I guess I'd call myself an Orbit fan. Very nice mix! Very nice quality! Thanks. EXTREMELY glad I gave it a listen! 🎶🎶😉😉
WOWO WOWO
Any reason why you can't find this version on Spotify , or a first generation iteration of the video without the glitching? (Still grateful for this, otherwise we would have nothing!! This was the original single/radio edit. Strangely, there are a number of remix versions on Spotify, but not this one?! This is a classic.
Nice, i had the privilege to do quite a bit of live acts, unfortunately not William Orbit, only Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, etc :) Those cracks are probably from crash cymbal hitting mic stand.
That guitar solo dropping in at the end, unexpected like ninja. So damn good!
Orbit's music will take you to a place you never knew, but needed to be.
Beth’s chanteuse drone voice is incredible. Like Nico in “All Tomorrow’s Parties.” Orton decimates this song. She creates the atmosphere that encompasses the repetition in lyrics. It’s so damn good. Like epically good. Kudos to Orbit for creating just the right circumstances for excellence. As he has always done. Great musicians, great consistency, incredibly good cohesion of sound. Especially for 1995. It’s almost difficult to imagine this was 30 years ago next year. 🤯🤯🍄🟫🍄🟫 To have been at this show…. Wonder if there are other video archive performances of WFAVL that exist with Beth singing. She’s just so damn good. Bravo. Legend. 5:19
Imagine being there for this?? There were maybe 400? 500? people for this experience? This is now 29 years ago. What a great time to be alive for music. Orton is legend. Her interaction with Orbit is legendary. So epic.
The best version.
AMBIENT music LIVE with the young Beth Orton on the mic! LEGENDARY! 🔥
Just so lovely ❤
Please tell us where this was performed!! Absolute masterpiece...no one left anything on the?? that nite. Im so blessed my children take the time to appreciate the genius Willy &all the talent he encompasses&may i say 'nurtures'. We all know exactly where we were when this song played.... climbing the coastal pass(hwy 26) from home to meet Badens daddy, Motshwari Obopile@#12 in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. Turn our children/loved ones/perfect strangers onto the magic that is music folks!!
all wized up and ready for action
Hate that I can only hit LIKE but once....
Who were the backing band musicians? Really top notch players!
Only 78 People?? I have this disc from the 1995 release!
Orbit clearly consumed 'all the chemicals' and unlocked a super power
Beau 😊
William knows what's he's doing
William Orbit is obviously a genius…
Amazing version of an amazing song. Gives me flashbacks from all the acid I took in the 90s
Probably one of the best cover versions ever made (the original was released in 1970 by Jack Nitzsche on the soundtrack of the motion picture "Performance").
does anyone know where I can find this song? the version on iTunes is not this 😞
It's only on the Beth Orton's first album "Superpinkymandy".... which was only released in Japan. Ridiculous and unfortunate.
I cannot watch this enough! So brilliant to see this live! I must go now as I'm going to watch it again! 😄😄
I hope we don't have to wait until William Orbit's dead before he gets the accolades he deserves. He is a true genius, and a criminally unknown one at that. he prodiuced Madonna's only masterpiece, and then suffered from severe depression. So sad, but he's doing much better
Blown away 🎉
Absolutely wonderful, love it 😍😍😍
Is there someone out there that can post the lyrics of this amazing song? I'm italian, I can't understand all the words... thank you.
Beautiful live version of one of my favorite songs ever!
Same, this song changed my life
People! People ! TONE LOC speaking! ❤️💙🤍☝️
magic
And it is app soul lutely Time To Get Wise its now or never ,,love strange Cargo and William Orbit best producer musician there ever was.
The track itself strikes me as being about lovemaking. Is my intuition correct?
I remember buying the 12" of this with the extended S + M mix and a great remix of Attack of the 50ft drum demon. The stuff on the Science & Melody album definately was more pop orientated than the debut album but still so many sound layers in here, love all the samples and moody keys
i am born 1987. i die in peace because i was able to hear this song.i want nothing more.
William Orbit was strongest when he was solo. Forget “Ray of Light”, “Strange Cargo III” and “Pieces of a Modern Style” are his crowning achievements.
Yes agreed. Ray or light though - is a masterpiece in my view.
Haven’t heard or seen this in years. MTV Dance Chilled always had the greatest music videos in the mornings, particularly Saturday and Sunday after clubbing. My first introductions to Warp and Ninja Tune were thanks to that great channel.
Brilliant 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
2nd of November.. 4.09 min... Dirty den granchos
To me the thing about William Orbits tracks is that he has so many trademark sounds and instruments. Makes me feel at home right away.
I love this track. Some parts are very similar to his track Water from a vine leaf, and that is not a bad thing. Also it is very close to tracks he made during the Torch Song days
I don't hate it and I am a big fan of both William Orbit and Beth Orton. However... in this performance Beth Orton is in some parts of the song singing slightly out of tune. I am only mentioning this because I experience real physical pain in my head and guts listening to someone not hitting the perfect note ( I hate that about myself but I can't help it ) That is the reason I never go to live performances. If someone can relate please enlighten me about why I get that experience.
I was in the second row just right of centre stage for this, what a day 👏 🙌
Is that right man cool stuff wish I was there
@JM12Green yeah shame there's not more of it available on TH-cam, perfect summers evening on the bank of the Thames, best of times.
Really cool to see such a talented electronic artist perform these songs live
What is the connection between W. Orbit, and Massive Attack?
top tune
