    I rode my mtn bike over old 105 back in 1990 . Gravel grinding b4 there was gravel grinding. 🤔 These days i ride my DRZ400 over it a couple times a year . 35yrs ago it was a lot more vacant and remote than it is today

    I purchased a 2022 new Himalayan, but with my work out of state, I've put less than 500 miles on it. I retire in one year and am taking a full year doing as many BDRs, TAT, and CDT.

    Very good common sense review unlike most reviews. I have them on a KTM 500EXC-f and don't have enough miles on them to say but they look promising especially since I like hitting the twistys as fast as possible. Thinking about using the Anakee Wild tires for the BDR route here in the south east.

    Your daytrip brought a flood of memories. I grew up in a little town, Pacific Grove, about 4 hours south of where you were. Usually rode south through Big Sur (when the road wasn't washed out). The wife & I used to take escape breaks at Sea Ranch which is just a bit north of Stewarts Point. Back in early 2000's Sea Ranch Lodge had no phones, TV's, internet access or cellular coverage - it was amazing. Have fun, stay safe & take a deep breath when you need to buy fuel.

That coast ride is pretty hard to beat if you have to ride pavement :) It is windy there pretty much all of the time, but it is an awesome ride. Also, Hazy Little Thing is from the original Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, CA, which is also not too far from where you were (by California standards)

Sounds like I have a reason to visit now 👍 Thanks for watching my friend. Have a great weekend - Jon

      I'm right dominant too, and usually go down on my right side. I think a lot of it is circumstantial but maybe our dominant hand is faster to react, making us go down on that side due to the slightly quicker pull on that side once we know we're about to slide

      @@MotoOffroadAdventures In Moab you want to do the White Rim Trail. 100 miles that you can do in a day but is best done in 2 days so you can enjoy some of the side trails. Use the Shafer Trail to access it. High desert so no water crossings but lots of rocks. I've done it several times on a variety of bikes and never had a problem. In northern Utah you can ride on the original Pony Express Trail. 120 miles of graded county roads through the mountain ranges and desert plateaus. Not technical but great for a sense of history. I just did it a couple of weeks ago on my Africa Twin and I discover something new every time. Just be aware that there is NO GAS and NO CELL SERVICE for ~200 miles !!

    I must admit I’ve fallen many times and never told anyone I’m embarrassed. But after every fall I keep thinking what did I do wrong? BTW question : I have money and got a trade in offer for the new himalayan 450. Should I? my bike is only one year old. Would you do it? have you tried the new himalayan?

    • @MotoOffroadAdventures
      @MotoOffroadAdventures 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching. Yes I still go to the "what did I do wrong" thing also. I can't help but to get on myself a little. When ADV riding, laying the bike down is going to happen sooner or later. So my thoughts on the 450 are limited so far. I hope to test drive one next week. I have watched a lot of reviews and like what I am hearing. However one of the things I personally like best is the low center of gravity and how you sit into the bike not so much on top. I have heard it is more top heavy and rides a bit different. I am excited to ride one and get some good info. All the upgrades sound amazing if the bike still feels like a Himmy. I don't want to give up what makes this bike perfect for me. So it is all about the riding experience.

      Hey Lincoln. The BMW's thermostat stopped working is what they found. A ticking time bomb to over heat. I absolutely love my Himmy. Over 11,000 miles. 7,000 of that off road and it has been great. There might not be a perfect bike out there, but I could not make a better bike for me.

    How long did you ride the original tire? The ones which came with the bike from factory.

      My model came with the CEAT tire. Overall not a bad tire. But I got 3500 Miles / 5632 km on them. My rear tire tread was very worn on that point and I had a little cupping on the front.

    This was definitely the answer to my question thanks! I realize now you have the mt90s i have the mt60s. Ive only ridden off road a couple of times and i did want something more aggressive. But i am new. That being said i bought some tusk dsports to put on...we will se how those go. Hopefully i wont miss the onroad performance of the mt60s.

      Right on! I am in the exact same boat. They MT90'S have been really great no complaints. But I do want to get something more aggressive also. I am looking at the DSport myself. I am looking at some Motoz, Shinko, and a few others. Those DSport look great. I also am a little worried about losing too much of that good highway performance.

      I agree completely. I've read reviews that some people have great highway performance and others say the dsports are garbage on the highway (,which makes more sense). Hopefully what you chose works well for you. It'll be interesting to watch how it goes!!
