    Ok so for real, for real, after seeing him using his hand to aid him by pushing the guys hip and did a sweep, my mind was opened once more and I was exploring what I could do with this knowledge. At first I was looking too low and realized that by pushing the leg is already covered by the sweep. So I went up and was looking around the torso area to see where I would shove. But I didn’t pause the video and at 1:30, he showed us another technique but with the torso and I was like, hey I was close. Dang, I love martial arts!

      Hi and thanks for your comment! I suggest you pay close attention to details. When I was starting martial arts I was watching lots of videos on slow motion hundreds of times and then I was applying the techniques in training, sparring and fighting. Videos can be an amazing tool! All the best! 👊

    I have a question then; Edson Barboza has a listed rank on his wiki for a black prajied in Muay Thai, I'm pretty sure I've other fighters with that. Does anyone know about it, is it a coach/team specific thing??

    • @coach_marek
      @coach_marek 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The prajeed is used in Muay Boran and the colors correspond to your Khan level. This is the only real "grading" system used in many gyms. We did that too but using Karate belts or different colors of t-shirts or shorts is specific to a gym and has absolutely no meaning on an international level. Go to Thailand and tell them you are a Muay Thai orange belt, t-shirt or short and wait for the reaction...

      he’s not saying they aren’t skilled, he’s just saying a muay thai black belt isn’t a real thing, there are extremely talented strikers in muay thai that isn’t his point

    • @coach_marek
      @coach_marek 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @koen4261 you didn't get my point. Saying you're a Muay Thai black belt doesn't mean you are not skilled in Muay Thai but it means that you are not educated and informed about it. And actually in my opinion belts do not show your exact skills. They only mean you've trained long enough (and paid enough money) to get the next color. Have you never seen a white belt crush a purple belt in BJJ for example? I did, many times. Cheers!

    • @ModernTruthRevelation
      @ModernTruthRevelation 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-gt7gd9jl8z hey man! I mean, if you are asking for self defense purposes muay thai sweeps are good enough as "grappling", and you will learn good balance and weight distribution and so on. However, it is not really grappling, sweeps (ashi waza, meaning foot techniques) are very narrow part of judo and overall aim and feel is very different. Besides, I must admit, in Judo its generally 80/20 standing/ground so for ground don't rely on your judo sensei only, watch youtube and try on your partners in judo classes :)

      @@ModernTruthRevelation Thank you so much! Yes, I am just trying to learn for self-defense rather than going to cage. I quit BJJ and am now focusing on Muay Thai, and it was because I felt that BJJ has too many techniques that you will hardly use in a real fight situation. Besides, whenever I see BJJ vs Judo sparring, I do not see Judo techniques being any inferior to BJJ on the ground. Just my opinion. Thanks for the advice.
