There is no greater dopamine rush than the first sign of summer in the Pacific Northwest! I could almost feel my seasonal “funk” melting away with the warm sun. It’s days like today that I remember how lucky I am to call Washington, home. Pretty cool rig. That tundra is a great truck. I have one myself. The engine itself is known for going a million miles with know problems.

I really like the ideas of the neutrals because when you're camping and in nature you want to look outside! You could keep the wood and slowly paint so you can see which ones you might want to keep natural. Have fun with this project!
Might want to have a truck mechanic check out those tortured rear leaf springs. An extra leaf or two might make sense, although it would raise the ride height in back.
Totally! I’m lucky enough to have a step dad as a mechanic and we are thinking air bags in the rear. Those leafs are definitely tired, lol.
@@Thesaltedroad If I was me, I might visit a spring and suspension shop. They can easily calculate your potential load, then fabricate the proper spring-rate for your rig.
Some stuff to think about. Do you have a grey tank and a black tank? Is there a separate grey tank for the shower and the sink? Instead ot taking out the grey (or black) tank you can have the toilet number one connected to the tank so you don't have to worry about dumping the small tank included with the toilet. Just dump it when you dump the grey tank. Also, for heat, get a diesel heater installed. They take little room, don't provide condensation, and are very fuel efficient. You may be able to install the fuel tank in your back carry box. It would easily heat your space and they come with theromstats now. You have a big amount of space in the crew cab. Can you detail your solar setup?
Love all of this feedback and questioning, thank you! I have a composting toilet, so, as far as I understand, I do not need a black tank? Additionally, we’ve decided keeping the internal shower may be for the best so I’ll have to keep the current grey tank! I definitely want a larger fresh tank installed for longer time frames “off grid”. As far as the heater goes, I’m a sun chaser, so I’m not sure yet if a diesel heater is necessary. That said, I’m chronically cold lol. So it might be! I’ll make another video about the solar here soon. Still learning myself..
@@Thesaltedroad Those rigs are great. Lucky you have the crew cab option because it gives you lots more room. And the box in the back is great also. You may be able to mount a front hitch so you can put a bike rack on it to have local transport. I have a friend who carries a few 3 gallon containers to help with the water issue incase you don't have room to install a larger water tank. You might love the diesel heater to help with the morning chill. your sink probably uses the grey water tank. Very cool that he used the truck bed paint for the side. it is very durable. Good find for you. Air bags yuck. Take it to a spring place. they can take the springs off, recondition them, and add a new spring if needed for close to the price of the air springs. best of luck to you in your new traveling house.

@@Thesaltedroad 2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle. Over two decades full-time live-aboard. . We use a Wave 3 catalytic heater. 24/7 on 'LOW', a five-gallon twenty-pound propane bottle lasts a couple weeks. . Without a thermostat, we regulate interior temperature by opening windows... a half-inch on the lee, maybe an inch to windward. . Escaping warm air carries humidity and odors.
