cool times with some good dudes
It was an absolute blast. I won't lie 😂.... Brock and Sean showed me I have a lot of work to do on my skills. The entire group was a great bunch of guys. Now it is practice time 😄
The GA Traverse is literally at the end of my driveway. I'm upgrading my 800DE suspension as we speak so I can carry a bit more speed across some of those crappier trails. Good video and might see you out there.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. Man, I think I would really enjoy your driveway 😜. I absolutely love that ride. Let me know how you like suspension upgrade and out handles on the route. Definitely hope to see you out there sometime. - Jon
Great video buddy
Hey man thanks for watching 👍
How was the Himalayan riding two up ?. Great video again...
Thanks buddy I appreciate it. I will be doing the Q&A video talking about it also very soon hopefully. Now to answer your question. It went REALLY well. I have to be honest in the steep mountains I was not sure what to expect. The Himalayan did great. It was comfortable for both of us and it was a smooth ride. Now just to clarify the longest ride we did (video coming soon) was 2 hours each way. No issues at all.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and tips on riding a BDR route. I live a dozen miles away from the Mid-Atlantic BDR and have often ridden stretches of it without knowing I was on the route. I suppose that reveals my lack of mapping and navigation items. Most of my adventure rides fall under the umbrella of believing being lost is a gift. A goal. Here in the East it is difficult to stay lost for long, especially with gas in the tank. And I seldom ride with any goal or destination in mind aside from hoping to find a place to eat at some point. But your tips reminded me of a few things. The Garmin InReach Mini 2 is something I've seriously considered since I often ride alone in places where you may not see another vehicle for a long time. I did buy an iPhone 14 Pro which has satellite texting capabilities. When I got it the Garmin thoughts faded. And your discussion of maps has be thinking as well. Again, since I prefer to be lost a map doesn't make much sense but if I was going to ride the entire length of a BDR I see no way around a digital navigation system of some sort. I should probably start learning how to use one now. Thanks for sharing the video. And your others. They're great.
Hey Steve, I am glad you appreciated the video. I will say locally for me which is in South Carolina I also enjoy getting somewhat lost and exploring. I think that is very relaxing and enjoyable, more people should do it. I find myself on a lot of longer trips because I really enjoy seeing new areas of the country from the back roads and trails. When this happens I absolutely love my dedicated GPS unit to keep me going on track. My phone does great but the full unit is my preferred way to ride. The new iPhones satellite messaging is definitely a game changer. I agree with you. It is great to have. I got my Garmin back in 2017 for when I am out of service and love it. I use it all the time to pull weather reports when I don't have service and to update my friends and family in my location throughout the trip. As you can probably appreciate it takes some of the worry for me being solo at times and for my wife since we can communicate during the trip. You have a great route a dozen miles from your house for sure. I really enjoyed the ride. Have a great rest of your weekend - Jon
coming from backpacking gives one valuable insite into packing light. also agree with "don't pack your fears". that should be at the top of the list.
Yep I totally agree! Backpacking definitely teaches you the art of minimalist packing. It's amazing how much less you actually need. And yes, 'don't pack your fears' is a fantastic motto for any traveler. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I will say after adventure biking and backpacking in W.V. I really enjoy your area. - Jon
Hi , what time of year were you in PA on the MABDR ride and what kind of tires do you have on your Himalayan? Thanks!
Hey Peter thanks for watching. I rode the MABDR in late May. I think we started May 22nd. Overall the weather was great.... Well except for all the rain. At the time I was using the Pirelli Scorpion MT90 on my Himalayan. Are you thinking about riding the BDR? Do you also ride the Himalayan?
Thank you for getting back to Me.I have a Royal Enfield Scram. Road all through Vermont 2 Falls ago, then had a double hip replacement. I’m back Riding now and the guys are looking at doing the Pa BDRX discovery route next September/October.
I think that would be a great timeframe for the ride. I am looking at something similar. I want to get the NEBDR done in late September early October also. Enjoy your adventure
Tennessee here, glad you liked it! Best state in the union overall. May i ask what county you were in?
You might be absolutely correct right there. Man I love Tennessee. I am an avid hiker / Backpacker also. I love that TN feeling. I believe I was in Davidson County. Great outdoor scene for sure.
You know you put it on the wrong way?
At the time no 🤦♂️. Once I took it for a ride on the installation date I figured it out. I was definitely new to motorcycles and adventure riding back then. All I could think about was getting the first trip started.
that was wild 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yep I was sweating bullets for a while there. After the heavy rain that entire property was a muddy, wet, mess. I was so happy to find my way back.
@ i've been there and it gets eerie bc everything looks the same and it starts out as an adventure and slowly builds into panic lol.
I could not have said it better myself. Everything truly starts looking the same. I don't know where I've been where I haven't been. You absolutely nailed it. It's such a good feeling when you know you found your way out.
@@MotoOffroadAdventures total relief followed by nervous laughter and hours later reflecting on how lucky we were lol.
It's taken me 15,000km on my 411 to realise that an adventure bike is not a trail bike, but I treat it like one and end up out of my depth and regretting my choices. I'm guessing that uneasy feeling is the adventure part.
Absolutely 💯 % you and I are a lot alike. That feeling can put the hair up on the back of your neck. But it was a good time.
Congrats on getting through that. You would think they could temporally mark the trail so you wouldn't get lost. But hats off you made it.
Thank you buddy. That was my thought also at the time. Man I was getting worried. At the end I would say it was fun, but super crazy.
I hope you got new bars haha. I bent too many 7/8” bars until I upgraded to thicker 1 1/8” bars.
Yep I got them replaced and I am back up and running. I drove on those crazy bent bars for 500 miles. It just behaves differently and I was not enjoying myself much.
Was there no sweep on this ride? :(
💯% my friend
Awesome ride safe!
Thank you! It was an absolutely beautiful ride.
Really amazing content bro. I want to talk with you.
Hey, thanks a lot! I'm really glad you enjoy the content. If you have any specific questions or feedback, don't hesitate to ask. We can definitely chat more about it.
How on the heck did you run 75? Do you have different gearing? New to the channel… gps 65 is screaming lol
Hey there! Thanks for checking out the channel. To be honest, I haven't modified the gearing. The Himalayan can definitely hit 75 mph, a small hill on the interstate helps 😂 but it's not the most comfortable or fuel-efficient speed. usually keep it around 60-65 mph for long rides.
Hey adventure bu😢great video as always
Hey, thanks 👍
another great trip! what helmet are you using?
Thank you buddy. I appreciate the kind words. This was a lot of fun and a beautiful trip. I use the Sedici Duale helmet and I really liked it so far.
awesome ride as always! How'd you get that aerial shot of the water crossing? didn't look like a drone, someone standing up there on the hill? nice shot!
Thank you my friend. I appreciate it. This was a really fun trip. The colors were great. I was lucky enough to have my venture buddy with me so it was a drone shot and he was nice enough to do all the video while I was on it. Guys worried about getting the angle wrong.
Absolutely stunning fall colors.
Thank you so much!

Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to edit. The Himmy always seems to win... You definitely understand that. Have a great weekend - Jon
Love Love Love this video buddy great job!
Thanks a ton! 👍 Much appreciate Barry

Mountains for sure.
Yep you and I both Matthew. Occasionally I have to think about it but it's always the mountains.
I met you at the Like Father Like Son event...I didn’t know you had a YT channel, you may have mentioned it - I was in "new people overload". SUBSCRIBED!
Hey Tim thanks for the Sub. Glad to have you along for the adventures. Yes there were certainly a lot of new people around, No worries. Have a great week - Jon
fantastic video! Im down in florida and trying to plan my first trip with my norden 901. this helped alot!
Thanks for the kind words and support That's great to hear, enjoy that first trip. Florida has some amazing riding roads. That Norden 901 is a great bike. If you're looking for specific route recommendations, feel free to ask. Safe travels! ➡️ I might find myself down in your area this winter. I am considering the F.A.T/P.H.A.T.
@@MotoOffroadAdventures That would actually be great.. I camp/backpack alot in ocala but am struggling to find good moto camping places and routes. And the FAT is supposed to be awesome especially if you can time the rain. Thanks for the reply!
I will absolutely do that my friend. I'll keep you updated. Enjoy your day.
One of my favorite streamers. Many motorcycle-camping streamers focus 90% on riding or reviewing bikes. I enjoy that too, but love when a person loves the camp just as much. Ride to camp and camp to ride! Ride on man
Thanks for the awesome comment. I'm stoked you enjoy the balance of riding and camping. It's really what it's all about for me. Can't wait to share more adventures with you all. Ride on! ➡️ Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
One of the most interesting places I’ve set up camp is Victor, Colorado. I just pulled in from a ride up to Mill Creek Overlook. The ride was awesome and the trails were clear.
I can imagine that the ride to the overlook was stunning. Thos Colorado camps are something special. I had to look at Victor on the map. We have overlanded in our van close by in Twin Lakes & Leadville CO area and loved it. My hope is to go back with the Himalayan sometime.
@ I plan on riding from Georgia to Colorado this spring. Maybe by then I’ll learn all about filming and editing so I can post it on my channel.
@@OlsonADV Absolutely yes man. I would watch the heck out of that. The videography side of trips can get a little crazy 🤣. But you will get some amazing footage on that ride. Keep me updated on the trip. Maybe I can ride a day with you. That would be a blast. I am definitely looking at running the SM500 or the Georgia Traverse again. Maybe the Chattahoochee BDR-X in the spring.
Enjoy the video buddy and I’ll cook for you anytime
@@MotoOffroadAdventuresthe Chattahoochee is next on my list. It would be cool to get to ride together.
My favorite place I have camped is up in the Canadian Rockies. The scenery is straight out of a movie.
Yes the Banff and Jasper areas in Canada are stunningly beautiful.
Where's the most breathtaking place you've ever camped or taken a motorcycle trip? Let us know your favorite spot or dream destination!
Riding through the North Georgia mountains on my Norden 901 is by far my favorite place to ride.
I have to say in the end I agree. Ever since riding the SM500 & Georgia Traverse I have fallen in love with that area.
I don't think you're having any fun until you have a possibility of a Widowmaker falling on your tent 😅
Especially when it doesn't come down on you overnight. 🤷♂️😱
🎉What kind of gas mileage were you hitting? Not just here but generally. Thanks!
Hey Paul, I am getting around 64 on average I would say. When I ran it hard off road in the sand like this video I was getting around 55. th-cam.com/video/-ucAfSkmAFk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LAeKUmuYkGLLusLg ➡️ Thanks for watching and commenting. That little action helps grow the channel. Have a great day - Jon
Do you have a fox file to share?
Hey Joseph thanks for watching and commenting, that little action helps support the channel. I believe you are asking for the gpx file? Maybe that was auto correct... That is just Minnesota educated thought 🤷♂️.
Was an awesome campsite !!! 👍
It really is! I had a blast. Thanks for watching 👍 - Jon
I rode my mtn bike over old 105 back in 1990 . Gravel grinding b4 there was gravel grinding. 🤔 These days i ride my DRZ400 over it a couple times a year . 35yrs ago it was a lot more vacant and remote than it is today
Hey Mike I absolutely love that area. I wish I could have seen it 35yrs ago. Even over the last 12 years of me going there it has changed some. Still plenty of good camping for sure.
🎉love it
👍
Rode from Mexico border to Canadian border, PCH, 101, etc...incredible You are riding in a magical place I'm also in SC, South of Greenville Give me a shout if you need a home base for an adventure in this area
Very cool Wayne. That entire ride is a special place for sure. I loved my time riding in that area. Greenville is one of my favorite SC cities. I will definitely reach out if I adventure of there. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend. You supposed is appreciated - Jon
Can't believe you don't have 100k subscribers. Great videos. 2022 Himalayan
Thanks for the kind words! Comments like this put a big smile on my face. I appreciate you watching my videos. I'm working hard to grow my channel and reach more people. Stay tuned for more adventures! P.S. This video was one of my favorite rides. It is a jeep trail in the Mojave Desert th-cam.com/video/-ucAfSkmAFk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BPtEYUewz8cBdMv1
I purchased a 2022 new Himalayan, but with my work out of state, I've put less than 500 miles on it. I retire in one year and am taking a full year doing as many BDRs, TAT, and CDT.
That's awesome! The Himalayan will treat you well for sure. It is a great bike for those routes. I'm sure you'll have an incredible adventure. You will have the adventure of a lifetime my friend. I am also trying to get out to do the CDT. Looks like a great route.
God bless you in Jesus name Amen.
💙👍 Thank you
Very good common sense review unlike most reviews. I have them on a KTM 500EXC-f and don't have enough miles on them to say but they look promising especially since I like hitting the twistys as fast as possible. Thinking about using the Anakee Wild tires for the BDR route here in the south east.
Glad you like them! They are a very solid tire for sure. They handled the MA BDR perfectly for me. I also have been interested in the Anakee wilds. Looks like a great tire. Enjoy your BDR route. - Jon
yeah buddy 🎉
👍
The entire Pacific Coast Highway is beautiful. I will say the Oregon Coastal region is absolutely the most beautiful.
💯% I have to say the Oregon Coast is a special place.
Bent handlebars means you were having a lot of fun :-) keep it up
David I like the way you think. We would definitely be friends 👍. Thanks for watching - Jon
