Devilman Franchise Retrospective Part 3: Devil Lady
This is by far my favourite anime. After finishing it in 2 days, it has inspired me to write poetry based off my own thoughts and feelings. Brilliant, and I adore the fact that it was rotoscoped.
It reminds me of that family guy episode where quagmire tried to make hitler work
Most people are npcs who enjoy the same storylines and characters, but in different settings. And what is common in many weebs is that they want to feel comforted by the same sense of humor and playful teasing prevalent in most anime. It is apparent that this anime is the antithesis to that wholesome feeling they crave. On top of all that the characters look too human and thus, ugly in anime terms. The weebs need sexualized characters to preoccupy their fantasies in between each episode. I believe if this anime was presented to non-weebs it would be well received for what it is trying to artistically accomplish in the realms of psychological horror. In short, the weebs hate it because they can’t jerk off to it.
ICO soundtrack hits
The ICO background gave me tears of joy
Aron argued with both male and females were they worked. So at least he complained about his employees "equally". Only the females took to social media & said he was a "horrible boss".
3:19 Viren is not lying though.
Are you dumb
Wouldn't go nagai world ova pretty much a continuation of the ova series
The shop owner is *literally* chumlee. The voice actor is the same one as from the Pawn Stars japanese dub
TGC’s games always manage to hold a special place in my heart; one of the very first games I ever played on the PS4 was the remake of Flower, and that footage playing in the background in the video really brought back some old memories.
If you accept the definition that a word is some letters, surrounded by a gap, than xnopyt, AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH.
This episode is probably my favorite one. It’s awesome
Just what i need. Now with Hundred Line Last Defense Academy trailer dropped i wanted to know what other works i missed.
nice video, leaving a comment for the almighty algorithm <3
As a girl and I love Devilman but even as a lesbian I think it’s a bit gross all the sexualization of all of the girls to the point when I first watched it I screamed every time a woman went on screen because I knew she was gonna show skin or something
Entirely fair. I think sexuality is an inherent part of the franchise, but they sure could handle it better most of the time.
I FUCKING LOVE LAIN 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
The downfall of go negai is sad
I disliked Crybaby so much. It has much stuff that distracts you from the central aspects of the series. A shame, but it's Netflix.
I saw this anime when it came out. I liked it.
I watched the anime a few months ago they really need to make a new devil lady anime considering that the last thing ever was cutie honey vs devilman lady and a pachinko machine based on the anime
🗣️🗣️🗣️
This anime triggers me. I was depressed when I watched it and I was alone in the dark watching it, feeling every second of it. It was a horrible experience but it was genuine.
I never thought I would see rilakkuma and an obscure mtv show in the same video 😂
It’s so cute!!! 💖
I remember watching this video years ago. I've just started playing Sky since it released on Steam, and found myself remembering your video-essay. Finally the algorithm has brought it back around to me, and I really appreciate once again your view on video games as works of art. Discovering Sky after its 5 years in development, it certainly has its flaws, and many criticisms directed towards tgc by the community I see as valid. However, fundamentally Sky is an artistic experience, and an artistic experience that could only exist in the form of a video game. Exploring the cycle of life and rebirth through your character, learning how to fly and how to solve the puzzle of making friends without a language, these can't be recreated in other mediums to this extent. TGC has tapped into these aspects of the medium in ways that I'm surprised haven't become more widespread. Watching your video that first time made me want to play Sky, but it hadn't yet come out on PC, where I play most of my games. Now I finally have that chance, and I've already begun to treasure the experiences I've had with the game. So yeah, cheers, this was a good video on both watches. Will probably return to watch it again!
Incredibly kind of you to say. I think TGC is in a unique spot for attempting to make non-toxic online experiences. Players will so often circumvent restrictions, or find ways to inverse them. For example Apex Legends had the great addition of the ping system, but pretty quickly players found ways to grief with it. Be it pinging bad items or spamming the locator on their own death boxes. I think you have to look to smaller games that have a tighter focus. Something like the Kind Words series, I've yet to play it, might fit into the same field of TGC's approach to designing positive online experiences. I'm happy you got something out of this video on both viewings.
Had a similar experience as this. Not in what they did exactly but when you're a guy who is weird and you meet a girl who is equally weird you both kind of agree "this is our chance... let's be weird."
Disappointed to see that you skipped violence jack, would have loved to see you tackle that one with how awful it gets, but the devilman connections are some of the most interesting.
No, Journey is a masterpiece. I still think about that game to this day. I saw Sky was free on the Play store last night and downloaded it.
I wonder if you're still keeping up with Sky nowadays, it's become a much bigger game today, yet still holding onto its core values. An almost full PC version of the game is available on Steam now and the full release of it is closing in. Maybe you'd like to give that a try!
I have really been meaning to get back to Sky. My trouble with live service games just tends to be that I'm not the type of person to stick with a game for super long. But I'd def like to jump back in on PC.
@@wordsmaybe2456Oh, that's good to hear! Will you be making a video on it if you do? Or if not, maybe a post in your blog or even just update me here with a comment :o Sorry hehe, just really curious!
Unsure if I'd make a video. If something really inspires me, sure. But there is nothing on my slate of upcoming videos I can easily fit it into. At the very least I will try to remember to at least post about it on Twitter a little bit. I do appreciate you being so interested in my thoughts though.
Hey man, really enjoyed your video. I'm a huge BiA fan and share your skepticism about a potential BiA 4, especially after Gearbox's past failures and the way the gaming market has shifted since '05. Either way, I'm glad people like you are making content about these games all these years later because they deserve to be heard about and played, especially by folks who didn't grow up with them. PS: I highly recommend modded BiA if you haven't already. Rendroc's Warzone mod is my favorite and addresses many of the things you talk about here. Cheers brother!
I'm actually not familar with the mod scene for these games. I'll chech it out!
3:40-3:48 Literally me in high school
Great mini-doc. I just started playing Sky in late November 2022 on my Android phone. I have been a constant player ever since. The fact that new seasons, days and even areas drop fairly frequently make it interesting and certainly the social cooperation is a great factor. From a Moth to experience player who now helps those as others helped me, its different concept than past video and those multi-player online games. You mentioned The Legend of Zelda & the Ocarina of Time. I loved that game but it was still solo and followed the typical rules of play with levels, bosses and and final showdown though the element of time shifting was cool as you had to figure out whether young or adult Link was the best player for a given scenario. I found about Journey later as I became interested in TGC. Don't know if I'll play or not but one can certainly see how those ideas, gameplay and even environments were carried forward to Sky.
God, I wish this adaptation could have gone up to the festival episode. It gets so good, and it's presentation of this story captured me much more than the manga did.
Mainstream Devilman is the influencal work in the manga and anime industry. It may mot be mainstream USA, but this is a Japanese media. Devilman >>>>>> aot
i love this game so much but.. lately its just idk i think it lost its spark and it just doesnt make me so happy anymore and it makes me sad but i stil love it :)
12:43 It wouldn't have been as "known" if they had released it months later.
i could stare at the sets for years. i love all the little things like the realistic outlets
This is my favorite anime and movie since I watched it two months ago
Shin-Devilman isn't meant to be taken too seriously, it's only meant to give the reader some thought provoking points that sometimes Evil People are somehow influenced by situations of their past that leads them into being Evil. Thus explains why Demons manipulate people's minds so in turn, people do evil things later on. Shin-Devilman also includes a really good final chapter when it ties everything back to what Akira has lost.
The version of Devilman Manga that we got was the re-released one that was made in the late 80s to give context to Devilman OVA episodes. The Devilman Manga from the 70s originally started with Akira being bullied at school and Miki coming to save him.
i was so fortunate during my first couple of months playing sky to have found someone to teach me where to find spirits and how to play the game. They don’t play anymore, but i think of them often. Whenever I find a new player looking for help, i think back to when i was just like them. I already enjoy helping others, so playing a game like Sky is literally the best (also i’m always a ho for a gamethat allows me to freely fly however i want lol).
Worth mentioning for anyone who may see this that there are a lot of subtle nods to the Tatami Galaxy in this movie. The majority of the characters in this movie debuted in the Tatami Galaxy, so it seems like they throw some cool nods to that, i.e. breast rock climbing wall
I stayed till the end out of respect for lost Dead By Daylight time.
Off topic, but your warlock looks very pretty
I really like the idea of writing a character sheet for your BG character! Cool idea for RPING
It's generally standard for me anymore. Certainly helps when its a game I've played before so I know what I'm working with. But it is super useful to both keep a character consistent, and try to push myself to do different paths than I usually do.
I love Sky. This game literally changed my life. I've been playing it for 10 months already and I simply can't stop. It's so welcoming and friendly, it gives me so many positive emotions every day! I've met so many amazing people there and had lots of unforgettable moments that will always stay in my memories. I've even met my true love there from the other end of the world! I don't know what I would do without this game. I would definitely be much less happy than I am now! Everyone who's never played this game... please, just install it and try. You won't regret it.
do yo9u have the full gameplay? i would like to watch
i just went thru a bunch of ur videos. i am taking your reccommendations to heart. i now will read chainsaw man before watching "do it yourself!!!"
