The tale I've heard for my kitten is that she (and we're guessing her brother) were accidentally separated from their mother before they were ready. In the time since I started caring for her (10ish months) she hasn't encountered another cat, so she doesn't seem to realize that humans like cat purrs, but she knows I keep her fed and safe. She's made actions that seem to say 'daddy...' though

Cats see humans as their personal servents.

Wit my lady cat Truus (sorry, Dutch name) I didn't have the kitten time. Instead, she suddenly showed up in my front yard on september 12th 2015. I guessed her to be like 6 or 7 months old. I put some food in front of her and she went through it like a snow plough 😀 She had run away from a lady just a block away from me and that lady told me the cat was 1 1/2 years old. And I said to myself "if that cat is 1 1/2 years old, then I am Snow White". Because a 1 1/2 years old cat doesn't grow in length, only in girth. Well this kitty grew in length. Anyway she chose ME as her human in 2015, and never looked back. This year (2024) she will be with me for 9 years. She also brought me gifts... some were pretty weird. First a mouse, then a chicken filet. Must have nicked if off a barbecue. Then a sjaslick (meat and condiment on a stick). Then a crust of cheese. Then back to mice again. She loved to hide them inside or behind the hamper. Phew! I never knew that such a FOUL smell could come from such a small animal. So according to my calculations she is now 9 years old. Her son, who was born in my house in 2016 had lived with my brother for 3 years. Then my brother had fallen down the stairs in his home and suffered brain damage, and needed special care. So I took the cat into my home again and he is doing great too. *WARNING* *Terrible cat injury* You say that purring is not a sign of contentment... I have experienced that too. Many years ago I got me a 5 weeks old kitty that had been abandoned. Four weeks later I unfortunately had to let her go... Appearantly a sigarette was still burning in the ashtray when I had to go out of my house. When I returned the kitty was in a very bad shape. She must have tried to play with the cigarette smoke, and must have bitten into the cigarette. Her face was badly burned. She had lost about half of her tongue and she had a hole in her pallet. So I had to let her go. But she was still purring when she was in all that pain.

We literally saved a half grown runt from the side of the road. I'm pretty sure he was thrown away. He doesn't meow or chitter because he learned quickly to be quiet. He must be in constant touch with someone though or around us. He is hyper before he crashes. I mean apocalyptic hyper. I love him apocalyptic hyper or angelic sleeping. He's ours and we're his.

Meanwhile my friend's cat likes to walk up to me, make eye contact, flop onto her side then roll over to display her VERY soft belly, and then if I so much as take a single finger to her floof she will get pissed, hiss, and run off. She will do this even when I'm the only one there. She is young and not blind nor deaf. I think she just knows I want the belly rubs and she takes satisfaction in denying me those rubs.

This probably won't get read but I'm putting it out there anyway. I have a Korean Jindo. Like Huskies, Jindos are escape artists. And he did everything he could to get out of the yard and hunt when I was at work - OR, look for me. He ripped boards off the fence to get out, among other things. He was a rescue and I could tell he had been physically abused as a puppy. Once I retired, stopped traveling for business and was home pretty much 24/7, his behavior did a 180! He wants nothing more than to be with me. Whether on a walk, in the backyard, or just watching TV, he's by my side. We have our regular routine which he pretty much determined. For example, after an evening walk & dinner, he comes to me with a ball in his mouth at precisely 6:30pm to play fetch indoors. How he knows what time it is amazes me, but we've been doing it for years now and it makes him so happy! And I wouldn't have it any other way!

My cat brings me gifts of my lost socks

I used to have a cat that imprinted on me. She was like my own child. She disappeared in 2019 and the most likely end to the story is that she was taken by peta and put down. I'll never forgive that.

Thank you for all this extremely usefull info. Now i can forward and ask my friends to forward. There are too many people that don't realise dogs are sentient beings. Thankyou again!! I live in Africa and most people are uneducated when it comes to animals.

Before my little one was born in 2009, I was living recklessly for 12 years because I lost my mother to a car accident in 1997 in 2009 I was sick with a brain tumor a month after losing my grandfather, and I was on the road to self-destruction his birth later that year not always saved my life, but he gave me a brand new heart and a new purpose in life since then he has made me the best I’ve ever been. He is the best to ever happen to me first born and only male of five puppies. His mother even let me handle him and his four other sisters. Sadly, he lost both of his parents and I am all he has. He is all I need. I used to worry about being alone, and he filled that void. I named him Mortecai which means “ save you from death” because that’s what he did for me. I love him so much more than anything else in this entire universe.

My beautiful fur baby has turned out to be the most loyal and loving sweetheart. She was abused as a very tiny kitten so i wasn't sure how things would go, when licking me her eyes r closed and we play fight but her claws r never out and such gentle bites plus the occasional lick, but i know from these vidoes she loves me and that love is returned very much so. I think she was sent for me from my cat Angel who lived up to her name, but sadly I had to say see u later on a few years ago and that killed me but last year I was asked to give a home to this lovely girl and so glad i did it 😍😻 xo ❤

One of my cats does all of these (even has a unique meow that he reserves for me and me alone). The other two do some of these. Angel does some of these with my fiancé too so she thinks we’re both her parents. Victor is mainly the one who leaves toys, bottles, and yes even the trash in the trash can he gets into in the middle of the floor. He used to take my cables for my gaming consoles and drop them at the foot of my bed while I slept but I have long since cleaned those up. I guess he knows I’m a gamer and offers me gifts of entertainment 😂

My cat has exhibited all these traits except for bringing me kills she has. However she has also protected me from dangerous spiders like Brown Reclouses

Most of my cats are all 10. But a couple don't care for a belly rub or sit on my lap. But are very very loving and love tp be petted.

So far so good! I might be a parent to these silly little furry buggers!

I had a cat once... A SPOOOOOKY CAT!! It had 5 tails and no legs. But the really spooky thing about it... 4 of those tails had feet!

I have accepted that I just cannot live without a cat.

My feral kitty didn’t warm up to coming in right away but she became our sweetest friend. She lived to 21.

We were asked to be a foster home for a two year old cat named Smokey. After a few days, we fell in love with him and decided to adopt. He brings us so much joy. ❤❤❤

My 2 cats, mother and son. Mother was a rescue animal. They do all of tgese but the last one. The son, since he was raised in my closet bonded fiercely with me. Such sweet cats.

I have one right now on her back on my lap clawing at my chest to rub her and another one napping between my feet. Another one is two feet away in a cat bed and the other behind me on a cat tree. They are all within touching distance. Three 18 year olds and one 16 year old. They are my family and restore me when I return from the world of men.

One of my (two) cats senses when I'm going to use the phone and comes in to sit on my lap and get in on the call.

All good things, but ZeFrank, on the series Dear Kitten pointed out that also, cats will sit with their butt pointing to the things they love/enjoy. I have seen it with numerous cats, including the one I live with now. I get the cat-butt-point all the time and it is very reassuring 🥰😻👍🏻👍🏻

We have proven dogs feel pain at a physical and emotional level so deliberately failing a dog is an act of serious abuse! Dogs alongside primates are truly social animals that need other companions around constantly. They only live 12 years on average so show them the respect they have earned

My two current cats that my fiance and I raised from 3 week old kittens tend to follow me into the bathroom when I need to use it. One will curl up either behind me, in the tub, in the sink, or the top shelf and the either will choose any other open spot. Sometimes they'll even follow their daddy[my fiance] into the kitchen when he's cooking or cleaning.

My cat likes to follow me around outside, which is fine unless I have to go more than a block away. Had to carry her back home a few times before I could go anywhere.

Most of what you say is true but.. like a kid sometimes they have to be punished..otherwise they want learn what’s not permissible and what is… same way as giving them a reward when they do what you want..
