I'm fishing in Ken Ma's boat with him and Richard C. We had an awesome day and caught many keepers (over 27 inches). Ken has taken me out with him many times since and is an excellent fishing Buddy.

Very muddy banks but the stripers come in with the tidal bore directly from the ocean. Very good to eat but this one is too small. They have to be 27 inches in the Stewiake River, NS.

@@USCFlash I have a 16 foot aluminum boat but the kayak is meant for big water. It's very stable and takes the waves no problem. I just have to pick my day carefully and maybe not use a live mackerel as bait again, lol. Thanks for your concerns. Cheers

I never seen a shark jumping out of the water before, that was crazy.

When you play with the big fish, only Ugly Stick will do. I use an ugly stick rigged with chew toy bait to play with my 100 lb Cane Corso and then take the same rod out on the great slave lake for monster lake trout.

thanks, another shark with some dickheads hook lodged in its mouth or gills. grow some balls get in the water and do some spearfishing i would sub to that.
If you are fishing in the open ocean in a freaking kayak you are crazy.

I had no idea what it was. I've never seen a white shark before and didnit even know that they were in our waters. If I knew I would not have been out there alone in a kayak, lol. Not sure if it was a great white, but that's definitely something you don't want on the end of your line!
It was confirmed by 3 different biologists that it's a juvenile great white. Even though I never thought it was a shark while out there, yes it's something a person does not want on your line especially while fishing from a kayak. I will be adding more videos this summer. Serious question not intended to cause any offense: why didn't you try and wear it out a bit, and cut the line right above the leader? Or was the gear so light that it wouldve spooled you?
No offense taken. I was using a Shimano Thunnus 8000 reel and the drag was almost tightened all the way. It stripped line off the reel just prior to the jump like I had no drag on at all. I was afraid it was going to spool me then have hundreds of yards of braid to deal with and that would have been deadly for a dolphin/porpous (I never knew it was a shark). I was anchored as well in a strong current so a fish that size could flip me quite easily when anchored. If I wasn't anchored it would have just towed me around for a long time until it tired out. I was a mile off shore alone in a kayak. I still think it was smartest move to cut the line. Cheers

It has been confirmed by 3 different institutes that is was a juvenile great white shark. There have been several more sightings since mine and I had another breach a lot closer to the boat I was fishing from just a week ago in the same area, however, my camera was off. Thanks for joining my channel. I'm working on catching my over 40 inch striper and while out fishing a boat beside us had a great white take their striper that they were reeling in. It jumped just like in my kayak and a lot closer so the video would have been awesome but the cameras were not on :( Cheers
That would have been some wicked shark steaks. I would have liked to see Rick try to get it in the Kayak. I’m still fascinated how he even sat up on that hot dog kayak thingy. I can barely keep upright in a canoe with my hands in my pockets let alone fighting a pissed off shark. Wow.
LOL but seriously sharks are protected and can be caught if you get a licence but they are all catch and release. My kayak is over 3 feet wide and very stable. I actually stand up to fish all the time while fishing for small mouth bass but never while fishing in the ocean. Thanks for your comments :)

I had no idea it was a shark and if I knew I certainly would not have stayed for another hour to fish. If I knew sharks were in those waters I would not have been out there alone to start with. What size hook were you using? Live lining a mack or blue out on a yak is a good way to hook a shark.
The hooks were 3/0. It works well for stripers too. I hooked another shark out there a couple days ago but it just cut the braid and was gone in a couple seconds. We were not using live bait though. I was using good tackle for big fish and I was after a striped bass around 4 feet not a fish that is around 7 feet. I could tell that it was way too much fish when it did the run just prior to its breach. I had a lot of drag on and it took that line like I had no drag on.
