Royal & Imperial Belvedere Resort - May 2024

It appears that since the 2023 season the hotel has undergone a facelift - with the main ‘royal’ building now illuminated at night by LED lighting, and the reception and Poseidon bar undergoing a transformation. For such a big site it doesn’t take long to get around. The imperial building feels like it’s taken inspiration from the nearby palace of Knossos, with its winding corridors.
Hidden Festival @ The Point - Milton Keynes

Held in the former bingo hall below the Point building in Milton Keynes. What makes this event so important is that next year the current owner of the building plans to raise it to the ground. It's not the first time the building has hosted a nightclub, though previously the dance floor was on the upper floor.

What another fantastic night! I can hardly describe the awe-inspiring performance by the French aerial circus company Gratte Ciel (“Skyscraper”). This short video celebrates the first 25 years of the new town of MIlton Keynes. The celebration also unfortunately coincided with the winding up of the orginal Milton Keynes Development Corporation. I came across this footage after i found a VHS recording in a Local Milton Keynes Chartiy shop.

@@RidgewayMK Do you know for sure if The Point will be staying at this point? I'd really love to see The Point restored or something and I really don't want to see it getting turned into estates.
I worked for MKDC from 1974 until 1992. Some familiar faces there Lionel Grech photographer, Paul Griffiths, Cheryl Mongomery, Don Head, Sylvia Chase, Radcliffe Rollers, Paul Afleck, Harvey Brown.

wow, so many white people in mk then! the government and councils sorted that problem pretty rapidly didnt they!
Surely the council should be cleaning these more often? Especially with them wanting to encourage Advice Travel?
You’d have thought so, the council have graded the redway network over the past few years, though unfortunately this is an example of one of the higher priority routes. I don’t think they get the funds from central government that they should do because of their unique nature. They aren’t paths and they aren’t roads.
Excellent work clearing that section of path. Unfortunately this sort of general maintenance is seen as a low priority in the UK. The block paving on our estate looks shabby as the council have simply given up spraying for weeds and sending sweeping trucks around regularly.

I was 14 in 1992, I've lived in mk all my life since I was born in 1978. Its great seeing all the undeveloped land.
Is anyone else getting this in their recommended every single day?
Mate can you send me the whole clip of when you fly over furzton right at the start the clip fades just as you come up to my house on the stream then carries on facing furzton lake. If you could that would be great thanks I’m trying to get as many clips/ photos of furzton early days as that’s where I grew up. Thanks Ben
Ben I’m sorry these clips are from a vhs produced in 1992 for the MK Dev Corp staff and to sell at an exhibition celebrating the first 25yrs of MK. I don’t have the original footage, I’m not sure who would.
@@RidgewayMK thanks for your reply. Yeh I noticed images from this are in an airial shot gallery of mk. No worries Tbh i would of thought they would of documented a lot of the development of a brand new city I’m struggling with stuff for Furzton. But great old footage ofMk. Never seen this before so thanks for loading it online
