Fast XC Trails | Mountain Biking at Devil's Den State Park, Arkansas
Devil's Den State Park is known as the birthplace of mountain biking in Arkansas. In the late 1980s, it became home to the state park system's first designated mountain bike trail, Fossil Flats (00:05). The trails featured in this video form a loop in the park's northern section.

      I ride a Trek Fuel EX 7. I think you will be perfectly fine with a rigid from the Zilker Park to the 360 access. I saw quite some gravel bikes on this section of the trail before. From 360/Mopac access the trail becomes much rockier and some sections are really technical.

    These are the trails I started on back in 2018. I've since moved to Montana but I still come here. Cypresswood is a good system too if you are ever in the area.

      Agree. These trails are great for starting mountain biking but not much elevation change though (like in Montana).

    I’m Late to the party but the section with the rock steps you have to build momentum to get over the first boulder and the bike will just rocket up. If you lose any momentum or the front end comes up you probably won’t make it.

      Agree. Keep momentum is important when dealing with rock gardens.

An analogy would be the interface between dense, cold salty water mass, and a less dense water mass. The formation of "fingers" of denser water occurs...

      @@BjarneLinetsky Good to know. I thought it was associated with the subduction of the Farallon plate or a hot spot. Does seismic tomography show some of the dripping or delaminated lithosphere? Maybe it's also worth to check the geochemical signals.

      A gravel bike is perfect for many of the trails there, but you do wish you had suspension for the bigger jumps.

    I tried Walnut Creek Park with my bike this past Sunday. Total disappointment with walkers and off-leach dogs (allowed) all over the mountain bike trails. Very poor signage as well.

    Around 1:39 what ya wanna do is turn right and go up - then head back around towards this spot after crossing this field with a mound in the middle. You catch a fun little drop and it flows real well. Also, I think you took this jump line section of trail backwards but it's hard for me to tell where you got off there... I was lucky enough to meet some locals who gave me a good tour including the best turns to make :) Super fun trail!
