April Wrap Up - Amish in April, People April, & Old School April!
I need to do something like this.
The amount of unread books on our shelves js definitely something us book lovers should contemplate! 😊
Loved seeing all your books and pictures! I need to some nature wtiting.
I often find nature writing quite calming, almost like appreciating a nice walk outdoors.
Good luck!
Thank you! 😊
Good luck! 🤞
Thanks!
I have over 800 books that are unread lol. But I do plan to clear some off my list next year.
You can do it! One reason I wanted to do a second round of the challenge is because it felt like a huge relief to tackle a chunk of books on my shelves. The effort is worth the reward!😊
This should be an easy challenge for you.
I know I can do it, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to complete the challenge within the ideal 2 month timeframe. Fingers crossed! 😂
@@lindseyreads5450 time management; no booktube, no movies, sorry Fable short walks, just kidding. It will be fun to see your success.
Haha you had me going there for a bit! 😂
I'm REALLY late in watching this but I have 2 Alys Murray's on my shelf. I need to pick her up and try it! Her covers are so pretty!
Never too late to comment on a video! Alys is a new to me author. Looking forward to finding out if I like her writing style. 😊
@@lindseyreads5450 me too! The ones I have are both summery though (I think)
That Mt Rainier book looks interesting! I love seeing that mountain whenever I fly to Seattle. Beautiful.
I love seeing the mountains everyday. It never gets old! 😊
Well welcome back! I was wondering what was keeping you away. I'm glad you're back. View from a Sketchbook is so cute! I love the variety of birds where we live. The first time I saw a bluebird was at the house I currently live in. Does your shirt say: I read past my bedtime? Great pictures of your vacation. I'm sad for the bookseller woman. But you definitely benefited.
My shirt says I read past my bedtime! I purchased it in Virginia at an bookstore outlet where shirts were 3 dollars each. I couldn't pass them up! 😊
@@lindseyreads5450 That's a GREAT deal! I would have bought some too.
Good to see you Lindsey! Sounds like your travels were wonderful (great photos!), but it is always nice to get home, right? I'm the same with audio books and my mind wanders. For some reason I do better with non-fiction audio than fiction audio. Do you know about the Big Sur Condor Sanctuary? Don't remember their socials, but I know that Cali Condor has covered them on her YT channel in the past. TTYL!
Yes it's very good to be back home! Thank you for the Big Sur recommendation. I haven't heard of it. 😊
Plenty on your book shelves to keep you busy. Happy reading from Lancashire, England.
Thank you! You too! 😊
I live about an hour from the Shenandoah area ... Such a beautiful spot! Loved all the nature books and LIW books.
Wow how lucky to live so close to the valley! I'd move there if I could. 😊
Glad you had a chance to do some sightseeing and book shopping on your work trip!
Thank you. It made the trip more bearable that's for sure!
I also love that area of VA. I’ve never paid attention to the name Gladys Taber before. Then I was watching a video from Mitzi Reads and Writes yesterday and she mentioned Gladys Taber and how she had never heard of Taber before until Lizzie Faye Loves Books and someone else recommended Taber to her. Suddenly Gladys Taber is everywhere.
I've noticed that Taber is going around Booktube too! She deserves the attention. 😊
A Gladys Taber gold mine!!!
I'll have to see if I can find more of Gladys Taber's books when I'm in Boston. 😊
I feel like a LFL outside of a nursing home would be GOLD! 😂
Haha yes it's a fun idea. I often will see residents sitting nearby and it's nice to chat about books.
@@lindseyreads5450 Bring some Werthers Original and join the party!

Loved this video :) you're always so happy!
I am so glad you decided to join booktube!
Me too!! ❤️
Yay for retail therapy!!

Congratulations Lindsey! And I totally forgot to ask you a question. I remember I wanted to think of something clever and then totally forgot. Sorry. I'm so glad I was able to visit Victoria Island in 1997; we didn't need passports back then. We went through via Port Townsend, WA. Was your other dog named Tucker? I'm trying to remember. I love the story of how you rescued your first dog even though you weren't even in the market. LOL Too funny. Those dogs that go at you and Fable aggressively, like the chihuahua mix is just bad etiquette on both the animal and the owner. I don't blame Fable for not trusting other dogs after those experiences. I'm glad you all haven't been bit. If something like that happened to me, the dog would get a foot to the face or thrown to the ground and the cops called. People who own dogs but don't leash them need to be reminded they don't get special privileges and to be respectful of others and obey the leash laws. Did the owner at any time call their dog back? so many people dislike Wuthering Heights. It's been a long time since I've read it. Congratulations again!
@@BookZealots You actually did ask me a question for the Q&A on remembering books at the end of the year. I answered it in this video ☺️ The dog issue is so stressful for Fable and me. The guy didn't try to call his dog back. He was so far away it was ridiculous! I was kicking out and waving my hands at the dog. It eventually ran into a parking lot and got distracted there and luckily didn't charge back at us. I hate how the unleashed dogs can appear anywhere here. It's absolutely crazy!
@@lindseyreads5450 LOL I'm going to rewatch the video and put the captions on. I don't know how I missed that. 🤦♀ I'm such a dork. Wow, that is really unsettling about the dogs comin from anywhere. I would be as frazzled as Fable, not being able to enjoy a walk and expecting attacks. =/ I'm glad the crazy chihuahua had a short attention span and got distracted.
@@lindseyreads5450 Okay, I rewatched the video. And thank you for answering my questions. =) I like your answers. One more question, would you say you're a visual learner and do you think, (does this make it two questions?) you remember nonfiction better than fiction is because the fictional stories start to morph into each other? Especially series.
I am a visual learner. Fiction sometimes does start to meld together with time. I couldn't tell you the plot of a mystery 6 months after reading it but I will remember if I liked or hated it. A book has to have something that make it unique or a reread for it to truly stick with me.

Great job Lindsey 👏 👏. Gladys Taber is a comfort Author for me also ❤
❤️😊
Loved this video :) you're always so happy! ❤
Aw thank you! I try and never film if I'm in a bad mood. There's enough negativity in the world without me adding to it! Haha
❤❤❤
☺️
How far into miss Julia is that? I haven’t read beyond the first even though I have 8 lol
I've finished the first 13 books in the Miss Julia series. That reminds me to read another one since I'm going to North Carolina next week for work! I wish it was in the pretty Asheville area, the setting of the series.
@@lindseyreads5450 How many are there!? I'm proud of you for reading so many!
I think there's around 20? I'm not sure if the series is complete or if there will be more.
@@lindseyreads5450 interesting!
haha! We're reading where the sidewalk ends because it felt nostalgic for me, but I'm also not loving it!
Oh how funny! I didn't give it a chance by reading one or two poems to see if I liked it better as an adult.
@@lindseyreads5450 haha thats okay! Its a big ole book and probably not worth keeping!
I neeeeed to get better about doing this!
It was actually a positive experience for me taking away two stacks of books. More room on my shelves for great books!
@@lindseyreads5450 YES! It feels so refreshing
wow, well done! This is exciting! And the only one I would hesitate on was the last one, but you said you've already read on like it. Isn't it interesting how we bring a book home excited about it at the time, but then we never reach for it? How do you feel now that you've pulled these off the shelves?
It is interesting to think about how our perception of books change. I did notice how almost all of the books I'm unhauling are ones I got for a few cents or were free from the little free libraries. I need to be more thoughtful with bringing in cheap or free books so that they don't clutter my bookshelves in the future.
@@lindseyreads5450 Yes! I'm feeling the same way about better quality books to bring in, not just books to read.
How fun! Smart on the photography book!
Haha yes the Photo Ark was the perfect book for the 400+ prompt. I'm now reading a 1200+ page book for that prompt. Paying for the easy out earlier last week?? Haha 😂
@@lindseyreads5450 WOWZA!
Fun to see your picks for the weekend!
Thank you!
The little house series sounds so interesting - I didn’t know of that one. The Mark Twain must’ve been fascinating. 📚
They're both worth a try to see if you'd like them. The series are much harder to find than Twain though haha
I didn’t love when you reach me!
Your review for When you Reach me almost had me straight away unhauling it. At least I gave it a try and completed the prompt. I'll now unhaul it from my shelves! Haha
@@lindseyreads5450 haha I hate to turn people off from books, but also, HOW did this win so many awards?!
Awards are baffling sometimes! The first year's Newberry winner to a huge boring history book made no sense whatsoever!
@@lindseyreads5450 I agree!! So many times newberrys flop for me. But then there are others that are so good
Fully support Retail therapy!
The town where my niece lives in Illinois has a beautiful Main Street. And the houses are these old Victorians. Just beautiful.
The Illinois town sounds lovely! I really like small downtowns much more than big city downtowns that can be annoying finding parking and fighting crowds.
Remembering Main Street looks fascinating. I love old timey stuff like that. Our downtown is so tiny and I love seeing old pictures of what it used to look like. I used to adore the Golden Books. I always had one in my arms when I was little. It looks like you got a lot more romcoms than you usually do. I hope you enjoy all of your new to you books! Fun haul!
I love small downtowns too much more than huge cities. I was thrilled to find the Golden Book collection. It doesn't include reprints of the actual stories but the history of the publisher. I have a feeling I'm going to be reading many of the children's books while reading the book!
@@lindseyreads5450 We agree. We also like small towns. Big downtowns stress me out. When you mentioned reading many of the golden books it reminded me of a picture I have. I pestered one of my father's friends, I loved him, to read my book to me. Once I started reading it was hard to get adults to read to me. I wanted to see if I could see the title of the book. But I can't find the photo. =/ It might be in my journal. Happy reading~
What a nice memory. I hope you find the picture!
Hi! Just discovered your channel. I'm immediately gonna binge. You have amazing taste ❤❤
Enjoy your readathon ❤
😊
Having the cover printed on the book certainly makes reading better than dealing with a dust cover. I like finding surprises in used books, but to find newspaper clippings, wow, that's fun! You did quite well only getting 8 books. I hope you enjoy them all. Is the Frontier Lady a romance or more about the frontier?
Frontier Lady is a nonfiction book about a woman and her family making her way to the California gold country and the early days of California being a state from what I gather reading the back copy.
@@lindseyreads5450 That sounds really interesting. I look forward to your reviews.
That edition of Walden is gorgeous. A very nice haul!
I was very pleased to find such a pretty copy of Walden!
Glad you're participating in Deck of TBRathon!
It's been so much fun! ☺️
You annotated Jane Austen P&P looks very pretty. I have the annotated versions by David Shapard, but it isn't nearly as pretty. I'm glad to hear you're no longer suffering from the stomach bug or whatever put you under the weather.
I need to check what other annotated editions the publisher has produced. They're very pretty but slightly unwieldy to hold.
I really love Lucille Ball. What a beautiful book! Where did you happen to find the book? I definitely need to track a copy down. 😊
I found the Lucille Ball book at a library bookstore. I already donated it back to the store otherwise I'd have been happy to send it to you!
Great to see you Participating in GarbAugust. No worries, one trashy book is okay too, but your choices sound great.
Thank you! I'm having fun reading trashy books! Haha
Have you ever done a bookshelf tour? I'd love to spend an afternoon with you while looking through your books. I'm always intrigued when I can see the titles.
I haven't done an official bookshelf tour yet but it's been something I'd like to do! Thanks for the encouragement! 😊
I’m on the mood reading team for Deck of TBRathon. So even though we’re on competing teams, I wish you luck on the red team and with your other readathons!
Thank you! Best of luck to you as well! I've been having so much fun with the challenges and the mystery of finding out my next book. 😊
I had no idea there were so many Little House spin-offs!
I wish I would have known about the spin offs of Little House when I was a kid.
