Surfing Palm Beach, Florida Fall/Winter 2016
When most people think of Palm Beach, thoughts of big mansions, big boats, celebrities, sunny beaches, and clear water. While that's not wrong, Palm Beach is also known for some seriously fun waves. It's not a consistent spot, maybe only seeing 100 to 125 days of decent surf per year, but when the swell, wind, tide, and other conditions align during the fall and winter, the place can really turn on. Here's a little edit I made of a winter season in 2016 when I lived there for a couple years. Hope you enjoy!

Surfing Florida's Treasure Coast and Space Coast Spring 2020, some of the best waves in years!
มุมมอง 3653 หลายเดือนก่อน
During the Covid-19 pandemic when most of the world was social distancing, I was isolating in some of the best Spring surf Central Florida has had in years. Here is a compilation of some of the waves I got between Indian River County to Brevard County.
Inshore Slam While Wade Fishing Indian River Lagoon near Sebastian Inlet.
มุมมอง 1214 หลายเดือนก่อน
I went out around Sebastian Inlet to wade fish the Indian River Lagoon one morning and got on the bite! Using the new Z-man Mulletron 3.3" paddle tail, I was able to getting a nice inshore slam (snook, redfish, and seatrout) in only a couple hours. Guided trips now booking so message me if you're interested in getting out there and getting on the fish!
Catching a huge snook wade fishing Florida's Indian River Lagoon.
มุมมอง 634 หลายเดือนก่อน
While wade fishing Indian River Lagoon, I ended up catching a big snook on a topwater plug between some docks. However, the snook decided to zig-zag and wrap up between multiple pilings. Thinking my line would get cut by some oysters or barnacles on the docks, I quickly went after the fish to keep it from breaking off. Check out the video to see a unanimous victory!
The Best Wade Lures for Inshore Fishing Indian River Lagoon, Florida
มุมมอง 1294 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you're looking to inshore fish Florida's Indian River Lagoon on foot whether wading or from shore, this is exactly what you need. Don't complicate things, all you really need is about 5 lures to keep things simple and pack light. This setup and the lures mentioned have been with me landing: -snook up to 44" -seatrout up to 26" -redfish up to 37". -flounder up to 23"
DOA Shrimp Hack: Rigging Weedless
มุมมอง 424 หลายเดือนก่อน
The DOA Shrimp is one of the most productive inshore fishing lures for Florida and much of the Southeast United States. However, many complain it's design leads to snags when skipping under mangroves or docks. Check out this video to see how to reconcile those issues and make a great lure even better!
Fishing for Seatrout, Redfish, and Snook in Pine Island Sound, Florida
มุมมอง 2K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Despite living in Florida for over 10 years I had never fished on the west coast until this trip. So when my buddy Bill invited me along on his boat after doing some research on the inshore fishery there, I was all in! Thankfully I went along because we ended up having a banner day on the water. Between the two of us we caught roughly 15 fish including multiple slot and overslot sea trout (spec...
Fly Fishing for Rainbow and Brown Trout in Sun Valley, Idaho

Went to visit family in Sun Valley, Idaho, and decided to get out on the water and brush up on my fly fishing skills by going after some local trout. Starting off at Silver Creek Preserve targeting some large brown trout, we then went to try our luck on the Big Wood River and smaller tributaries along Warm Springs. Long story short, we did pretty well despite the circumstances and got a mixed b...

Catching an Inshore Slam Fishing Mosquito Lagoon, Florida
มุมมอง 284ปีที่แล้ว
Went out to Mosquito Lagoon with a friend to go target some big redfish, trout, and snook, and ended up getting all three for an inshore slam! What is so cool is that the first time I came to Florida, I visited a friend in 1998 I shorefished off their dock in Mosquito Lagoon with live shrimp for a couple of days. In the first few hours, I caught all kinds of fish and was blown away by the biodi...

While stopping through Paris, France on our way home from our around-the-world trip, I was looking at some vegetation under the bridge in front of the Eiffel Tower and wondered if there were any fish in the river. A quick online search revealed that not only is there fish, but according to a group called French Touch Fishing, there is a pretty dedicated group of urban fisherman that catch some ...
Shore and Offshore Fishing Along the Coast of Croatia for Seabass, Snapper, Dentex, and Mackerel

I've always wanted to go to Croatia because the pictures of the Dalmatian coast along the Adriatic Sea always looked incredible. But when I did some research on the culture, food, and geography, I saw that not only was there water everywhere but their cuisine was heavily influenced by seafood. That meant one thing: there must be good fishing! So off I went sightseeing and fishing, starting in Z...
Shore Fishing Corsica for Dentex, Grouper, Barracuda, and Bream!

While spending a month traveling around the Mediterranean island of Corsica, of course I had to sample the shore fishing on offer. Despite the challenges of steep cliffs, long walks, crowded harbors, and blistering heat later on in the trip, I s...

I'll be trying the same thing soon. This is good info.
I just randomly searched fishing in Paris river lol and I'm not disappointed..
Same
Haha thank you. I honestly did the same on my way there waiting in the airport. I had already been traveling with my fishing gear so I had to give it a try. Definitely not something most people know about but but 100% worth it for the novelty factor.
@@backwaterbrian great video brother and catching the moment next to the Eiffel Tower must of been unforgettable. Peace be with you God bless
@@1KINGS1138 Shalom brother 🤙🏽💪🏽
Sick! Yea man, 2020 was a great year for waves in Fla, the East side & the panhandle were so good that year! People think Im crazy when I say I wish I could go back to 2020! Keep up the sick work! Are you using SS3?
Thanks for watching, stoked you liked it! Yeah as much as everything sucked that year, at least we had waves! Made things a little easier 😆
That’s Awesome! Semper Paratus! 🏄🏼♂️. I remember when the bozos closed the beach due to Covid. It didn’t last long in Florida. Very were out charging 🏄🏼♂️🤙💪🇺🇸🫡
Thanks! Yeah they "tried" to close the beach, didn't work out so well. 😆 There were some spots that you'd get chased out but ironically the closures weren't enforced at all the best breaking spots! What a time to be alive.
I worked in Dubai on an oil & gas project about 25 years ago and went to that beach for a swim and there were a couple of people surfing, I didn't have a board so I was just body surfing but the water was so warm it was actually uncomfortable. July - August. Waves were good though. I could see the potential. And I get the impression there are good surf spots over on the Fujairah coast which faces into the Gulf of Oman and gets swell from the top of the Arabian Sea .
I can only imagine how hot it would be in middle of summer. I was there in May and that was borderline tolerable. Good to know they still get swell there during the summer though. Some of the expats I spoke with said winter was the best time. Definitely makes you wonder how many other little honey holes there are along the entire gulf.
@@backwaterbrian yes, I saw a youtube video, some crew were exploring the Fujairah coast and it had potential.
🔥🌊
Do you need a license to fish there?
Yes, you need a license. You can get either a day or holiday pass if you are only going to fish for a day or a week. You an purchase at www.cartedepeche.fr
@@backwaterbrian Shore and Coastal Fishing Fishing from the beach or the rocks by the sea (pêche à pied) does not require a permit in France. It does however require the fisher to respect the following: Some fish are subject to fishing restrictions during certain periods or in certain regions Rules regarding minimum size of the fish Amount of fish allowed Knowledge of fishing rules Fish caught may be for personal consumption only - fish may not be sold.
All 4 were italian pike(esox cisalpinus), the guy told you "look, this is an italian pike!" not because it was any different than the others but because he wanted to highlight the fact that italian pike are very feisty and they fight really hard! After the fight he was like "have you seen that? This is how an italian pike fights like!", that's what he meant. Great video by the way, I live 30 minutes away from this lake and it is not that easy to get 'em!
Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching! Yes I was told there were some hybrid northern/italian pike there as well. Super cool experience and you're blessed to live in such a beautiful area. I had some great guides so without them I definitely wouldn't have done so well😆
Some of the worst camera work I've seen.

He’s probably better than you
I wonder if them rich Emerities could be convinced to contour the seabed to create a great surf spot ? Aloha DSC777
I've been saying this for years. Not specifically for the UAE but for the creation of natural waves. Wave pools are great when there is no surf but the potential is untapped for creating new, amazing waves around the world in places that get swell.
cool video love that you put Te Kohanga in the name Kia ora guys , Iv'e caught nice Schnapper there on dusk
Thank you! The locals named it so seemed fitting to honor that. The fishing there was definitely awesome!
Is it free to go?
Its free to surf but you have to pay for parking and board rental if you don’t have your own.
great content nice little Cudas :) an d the dentex too :) - new sub from me
Thanks for watching the video and the sub! I need to watch more of your videos to learn more about fishing on your side of the pond! Looks like you have the seabass on speed dial! 💪🏽
would be great to show how you released this tuna back to the sea
Thought I showed the release but guess not! The fish was de-hooked alongside the boat, and safely released. Never left the water due to its size.🤙🏽
its a lizardfish
Thank you for clarifying. I found that out a few weeks later and also learned that they're very poinsonous. 😑Good thing I didn't get zinged holding it!
@@backwaterbrian can i ask what rod you were using in the video
@@bwbouncer5397 Sure, In most of my videos overseas I'm using a Toadfish Outfitters 7'2" MH Travel Rod (toadfish.com/products/travel-spinning-rods). Took it around the world and caught everything from 2-3lb rainbow and brown trout in the alps to 12lb Kahawai in New Zealand and it worked great.
@@backwaterbrian thank you very much
Lizard fish arent poisonous. You're thinking about spiderfish, aka scapegoat, scorpionfish or pout. Its scientific name is Trachinus Draco.

I'm your fan!!! I'm your admirer!!! I only have one sadness about you, that you throw your fans away like trash, I'm one of them, but still, I'm your fan!!! I have observed your journeys, trajectories and struggles, I reflect a lot on your strength, nothing is easy, but we need to move for things to happen, even with struggles and difficulties, problems, including: this is our motto: struggles and wars daily, that try to stop us from getting where we want, but we are insistent in everything, so that we can get there... of course, clinging to God, regardless of religious belief, this is the only way we can get there, that's it. It's all good!!! I'm your fan!!! May God bless you so much, always including your family!!! Happy Holidays, my friend from far away!!! Please don't throw me away!!! Thanks for the subscription and stoked you like the videos. Looking forward to following your channel as well 🤙🏽
@@backwaterbrian thank you
easy to use triple hooks where it is allowed to use only single hook without counterhook and a maximum of 2 hooks per bait when you go fishing you need to read the regulations and know the rules😡
Easy to understand rules and regulations when you speak the language! 😆 Perhaps you can share some links to these regs in English because I didn’t see that on any blogs/forums I researched. Furthermore, all lures uses were bought from Italian tackle shops who recommended these lures and all fish were released safe and healthy. So relax, two extra ~5mm hooks didn’t decimate the Italian trout population in the area, I promise 😉. Anyway, I appreciate you watching the video! 🤌🏽
Sick !!! It was good. 😊
Thanks! Fun waves for sure
keep it up bro

Hello Brian, have to react to Your video.-) Im from Czech republic. but having my house on the Craotia island by name of Ugljan...its 20minutes by ferry from Zadar... Need to tell You that sea in adriatic is very empty especialy in 1st "canal" (means between coast and first islands) ... finding the fish is very difficult even for local fishermans. If You want to have some good catch, U need to go more far on the sea..(best behind the Dugi Otok and Italy) ..Wish U good luck and keep posting ! Greetings! Radek
Thanks for watching and for your comment Radek. I definitely understand what you mean by the Adriatic bing mostly empty. I had to work really hard to find the fish I did catch and there were a few times when I wouldn't catch anything. Nevertheless your comment made me feel a lot better about myself so thanks for that and for your community's hospitality on my trip! Tight lines!
@@backwaterbrian I dissagree there is no fish around interior islands. I am coming to Croatia for vacation every summer i just bring my dinghy and fishfinder. I do trolling around island of Rab and islands around i am looking for underwater ridges and fish around and it is great if you mark on fishfinder schools of sardines! if i find lots of sardines there is usualy lots of small predators around like horse mackarel ,Atlantic mackarel,Japanese mackarel, needle fish,Dentex, small snapers, I use rubber jig col. silver/black around 3in on hand line for horse mackerel and breams speed around 2-2,5mil Atlantic makerel ,dentex like faster trolling 4+mph and i use Yo zurri crystal minow 7cm color silver /blue or black Somethimes you can see seagulls hiting water that a feeding frenzi you just need to go there and cast poper lure or 25g jig! it is big fun you cast once and most likely you will have hit right on!Big fun but you need to be fast such feeding frienzy last 10-20min Fishing time is best in morning i go in 5 and return around 9 o clock .Averidge catch is around 10 pieces of nice size mackarel 10 in+ Good luck
@@michalzajic8602 I guess I should have clarified that it was hard to find fish while fishing from the shore. Even when I was snorkeling around some of the areas I was fishing, there didn't seem to be a lot of target species. Sure off a dinghy that is much different because you have access to deeper and more remote places with much fish. I would have LOVED to have a kayak or dinghy to explore more water! Have fun and good luck out there!
Cool story! The video shows some really fun surf with several good rides. I enjoyed watching it makes me think of many great days surfing head high waves! Rock on with your videos. Respectfully, Brian

Brian, Great video. What lures were you using?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I was using both beteeen a green Yozuri Pins Minnow and a flat white 4” Keitech swim bait on a 10gram ball jig head. Most hook ups were on the Yozuri but got the grouper and the barracuda on the Keitech. That 3.5-4” inch size seemed to be the sweet spot though.

Keep the plastic and d throw it in the bin!! How can you be so direspectful?!
Not sure what plastic you’re referring to? I’ve always respected the ocean and routinely pick up trash every time I go down there to leave it cleaner than I found it.
@@backwaterbrian WE SEE YOU THROWING THE PIECES OF LURES...
The part of the lure that you see falling is still attached to the line. I put the broken piece in my pocket. I appreciate you watching the video though.
If i go to Hakone for fishing, than i need to take permission or not?
Yes you need a permit. You can get one at the Ashinoko fishing center for about ¥3000 where you can also rent a rowboat (highly recommend).
@@backwaterbrian thanks for this, taking my mom to japan in 3 days and she said the only thing she wanted to do was fish lol. Will be doing this
Sure thing! You will have a lot of fun. Also I found free lining a fly or a live maggot in a spinning reel off a boat to be WAY more productive than lure or bait fishing from shore (as you can see in the video) 😆. Whereas I would throw lures for hours a day and get skunked I routinely saw guys catching huge fish off the back of boats doing what I said🤷🏽♂️ Have fun and good luck!
Hi, great video! Can i ask this fishing center to get the license is at which part of lake ashi? Isit near the togendai pirate ship port or some other part of lake ashi?
Glad you enjoyed the video! The fishing center is on the north east side of the lake between the Togendai pirate ship port and next to a restaurant called Ueno. You can see the boat rental place in Google maps, that’s where it is. Good luck out there!
Looks like they have a shark net there.
Sure hope not! I believe those buoys are there to keep boats from entering the swimming/surfing zone.
@@backwaterbrian - You're probably right. I did a little reading on shark attacks in that area and they are almost nonexistent.
