Beata Sebastianus it all depends honestly on a few factors. I wouldn’t want to recommend this school to everyone and tell them it’s perfect. One reason is if you’re okay with using the shuttle to the 3 campuses depending on where you schedule your classes at. Second reason is how much it costs and if you can afford it. That’s all I have in mind right now, I hope this helps!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes, you do meet a lot of people here. There are many international students, one of my fave part about attending HPU. You meet so many cool people, but meeting people just depends on you. I did see a few students who weren't the social type. Your first year, you can dorm at either Aloha Tower or the dorms in Hawaii Loa. However, your years after that you don't have the option to dorm at Hawaii Loa because they are only for the freshman class. So you either dorm at Aloha Tower or get a place off campus. If you have a bunch of family in Hawaii, then that is even better. Maybe you don't have to dorm? HPU doesn't allow crazy parties, specially because quite hours (meaning no loud noises) starts around midnight during the weekends and I think 10pm during weekdays, they will put up fliers with info about that. If you are looking for parties, there are college parties off campus that you probably will get invited to. Most likely you'll meet someone with a car and carpool with them. For me, I like HPU. Maybe because I'm getting used to the way things work here, but my freshman year wasn't so bad. Just beware of drama. You need to remember that freshman college students are fresh off from high school so students still act the way they did a year before. :) Hope that helped!

+Justine Santos I'd say it gets boring after you've tried all the hikes and went to all the beaches. You do run out of things to do within about 5 years I'd say. It depends how active you are. There are about 7+ common hikes and about 10+ common beaches that most people go to. You can go to these local events when you chill with friends. There's horse back riding, parasailing, and more. I've been living on this island for 11 years now, activities are not as huge as the ones in CA, but the things you do here are family and friends related activities. Most of the activities are outdoors too.

+Virginia Hudson I'm actually from Hawaii, but I've met so many who don't have family here. They're doing fine especially because there are helpful counselors here who understands you. Most of the students here are people from other states. It's fun to meet someone who has lived a different lifestyle as you. So if you don't know anyone, it'll be fine because there are other students who are going through the same things and so you'll most likely get to be friends with them

+Nikki Ann I did actually. It's in my University Hawaii Pacific playlist :) But I just have the Hawaii Loa dorms. I can't get in to the Downtown dorms since I don't live there

Downtown has more nightlife and it is closer to the restaurants, but it does cost a little higher than Hawaii Loa. If you are going to be eating at restaurants for most of your daily meals, it might get pricey. Both campuses have classes close to them. It just depends on what location you choose when scheduling your classes. The pay here ranges from $7.50 to $9.

+Sabrina Ayles I think it's a great school. Nothing is too complicated to do here. There are staffs on campus who can help you out with whatever it is you need help with. Tutoring is free and convenient or if you just need somebody to read and correct your essay, you can go to LB building which is located near the downtown library. There are three campuses, so an advise is that I would try to schedule most of your classes in one or two campuses so that you don't have to walk too far or take the shuttle all the time. Are you planning to dorm at the Aloha Tower or Hawaii Loa? Aloha Tower: -Costs a little more -In the process of creating a kitchenette -Close to downtown where the food restaurants are -Modern looking rooms -Closer to Waikiki Hawaii Loa (where I'm staying): -Costs less -No kitchenette, but there's a cafeteria. What I like about the cafeteria is that you don't have to wash your own dishes lol. I think they serve better food than Aloha Tower though -Activities: Halls compete to for points. Who ever has the most points by the end of the school year, they get to have a hall party. Also have karaoke nights when it gets close to Christmas Pumpkin carving contest -During finals week, they like to feed you with smoothies, pies, and more after dinner time. You just head over to the cafeteria. -If you want to hike, Hawaii Loa is close to most of the hikes you can go on. These are all I can think of for now, but I hope you find this helpful :)

+DeborahFuentes I plan to go to the Hawaii loa dorms... But I plan to study to get my marine biology degree so idk would my classes be in multiple campuses... I don't mind a walk or shuttle if they are. The biggest question I guess I have for you is that are you in huge amounts of debt. I've applied to scholarships but I haven't heard back I'm scared that I will be really broke.

+Sabrina Ayles You're going to be taking some science classes and most of the classes are at Hawaii Loa. So you can just walk there. The other classes like english, math, and other requisites will be in downtown or aloha tower. So you may be taking the shuttle. Just make sure you schedule your classes with enough time to take the shuttle. The shuttle comes in every 20 mins. So I would try to get approximately an hour gap between the class from hawaii loa to downtown. It's normal to have the 7,500 loan from the gov. you'll pay back after graduation. The rest is up to your scholarship and your parents. The school offers parent plus loans. So if they are willing to help you out, you can fill that out on your financial aid.

+Sabrina Ayles oh and also if you filled out your FAFSA which is due in March, you can get some money from the gov. I received $5,500 which helped me a lot.

+Jaime Gutierrez The only cons I can think of tbh is that it is a little expensive, but then again, it is a private school. The good thing about private schools is that their scholarships are about at least 1/3 of the tuition and more than 50% of the students get scholarships. My total cost is $30,000 and I have a $10,000 scholarship.

Yea I think it's a well-rounded school. HPU offers undergraduate degrees in more than 50 areas. Yes, freshmen & other upper classes can stay at the Aloha Tower. Hawaii Loa campus is where only freshmen can stay :)

Well I like the view when heading to classes. It's very nice. The dorms in Hawaii Loa are not that bad. From what I hear from students who live in the Aloha Tower dorms, Hawaii Loa campus has better dinning food than Aloha Tower's dinning food.
