So - heart rate, power meter, even exertion scale , wind speed or in test video would all help here.

I’m sorry, but there is a 0% chance the speed differences you are pulling out are anywhere near accurate. If we were talking about .25-.5 of an mph difference, plausible. But 2+ mph is just delusional. That’s like comparing an mtb to a gravel bike.

That's not an insignificant amount of extra speed 😳 I've always said Comfort=Speed, I will be able to go longer and faster on a more comfortable bike even if I lose some watts to get that comfort

I 'raced' in '21 and' 22. Definitely a great course to ride. The local club, AAVC, also puts on a series of gravel events for free throughout the summer, the trilogy series. At three distances 100mi, 100km, and 50km.I recommend checking out the one coming up on labor day weekend that includes a section of DTE green loop.

Hard meditation - In nature, not fast enough to kill myself if I make a mistake, not slow enough that 10 miles takes 4 hours. I can pick routes away from cars and around trees, water and wind.

It's honestly relaxing. I love being out there with my thoughts and moving as fast or slow as I want. It's more freeing than a walk or a drive.
