Fasting under the old Wineskin (old covenant) was done in mourning as Jesus mentioned in Matthew 9 v 14 - 17. We no longer are in mourning because we have the Bridegroom (Jesus) living in us. I still fast, but not according to the old system and law. I don't fast to get something from God as already possess all things in my spirit. My spirit is wall-to-wall Jesus as He is.
