I believe the channel your thinking about that did the tests was project farm
After a couple months of running the little saw, how is it holding up? Im looking at ordering one just for small jobs and fence row cleaning.
@@blakeslemp6676 it still starts and runs very consistently. No mechanical problems at all. The stock chain is so so, but serves my limited applications. For the money I am well pleased.
Thaks for the good review. I enjoy your very straight forward evaluation. I'm a hobbiest as well and watching your review was like talking to a neighbor.
@@doughoisington6771 wouldn’t the world be better if we chose to be neighborly! Thanks for watching BGB,
I adore my 021.
@@steveeaton2967 it’s still a great saw. I love mine too. BGB
i have a rheinland hatchet from Adler and i love it too death, i use it for car camping/small stuff.
@@Jijhebtmijnnaamnietnodig I was surprised that the Adler was such a dramatic improvement over the run of the mill bargain hatchets. Thanks for watching BGB.
What's up Bald Guy.. I need your expertise. I have this 12" top handle neotec. But I need to replace the spring that's on the left side of bar ,right under the off switch, going through the chain brake. Would you happen to know where I can order that piece from ?
@@kintsugimaybe-tg7pt this is my first Neotec as well. I deal with a seller on EBay, he goes by Neotec Saws. He is out of California and has been pretty helpful for me. The problem with Neotec is they don’t have any local dealers. That being said, it seems that many of their saws are clones of big name brands (Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna). If you can figure out which saw they copied, OEM parts are compatible. The next option would be to check with someone that has a small engine repair shop. If you try messaging the eBay seller, take a picture of the part and include it with your message. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. BGB
I’ve never had a problem killing weeds. I always mix 2 sometimes 3 different brands of ground clear and weed and grass killer. One brand may not have everything it will take to control everything you’re needing to control. I also never follow directions to a T. I mix more chemical than manufacture suggests. Yeah I know they know what they are talking about, but they don’t know my yard and what I have to deal with. From poison ivy, oak or sumac to unwanted wisteria, mimosa trees, invasive Bradford pears, creeping myrtles, unwanted saplings and more. Not to mention moss growing between buildings that have rocks. Weed eating is exhausting and hard on one’s body when rocks are being slung at you from weed eating. Been mixing this way over 6 years. It’s also aggravating when a product claims to kill up to 3 to 6 continuous months. Again manufactures aren’t in yards all day every day. What works for them may not work for someone else.
@@sherrylantrip9328 I understand completely! Thanks for watching BGB!
Awesome tool! I love it. Also, it is pronounced "Skid-jer" like the "dg" in judge.
Great technique ! Thanx for sharing !
Thanks for watching an old fat bald guy learning new tricks! BGB
Nice video, thanks for posting. One thing to note about different axe/wood-cutting tool companies is the type of trees in the country that they're from. So for example Gransbruk & Hultafors are Swedish and the majority of forests in Scandinavia have a different tree-species mix than you might find further south in Europe such as in Germany, Austria, France etc. Old-school traditional axe-making companies made their axes to suit local/regional conditions. So whilst people might rave about Granfors axes, the trees in your local area might be better tackled with a slightly different axe such as by Adler or Rinaldi etc.
@@citizenwolf8720 well said! I totally agree. I have different tools that fit specific kinds of wood/trees, and even different chainsaws for different trees. Considering that this I my first premium axe, I’m well pleased with its level of performance. I also had a Council Tools axe head rehandled this week, and am looking forward to playing with it in the coming days. Thanks for watching BGB!

I have to agree. I have bigger and newer saws, but every time I pull out the 012 I am pleased by the feel and performance. Thanks for watching BGB!
My dad bought this saw brand new in 2011. We dont use it much, only about 60 to 80 hours yearly but since 2011 we havent had a single fault or failure with it. Everything is extremely sturdy, only problem with it is when it sits for a while the oil leaks out of it but when you drain the oil it isnt too bad. Really good saw, very beginner friendly i would say

Do you have any views on the new 212 c-be stihl? Can’t find much info on it yet - as it is newer I believe
I have no experience with the 212, but it appears to be a tweak of the 211’s design. I read that some of the 211s had issues leaking oil and some were poorly adjusted in terms of carbonation, but I haven’t experienced any trouble with mine. I was cutting a downed hickory with mine a few days ago and did a fair bit of work above shoulder height, and I was reminded just how handy these lighter weight saws are! Thanks for watching.
Looks like a handy tool. I use something similar called a Hula Hoe.
I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed! Thanks for watching BGB
This works so much better than the hula hoe I have used for so many years. The Skidger can go under the fence line, my drop lines and not damage them, etc. I use this for SO many things now. Dandelions out from the middle of the grass without damaging the grass. Thistles are taken out in short order. Thanks, Skidger!
@@wayneanderson2628 The Skidger looks more substantial than the hula hoe
We had the 025 at home, but now I saw this one on bazar for just 150€. Well I'm probably going for it!
I was cutting a hickory tree this week, and the 021 was still the main saw I used. At my age I appreciate the lighter weight when cutting limbs that were above shoulder height. Thanks for watching BGB
I love mccullochs, own 2 PM 310s and a Euromac S41, i am painfully hipster so i really didin't care for stihl because it is so popular, that was until recently. I got a fire damaged -94 021 (same year as the S41) and i must say the build quality is remarkable, the plastics felt really nice, the throttle lock/choke is really nice, the ergonomics are great, and best of all, it starts easily runs well despite being burnt so badly that the chain oil tank has a hole in it. Now maybe it is because my Macs spent a decade being abandoned in such conditions where the cylinders seized but atleast this Stihl saw is also lovely to work on and repair
Back in the day I had an Echo and a HomeLite… but once I went with a Stihl nothing else compares (for me). Thanks for watching BGB
I bought the Matrix kit a few weeks ago for $180 because I was trying to replace the blades on my riding mower and couldn't get either of the nuts off. I never used an impact driver before, but I knew I needed one to get the job done. I have a 3 year old $49 B&D drill that's way underpowered for anything beyond the basics, but it uses the same 20V batteries, so I was incentivized to stay in the B&D ecosystem and came across this. As a fairly new homeowner collecting an arsenal of tools, I think getting 6 tools in one with the modularity to add more tools for cheap, plus gaining an extra battery for both drills, is a pretty good deal for the price. When I tried the impact driver on the blades, at first I thought something was wrong because I expected to feel some kickback in the drill and holding the blade with my hand. It felt almost identical to my other drill with the clutch at 1. Once I gave it a few more seconds, they each started to come loose. I'm very impressed, though that's more with respect to impact drivers in general than this particular model. I've yet to find a use for the other tools, but I know I will sooner or later as I come up with projects.
I’m on the same page with you. It may not have industrial power, but it does what I need it to do. Thanks for watching BGB.
Nice video - I had to do this last week on my BSA and my HW97 (Think you US fellas call 'em Beemans?)
Thanks for watching BGB!
Good video - I need to do something similar to my BSA airrifle beech stock. I was concerned about whether I needed to sand it down first (don't want to do that) . Thankyou
As long as there are no broken fibers in the wood, this method is pretty effective...it just takes time. Thanks for watching BGB!
I just realized that I did not respond to your question about sanding the stock down. Under normal circumstances, I would say no. I got a number of dents out of the stock that I used in the video without sanding it. The heat did not cause any discoloration or damage to the finish and I was very pleased. However, the rifle had some broken fires as I mentioned so I did ultimately send it down, but it is not necessary for a simple dent.

don't scrub off the blueing with that steel wool. I hear using copper steel wool will protect the blueing.
The 0000 steel wool doesn't seem to remove any blueing at all. Applying the oil really makes a difference. Thanks for watching BGB!
Use it all the time. Best ever.
I learned about it about a year ago, and am loving it. Thanks for watching BGB!
I also use 2 at a time. I load on a trailer with the mesh ramp down so I can walk the pieces right onto the trailer 2 pieces at a time so I can get loaded twice as fast while keeping the center of gravity low around ankle height and never having to bend over. Great video!

Thanks for the content... wonder why they made that mobile one 650w and the table combo unit belt/spindle 450w lol ... is triton better than wen inyho??
I can't comment on the Triton as I have no experience with that model. I bought the WEN mainly on the basis of its pricepoint...and the fact that I would only use it occasionally...I wasn't looking for a heavy duty product. Thanks for watching! BGB

Hell I own this same Stihl 211 cut down 2 48year old pine trees that were a little over 50 feet tall and little over 30 inch girth trunks at the bottom all I can say about Stihl chain saws is there a hell of product worth every dam penny
I agree totally! Thanks for watching. BGB
I've never owned a pickaroon. I'm 43 and have been cutting wood as long as I can remember. Explain to me why I need to suddenly purchase 2 of these because you say so.
My reasons are pretty simple: with a pickaroon, I don't have to bend over so I save my back, and at 59 years of age it saves me a lot of arthritic pain. I can load more wood without fatigue, and I can load the wood much faster. I realize that a younger man may not have the same issues I deal with, but the review is offered to help people consider other options. Like you, I cut wood for years and never heard of the thing. Once I heard, I tried. Once I tried, I liked. Since I liked, I offered a review. Thanks for watching. BGB
@@baldguybasics7584 fair answer. I will now get one and try it out
I think the powder version might be better because you can easily level it and feather the edges with a paintbrush. But let's be real, I'm no cement expert either.
Just as long as we fill the crack! Thanks for watching! BGB
I own this saw. This is the Saw you use to limb the tree that you cut down with a BIGGER CHAINSAW. It's good for cutting 4" limbs
I use this for a lot of the smaller stuff, but I have always been surprised and pleased to see just how big of a tree it can handle, especially when you have a good sharp chain on the saw. Thanks for watching! BG
Its great on 8/10 inch stuff too it doesnt weigh shit ant with a shorter bar setup 30/35 cm it cuts pretty quick
Good review ! I couldn't imagine making firewood without my pickaroons(both short&long handle). It's a great backsaver, wish i found it 20 years ago... Thanx for sharing !
I had never used one...or even been aware of them until about a year ago. Now I don't want to ever go to the woods without one again! Thanks for wathcing! BGB
Just found your channel and subscribed. Nice work. I can do with one.
Welcome to the channel, and thanks for watching!
Yes! It's unfortunate, should have learned about these 44 years ago....made mine out of axe, flat beak on bottom, shaped up like birds beak, works great on all woods
My back wishes that I had known about these a lot sooner too! Thanks for watching! BGB
I picked up a tack hammer at a yard sale many years ago. It is handy to have in the tool collection, even if I only use it a few times a year.
I totaly agree! I'm not sure why they don't have a greater appeal...perhaps its just a matter of a smaller number of applications, but I love having mine in the toolbox. Thanks for watching! BGB
@baldguybasics7584 Thanks for reminding me of these. I will buy one in the near future. I have pneumatic nailers, but the tack hammer still has uses that make it more practical.
@@LongGun223 Thanks for watching! BGB
I’m 70 and I have one my dad bought me, still works great. Do they still make these?
I can't find if anyone is making them...but I would suspect that there is a copy being made somewhere in China or Tiawan. They are surprisingly useful, especially when you don't have a powered unit handy. Thanks for watching! BGB
