Replacing the alternator on a 2002 Mazda B2300 2.3l Pickup truck.
Replacing the alternator on a 2002 Mazda B2300 2.3l Pickup truck.
After some research, I am sure you have discovered that your Mazda B2300’s engine comes from Ford and is used in the Ford Range. So, if you have a Ford Ranger, this should also apply to your vehicle.
Changing out the alternator on this truck is FUN, to say the least. It is a tight space and the alternator is located at the bottom portion of the engin below the Air Compressor, making it even more challenging.
Your access to the alternator will be through your passenger side wheel well.
I found it easier to break the bolt free by going in from the top and using a box end wrench, but easier to unscrew them from underneath with a socket wrench. Once the alternator bolts were out, the alternator did not want to leave its home. I then used a prybar to persuade it to come free.

    Thanks, Chief! I was training with a couple who bought a Hylas 54 sailboat. The dock lines are 1", so heaving those was a challenge. So I recommended they get a Monkey's Fist heaving line. Your video is everything you need to know about the heaving line, especially how to throw it like a pro. Cheers, Pete

      The batteries were not stuck but if they are then you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to try and gently coax them out, but be sure you are wearing your PPE. You don't want to get acid on you.

    I never would have looked on that "side" of the connector for the screw holes for the e902 guide. I have to use its full length and did not know how to secure it. No manual, and nowhere to find that detail. So thanks for letting me watch and see exactly how! LOL, One of the few reasons I love the interwebs.

    Nice work! What type of tape do you use for connecting the four sides together before gluing? Also, do you usually bevel the corners a fraction over 45° to ensure the outside corners are flush with no gaps?

    • @chiefsgarage
      @chiefsgarage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tape I used was just plain old masking tape, nothing special about the tape. The corners were cut to a 45° angle. I did not cut them past a 45°. BUT, I did, however, go back and recut the corners a few times during the test fit. This was because the compound miter saw was cutting just a little off square, on long cuts. Thanks for the reminder about cutting the 45° over a touch to help the corners snug up together. That is a great tip. It really does save time when installing molding in a home and doing intricate work. Thank you for your comment, watching the video, and the remainder on the 45’s. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. They're all good,but it somebody's preference to choose. The Bora NGX track saw guide has a clamping system.

    • @chiefsgarage
      @chiefsgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. It is an individual preference. I think either the NGX or the WTX might differ by which guide came out first and possibly available attachments. Something else to consider is not just how you are going to use the guide but what you are using it on. This could also be a determing factor in what type or style of guide you need. Meaning you might have to make a guide to accommodate the space you are in the thickness or size of the material you are cutting. You never know what you will run into. The fence that comes with the saw might be all you need. Thank you for the feedback!

    • @chiefsgarage
      @chiefsgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the WTX. The difference between WTX track and NGX track is the NGX's ability to be clamped from one side, and the ability to work with a new saw plate and non-chip strip which can be used to make zero clearance cuts.
