hey thanks for the video! I had two questions; how does the smell strength between star jelly and after shave compare? for example is one stronger or longer lasting than the other? and also by the looks of it it would seem like star jelly absorbs a little bit like hand sanitizer- how true is this? and do you notice an alcohol smell with it? thanks!

Discontinued in the early 20th century, brought back, and discontinued again in the early 21st century. This scent can't catch a break!

After the discontinuation of Cologne Russe, I stocked up on a few more shave soaps, some splash, beard oil, and balm before that excellent scent disappears for the 2nd time in history. I went back into my B&M sample collection, and I think Le Grand Chypre stands to replace CR as a daily driver along with Seville. CR moving to special occasion or nostalgia shave.

Like a chef, Doug hates to simply clone a scent. He makes it his own without disappointing his customers. Now, if he could just reproduce the original Antaeus or Gucci Rush for Men.

PAA has a great deal on generous sample vials, I've bought most of them and it's a great way to try before you buy.

shave with any bar soap Mitchell's Wool Fat? cut the bar soap up, put in a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, microwave for a minute or so? if it Foam up stop. let cool you just went it to congeal' place in the sun, until soap hardens Larry

I got interested in Master soap creations when I bought some products from Yaqi China, Yaqi commissioned (Master soap creations for their soaps and fragrances line) I bought the samplers at first and was very very happy with the Yaqi "Musketeer Rapier" and "The Green" and I like those very much. I bought a large tub of the "Musketeer Rapier" and 2 large bottles of the splash & would buy it again and "The Green" I wanted a tub and waited to long and it sold out on the 11.11/23 black Fridays sales. The scents are outstanding of quality and are addictive almost. Good quality and I got some great deals also so every one is happy happy.

I have to agree with Fernando: To get similar performance characteristics to tallow-based soaps, vegan soaps have to utilize some very exotic ingredients that can be much harder to source. For example, I know PAA uses all kinds of ingredients in their soaps that are sourced from Amazonian plants in Brazil. With tallow you keep the ingredients list smaller and you're utilizing a much less environmentally sensitive source for your ingredient. Ruminant animals take a renewable energy source (the sun) and turn it into hundreds of things we can use, while also fertilizing the soil they roam on. If using goats for their fat, you could be doing even better by converting noxious weeds into something useful. I would be interested in seeing if he could perhaps do something with fat from Karoo sheep.

That's a great video and Info...I like Abbate Y La Mantia Soaps they are fantastic only one Don Jose I cannot get lather thick as it drips but maybe I need to add more water etc.. other wise it's fantastic..

Just tried this soap. This is the least drying soap to my skin, and it cleans really well. If I can't find any better than this I'll stick with it. I've tried jack black, old spice, dove, Irish spring, zest, duke cannon, and almost every bar or gel on the store shelves... they all make my psoriasis worse. Like I said, if I can't find any better, this is it. There's a fragrance there, but it goes away so quick if not leaving you smell a little clean. And that's coming from me, who has a sensitive and picky nose.
