seeds (Mix) 1.) Do filter jugs make sense? 2.) Is sundew from a filter jug healthy? 3) I was told that boiled and then cooled water is good for sundews. Can anyone confirm this? 5) Should we hand feed them at some point? as the domes are closed at the seedling stage to maintain humidity, preventing insects from entering. 6._Should we open the dome every few days to get some fresh air? 7)I would like to, I thought. catching rainwater. ? 9) I wish, I thought. catching snow water? sorry if my english is not good 🙁

    I bought this soil. It had a ppm of over 250. It killed all 3 of my VFT. Then I bought 3 more VFT from Lowe's again because I really wanna grow VFT. I used my Zero water to basically flush the soil until the ppm was 10 or below. I repotted my VFT, and now they are thriving.

      Thanks for reaching out to Perfect Plants about your experience with our Carnivorous Plant Soil. We are going to send this information to our quality control expert over garden amendments for bag testing. I was able to do some light research and find that at times, bulk bales of peat moss can be off on salt contents. A soaking or drenching of the peat 98% of the time corrects this imbalance. In the meantime, would you like a fresh bag of soil shipped directly from our warehouse to your home?

It's important to water thoroughly and regularly for the first 1-2 months so the roots can establish before the cold moves in.

    • @perfectplantsteam
      @perfectplantsteam ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! When it comes to repotting your plant, it's generally best practice to gently remove the old soil from the roots and place the plant in fresh soil. This allows the plant to receive the necessary nutrients for growth. Repotting in this manner should be fine for your plant, but it's a good idea to monitor it closely in the following days to ensure that the transfer hasn't caused any shock. If you notice any signs of stress or if the soil seems depleted, you might consider repotting it sooner to provide adequate nourishment.

    • @garyadams9073
      @garyadams9073 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      VFTs aren't supposed to be planted in nutrient-rich media. This will quickly kill the plant. They get all they need from lots of sunlight, water, and the occasional bug. The OP did what is called "slip-potting", nothing wrong with this. However, I wouldn't do it twice on the same plant, if a larger pot is needed, cleaning the root ball is best.

    • @Chas-u1v
      @Chas-u1v 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a repot, but that's exactly what I'd do (I'd break it a little and free some of the roots, but completely having them bare like in this video would give me a small heart attack)
