I made a mistake in the previous video where we exported the solid mesh. Calculix needs NODE groups to assign the boundary conditions. So we need to create three NODE Groups for inlet, outlet, and interface before we export the mesh. If you followed the previous video, then all you need to do is make the changes in this video and re-export the UNV file.

    @TorstenSchenkel2110 Thanks for the informative reply. I’m also trying to install swak4Foam on OpenFOAM v2312 in a cluster environment and followed the process with hg update development. However, I’m facing errors during compilation, specifically related to clock skew and parser library issues. Do you have any advice for troubleshooting in a cluster setup? I’ve tried syncing the system clock and loading different dependencies, but still hitting roadblocks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Hello, I haven't tried 2312 yet. So it may just be too new for swak4Foam. Does it work with 2306?

    I am having trouble about installing paraview: all things go fluently without any error or warning during installation, but when I type in paraview in command line and enter, it returns that: QStandardPaths: wrong permissions on runtime directory /run/user/1000/, 0755 instead of 0700 : CommandLine Error: Option 'simd-mode' registered more than once! LLVM ERROR: inconsistency in registered CommandLine options I am using WSL 2 Ubuntu-22.04. How can I fix this error?

    Dear Professor, When running the two solvers in two different terminals, I get the following error on the fluid case's terminal: ---[precice] ERROR: Receive using sockets failed with system error: read: End of file And solid case's terminal says: ---[precice] Slaves are connected Killed Help needed here, please. I have done all the steps before this phase, as mentioned in the series.

    You setup for the mesh of solidShell.inp and later work with tube.inp. Why is that ?? Please explain, Professor.

      Those are two different things (with the same ending and file type). The first is just the mesh, which gets pre-processed in GCX, the second is the input deck for calculix - which reads the output of the pre-processing we did in GCX.

    Hello sir. I am not one your student but i find the tutorial interesting. However there is something that I don't understand : at the end of the second video, when you export for the first time, we have two entities (pipe and solidshell) but in this third video, there is a third entity called interface.stl_1 that you never mentionned before. Moreover you exported the fluid mesh as pipe.unv and in the 4th video it is named Fluid.unv, and when I use ideastofoam and checkMesh, my mesh is twice smaller as yours. My theory is that (pipe.unv + interface.stl_1)=Fluid.unv. With this problem, when i try to run the simulation the divergence appears way too early and results are not usable. Could you please help me understand what you did with interface.stl_1, and if you think i am missing something else please tell me Anyway thank you for your job

    Hi Torsten, Thanks for such a good tutorial. Well, I am encountering an issue at 16:15 sec as I could not find cxx_precice file in the folder (e.g CalculiX/calculix-adapter-master/bin). This folder includes just one file named ccx_2.20. In addition, as I go for cd .local/bin, I encountered the error at 17:20 sec (cd: no such file or directory: .local/bin). Can you please figure out these errors?

      Hello, my second error has been fixed, however, first error is still there. But, I can see cxx_preCICE file in the terminal. After this, I run the simulation and encountered the error "ccx_preCICE: /opt/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-v2012/ThirdParty/platforms/linux64/gcc-6.3.0/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.26' not found (required by ccx_preCICE)".

    Is it necessary to add Julia to path If not, why did you add it

      Depends on how your system is set up. So it's safe to add it. If your system finds Julia without setting the path, then you are fine without it. I don't use Windows, so can't really help with any Windows related setup. This is just to help my students and colleagues who are still on the dark side of computing ;-)

      Can't really check at the moment. Please note that this case will break after the reflected wave comes back. So it will break at some point after 8ms.

      Hi, just had a quick look at the files you sent. Your material properties (Calculix) and the pressure boundary conditions (OpenFOAM) are a mix of the tutorial case and this one. There may be other things different to the case I ran. Check your case again and make sure that the BCs and material properties match up.

    thanks for your instructive video, I don't know why the swak4Foam cannot compile with the OpenFoam2112(patch=OpenFoam2206) in my Ubuntu20. i just knew the version requirement is restricted between them. could u tell me how the swak4Foam compile with the OpenFoam2112(patch=OpenFoam2206)? why it could compile with your OpenFoam2106 just few installation steps? Thanks so much.

      Sometimes you need to use the developer version of swak4foam with newer versions of OF. Check the link in the video notes, and do: hg update development after you downloaded swak4foam using mercurial. I have it running on OF 2206, on a Ubuntu 22.04 installation without any problems. Don't know about OF2112(patch 2206).

    Hi Were you able to adjust boundary conditions to stop the case from diverging? Mine diverges at exactly 0.0101 second

      That's 10.1 ms. It will diverge when the reflected wave comes in. That's why the original benchmark only goes to 8ms.

If I copy just the inp file to a solid-Calculix folder will that do? Or do I need other mesh files because I do not see them generate with freeCAD. I am running freeCAD on windows and want to run cases on a cluster Would appreciate your help!

      I have only used FreeCAD once, so am not really an expert on it. But it does write an .inp file, so should be able to use that. When you look at some of my other videos, you'll see that I create the mesh and then use calculix-cgx to write out new .msh, and .nam files. I do that to control what elements I have in the final case, and to make the input deck simpler (I import the mesh files at the beginning to keep the inp file human readable. But that's not needed, just makes it easier for me to see what is what. So my workflow is: Salome Mesh -> UNV file -> convert to inp with unical3 -> use cgx to clean mesh -> inport msh and nam files in the standardised input deck (inp file) But there should not be a problem with using FreeCAD - I need to look into that for next teaching year, since it may be easier to use for my students.

    When redirecting the output to log files, you may want to add a 2>&1 at the end of the line (before the &) to also get any error messages in the same log (> only redirects the info stream, leaving the error stream on the screen). Instead of redirecting, you can also use "| tee example.log" to get output both on your screen and the log file (probably irrelevant for the cluster).

      True. But in this case that's not required, since the scheduler redirects the errors into a separate file (defined at the top of the run script). Technically you don't need the redirect at all, since the scheduler redirects both, but I like a numbered output, which is why I do it manually.
