Morgan McCollum Alexa Rose Residency at The Common Well - VLOG 3 | 11/25/24
Hi, Morgan here, documenting my time at The Common Well in Garden City, ID and bringing you inside the space with me. This third week has brough a sense of aimlessness. It was my birthday this weekend, I'm navigating some family health things and as I say many times in the video, it's an off week. I still managed to snag 3 interviews early on. This is a summary of my third full week during the second wave of the Alexa Rose Foundation Residency and some of the things that happened this week.

Happy birthday🎉
Thank you! :)
I think you are spot on. I thought about starting a podcast so many times where artists could come on and talk about the challenges of being an artist, with a particular emphasis on struggles for Idaho artists. You are definitely highlighting some of those issues!
Thank you door all your support! It’s been great getting to have conversations about what is needed for the community to grow and survive
Looking forward to seeing the next episode. Keep up the good work
Doing great work
Amazing !
Thank you so much, Morgan! This was such a phenomenal conversation! I cannot believe how much we talked about. There were so many artists that you mentioned that I want to look up. We talked about how artists used to be able to make rent working a seasonal job, the realities of being an artist, and so much more! I rarely even get to skim the surface on some of these topics. Seriously, you are a great conversationalist! I hope we get to work together again in the future!😁
Wow! That guy is way beyond awesome!
Wow, nothing to compare this work to. Without equal! Mega coolness!
Awesome! You rock Ace!
Amazing video!!! Kudos!
Beautiful portraits, great words of advice. I am also reminded of the 10000 hour rule. I agree with everything you said. I usually tell my students that art is is a life long journey.
These are very nice, but are you taking these photos or using copyrighted images from other artists?
Thanks for watching! I don't know an exact answer to your question with regard to Tom's work, but copyright is an odd beast with a lot of gray area involving fair use. Transformative vs Derivative is the name of the game. I personally think Tom's work would fall into the transformative category if he is using someone else's image for inspiration. Of course the TH-cam comment section isn't the best place to learn about copyright law, but to date no one case has set a clear precedent and even within singular cases there can be works found to be derivative and transformative, it just depends on how the judge interprets the art and how well lawyers are able to make their arguments. th-cam.com/video/igtwv1067oM/w-d-xo.html is one of my favorite fun explainers
Excellent video SIR! You are showing the true value of the lessons learned in your training.
Thank you for checking out Tom’s work and watching!
Noble is awesome and I love his work!
What a fantastic artist. He absolutely has a distinctive style. I liked the parody he did with Black Sabbath’s Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but with Disney characters. Lol.

Thank you. It's so cool to be more in love with it now than I ever have been. I'm a lucky guy.
Thanks buddy, I really appreciate your time!
Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with me! I wish I had more shots of your actual work to show off in the video, but I think your enthusiasm and spirit definitely came through.
Bless his soul. He's such a great artist.
