Acute Myeloid Leukemia & Stem Cell Transplant - My 2024 Cancer Journey
This is the second video from my 2024 Cancer Journey. It is simply a video log of my stay at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston for my conditioning chemotherapy and my bone marrow/stem cell transplant. It's kind of raw. I talk about my ups and downs and my challenges. It shows me agitated, exhausted, hallucinating as well as walking, reading, and playing with Legos. There are shots of my old man fat belly and of the medication being administered. It's long and frankly I did it mostly for me. In fact, while editing I was reminded of many things I'd already forgotten in the three months since I arrived back home. I continue to have every reason to be and to stay positive. I am back to work part time as of January 6, 2025 when I'm loading this and will soon be back full time; albeit with some travel restrictions. On Wednesday of this week I get a bone marrow biopsy to check for residual disease. I am optimistic that will be a good report. Thank you to my family and friends for the support. Thank you to the great folks at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women's Hospital. Thanks to the good folks at Maine Medical Center who got me off to a good start and thanks to my Primary Care Physician, Dr. Badilla at Yarmouth Family Medicine for paying attention and ordering the tests he did when he saw something abnormal in my annual physical blood work. And now, on with living!

In late May and early June we were treated to an awesome display of icebergs in and around Bonavista and Twillingate, Newfoundland. This short shows off many of those we were fortunate enough to see while there. Can't wait to go back!
Portland Headlight by drone. Dec 1, 2024 in 4k
มุมมอง 26หลายเดือนก่อน
While getting the last two photos for my 2025 Lighthouse Calendar, I switched the drone to video for the flight back to Portland Headlight from the Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse. Here is 50 seconds of that flight back. And yes, I had FAA LAANC approval to fly here in this restricted airspace.

What We Loved About Croatia - Part 4 Pula, Novigrand & Rovinj
มุมมอง 24หลายเดือนก่อน
The cities we visited and stayed in in Croatia were an astonishing blend of Italian, Yugoslavian and Croatian culture and architecture. In fact our B&B Host in Rovinj told us he was born in Italy, grew up in Yugoslavia and served in the Army and then retired in Croatia....BUT....he has lived in the same house his whole life. When asked if he was Italian or Croatian, he put his had on his heart ...
What We Loved About Croatia - Part 3 - The Hill Towns
มุมมอง 21หลายเดือนก่อน
We totally loved the hill towns we visited in Croatia. From the first near Rijeka to the more famous sites in Istria. So much history and character in each town. They take some effort to get to and to explore but it's so worth doing.
What We Loved About Croatia -Part 2 - The Adriatic Sea
มุมมอง 51หลายเดือนก่อน
From the moment we arrived at the coast, we were enchanted by the beauty of the Adriatic Sea. The drive up the coast, staying at the nicest hotel we've ever stayed at in Rijeka, the small villages, the resorts, and the opportunity for recreation was everywhere. Just knowing we could take a ferry across to Venice, Italy blew our minds. Its just so beautiful here.
What We Loved About Croatia Part 1 Plitvice NP (Short)

On our first full day in Croatia in 2022, we visited Plitzvice National Park, aka Plitvička Jezera. The waterfalls and the color of the water, as well as the beautiful walking trails made our day spectacular. It is totally worth visiting. We loved it.

2024 Iceland Short #6= Stykkisholmur and Aurora Borealis in Bifrost
มุมมอง 35หลายเดือนก่อน
On January 4 we visited Stykkisholmur for the first time. What a gorgeous little town. We climbed up to visit the lighthouse, I flew the drone and then we took the long, scenic drive back to our VRBO. After a great dinner and soak in the Krauma nature baths, we were treated to another amazing showing of the Aurora Borealis.
2024 Iceland Short #5 - Akranes, Barnafoss and Aurora Borealis in Bifrost
มุมมอง 43หลายเดือนก่อน
On January 3rd, we left our hotel in Reykjavik and headed north with high hopes of capturing Aurora in our final two nights in Iceland. Our first stop was Akranes where we had a terrific visit to the lighthouse and met and chatted with Hilmar, the overseer of said lighthouse and #1 Champion for Akranes Tourism. After the best cinnamon roll I've ever had there in Akranes, we headed further north...

มุมมอง 162 หลายเดือนก่อน
On January 2, 2024 we hike up the original "Trail A" to the Fagradalsfjall volcano and the large cone that developed during that eruption. When we were there for that eruption in 2021 we saw it, and the massive lava flows, from the other side of the valley and it was most impressive. The lava flows on this side are equally massive, and still steaming. We then visited the Krysuvik/Seltun thermal...
Iceland 2024 Short #3 Solheimajokull Glacier & Lagoon and Aurora Borealis in Reykjavik
มุมมอง 92 หลายเดือนก่อน
On January 1st, we braved the weather forecast and headed for Solheimajokull glacial lagoon and glacier. Prepared for both the rain and the ice (unlike several other tourists who unsuccessfully attempted to walk up the short path), we navigated the path to the lagoon viewpoint and then climbed up on to the glacier. When we returned to Reykjavik, we had dinner and then got an Aurora alert (along...

And that is all on south arm road? Does that road kinda traverse from mills market over to the height of the land area
I have not explored a lot in this area so I actually do not know the answer. There may very well be what I call "Jeep Roads" that could get you from Devil's Den to height of land, but I've not taken mine there to find out.
What an amazing area. How can this place possibly not be listed in the Unique Natural Features page in my Maine Atlas and Gazetteer? I’ve been to several of those sites and they cannot compare to this wonderful place. I’d love to know more about the Geology displayed here. Thanks for sharing this.
That was one damn fine video. That is one fine gem there in Andover. They have a few more gems there as well.
Very beautiful. 👍2
@@KhurshidsChannel Thank you
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍1
@@KhurshidsChannel Thanks man. I wish I could do more than I do.
What a place , been hearing about this for a great while now. Thinking 2025 happenings. Thank you for sharing such a detailed clip.
@@karenforrester5913 I didn’t go over there this passed summer but I understand the Spring storm we had caused major flooding there and might have event taken out the bridge. I saw something that the entire area was dramatically changed by the flooding. Thanks for the nice words and I hope you make there in 2025
Hang tough Safety Steve!
Sending healing thoughts Steve. Thank you for sharing your story.
stay strong, keep walking!
Love you so much. ❤ Thankful you are here. And sharing your story.
Thank you so much!
Devil's den was changed by last December's big rain storm. The road washed out all the way down to bedrock and most of it washed into the old dry channel. There's a big pile of rocks at the bottom of the old waterfall and some new gravel bars.
@@zone4garlicfarm Wow. That storm changed many areas of Maine. We’ll have to take a ride back up and check it out. Thanks.
Lovely!!
Thank you. It was a crazy, wonderful and most unexpected experience.
This is fantastic!!
Hey Thanks. As you can probably tell, we love Iceland.
Wow, what a start! So much rain!!
How do you pick the music you use?
Well that is not an easy answer but… I use TH-cam Studio. I listen to different tracks, look at the length and the tempo and just pick what seems to fit to me. I’ve gotten better at matching clip changes with music beats since this video. Most of the music on TH-cam Studio doesn’t require attribution, some does under the Creative Commons licensing, but I always try to give the musicians credit when I use their songs. Hope this helps.

So beautiful mu dear friend!!!
Is this all your own footage? It looks great. Greetings from Maine!
Yes. All my footage. Full disclosure: some of the iPhone video was made by my wife! 🙄 Where in Maine?
@@stevefoster1511 Portland area, I'm also looking to cycle In Québec city and drive out to nova Scotia, what are the chances? What drone and camera are you using here?
@@benarahsounds9171 Us too. Cycling Quebec City and Levis is fantastic. We try to go every year. The ice skating in Trois-Riviers is great too-in a normal winter ☹️ I shoot with Nikon gear. This video also includes the GoPro Max 360 and over the years I’ve used GoPro 4,5,6,7,8,&9. I’ve sold all but my 7 and am switching to Insta360 for my action cameras. The drone footage here is with my Autel Evo 2 Pro. It’s been to Iceland with us twice. I also have an Autel Nano+ which is, frankly, way easier for traveling with. And of course the ole iPhone contributes nicely to our travel videos.
Beautiful drone flight. Great shots. Well presented, these huge castle ruins are impressive. I liked it. I also fly a drone over ruins and historic buildings. Good job. Greetings from Poland😀
Wow. Thank you for your kind words. I hope to visit Poland one day.
Cool lighthouse footage new subscriber bet there loads of good places to go in Ireland
Indeed. There are many beautiful places there.

Very Good job of flying and the video is just excellent, thank for sharing

bonjourr. Yo- top masterpiece! have a nice day-🤝
Thanks ✌️
Super nice drone footage. We are planning a trip for summer 2024 to Newfoundland. I really appreciate you showing the names of locations.
Thanks. Glad you liked it and found it helpful. If you've never been, you're in for a treat. If you have been, you know how awesome it will be.
Beautiful!
Foggy
Weather is not good.
Ha! If you go to our other videos on my channel you may notice a theme….if we’re on vacation, it’s probably raining! Scotland 2022. Iceland 2021, 2019, 2018. Portugal in 2019 was particularly bad. Hmmm. Perhaps it’s our choices of destinations.
What time or days did you take this video?
The opening in St. John’s was the evening we got there after a sunny start then a rainy and foggy drive from Twillingate. The next two days, as you point out, we’re rain and fog; all day and night.
So awesome! We went canyoning with Bruno a few years ago and he is a blast!
Would do it again without a second thought.
Curious to know the route
Thanks for watching the video. The route is a little hard to describe because we were all over. What we love about cycling in Quebec is the wealth of cycling paths. We have literally ridden from the bridge all the way down river to the Montmorency falls on the Quebec side and on the Levis side, downstream of Levi all the way up to the Chaudiere Provincial Park. Access is awesome.

Beautiful, Thank you for sharing.
Hi! Can I ask if you were there closer to the beginning or the end of March? :)
Second week of March
Looks kind of hairy in spots. How does it compare to the Knife Edge on Katahdin?
You know Bob, that's a great question and one I hadn't thought about. I would say the exposure to falls is pretty equal. The up and down on this one is much more significant. The length is not comparable with the Knife Edge being much longer. I would say overall, Angel's Landing is more risky, more CROWDED and over all more thrilling. The Knife Edge, as you know, is spectacular in its own way and much more grueling to make it across.
I love seeing all your videos. It gives me a chance to see things I will never get to see. Do you mind if I ask what do you use for a camera in the video?
Thanks Debbie. We've made travel and adventures a priority and make the "sacrifices" necessary to do so. I use a combination of cameras. Two GoPros, although in this video it was my GoPro Hero 7. I also have and use a GoPro Hero 9, which I don't like as well as the 7. The "good" still photos are with my Nikon D810. The other stills are with the same GoPro or with my iPhone 12. (Some of the videos are with my iPhone as well). And then, of course, there are the drone shots, which in this case is with my "travel" drone, the small Autel Nano+ It's funny though because I find myself using my iPhone more and more for both stills and video. Crazy. Hope you are well. Like you, I miss softball.
Fantastic cinematography my friend, shots are beyond spectacular here! What a production😮
Wow. Thanks. We love Iceland
El video muy bueno la música un punto coñazo
Gracias!
I had an amazing time watching this Iceland vlog video! What a great way to experience the world. Thank you!!! I am a fan now
Thank you for your kind words.
We are heading that way in December. What places do you recommend? Worth renting a car or doing tours? Thank you. Nice video
Thanks for reaching out. I SO love Iceland and I frequently say, "I could live there." And yes, I've been in all four seasons! Winter, ie. December, in Iceland offers so many unique opportunities. This is, in large part, due to the fact that so many fewer people are there. It also presents many unique challenges, foremost being the weather and the lack of day light. Plan to do your traveling in the dark because in December it gets light around 9am and gets dark about 3pm. Now, of course, you'll be seeking that elusive green lady; Aurora. She is fickle and you must have some luck with regard to clear skies, but be ready. Luck is where opportunity intersects with preparation. Be prepared with proper clothing. Okay, enough, you didn't ask for advice but rather places to go. I say, rent a car. If you can afford a 4x4 it's worth it. Note you'll pay a premium $$$$ if you can't drive a manual transmission. Use a tour company to get you onto a glacier and into an ice cave. Places. The Golden Circle is worth the ride and is well travelled and well maintained. Go South Iceland. Get a tourguide to snowmobile or four-wheeler ride uo to the volcano. Go to Jokusarlon and "Diamond Beach." If you have time, go North. Go to Akureyri. Go to the Myvatn Nature Baths. Go to Godafoss. Go to the thermal pools and swim outside in the snow. Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik is awesome and there are others that are SO worth it. The Blue Lagoon IMO is NOT! Enjoy. I'm jealous.
Love this! I have a '73 I'm slowly rebuilding. Nice to see one in such good shape!
Thanks. I'd been looking for a long time and had actually given up. Wasn't looking for a "restoration" just something with the body repaired that I could drive around for fun and not be afraid to take off the road. Good luck on yours!
This is a great video man, really well put together, thanks for the tour. I'm heading over to see it tomorrow (mid August).
Thanks Chip. Hope you enjoyed your visit. We intended to get back up there over this passed summer but alas, we've not made it yet.
How far is the hike? I would love to take my Aussie with me.
It is not far at all and is an easy walk. It might be 200 yards.
Hello. I’m planning a bike trip from Quebec City airport and riding up around the Gaspe Bay peninsula. I am researching a safe route from the airport to the ferry terminal to cross over to Lewis. Do you have any suggestions?
How long did it take you to skate the 5 miles?
We put in at Westcustogo Park as mentioned in the video and it took us just under an hour to get 5 miles down stream. Amazingly to us, we were still only about half way from the Rte 9 bridge the the Yarmouth boat launch. SO many twists and turns! SO much fun.
Looks fun. Sue and I did three laps around Lake Waushacum Sunday and two today. I am impressed you can fly a drone and skate at the same time - I would have crashed myself or the drone!
I found flying the second day to be better than the first; in part because part of the flying in the second video was automated in a mode called Active Track. I had to edit a lot to remove the times I flew left when I wanted to go right and other times when I looked down at the monitor and found I was no where near the river. It was challenging for sure.
