Steel Double Taps [19.June.24]
As the video starts off, I explain that I just added a Herrington Arms compensator to my SIG P320 RXP XCompact. I am still getting use to it but needed to see if my 24 yard Steel Double Taps improved any. I forgot that I normally shoot 9 rounds of this so going forward every drill will be 10 rounds.

This is my 7th Falling Steel match and there was regression best on my last time participating. My first stage (stage 5) was super slow mainly because I had the wrong reticle selected in the Holosun. I fixed that by Stage 6 but still did not perform consistenly for the remaining 5 stages. Stick around to the end to see all four events score comparison. More range practice, but I think I figured out a better grip. I am trying to increase my speed and accuracy with double taps/controlled pairs. I hope to transfer whatever my improvements are from this exercise to lower IDPA times and scores. Bare in mind this is at 24 yards, not the standard 5-10 yards that everyone shots at sub 2 seconds.

More range practice, this time with steel. I am trying to increase my speed and accuracy with double taps/controlled pairs. I adjusted my grip for this session and it appears to have fooled the Mantis into believing I no longer shoot low left. I hope to transfer whatever my improvements are from this exercise to lower IDPA times and scores.

I haven't work on my pistol skills in a while. I have been so focused on learning the rifle for my June Boar hunt and then switched to Shotgun so I can get better at trap and learn 5 Stand. But I am a firm believer that if you own a pistol and plan to carry (or already do), you need to stay brushed up. So here I go again, hopefully able to pickup where I left off.

@activelivingyoutube2611 Hey dude, 1 day at a time. Ain't heard from you in a minute. I still keep in touch with NF! He's doing well 👍🏾. Miss y'all man!
@@markie30ab That's the way we are all marching... One day, one step at time. Much love to you and your family. I don't have a lot of social media connections, but I do get notifications about NF facebook posts.
Awesome ✊🏿
🤦♂️
Did your have any problems after clamping the mid pipe im starting to get a ticking noise when accelerating after i deleted my cat . Think i have a slight exhaust leak also can that cause a ticking noise when riding . Trying to get the mid pipe welded but hard to find someone that welds motorcycle exhaust
Did you get an ecu flash or power commander? It needs to be tuned
This dude wasnt smart at all. 1 calling the (fairings) flairings. Its not a fuckn flair gun 2 layed the bike on the ground. No cage no sliders like wth? 3 even tho its pretty str8 forward, he didnt even show him cutting the pipe. This dude put the camara on the other side of the damn bike like he had a 4D cam or sum. when thats the damn point of the video.
I carry the 411, cross-draw. Nice to have accuracy & great power. 9mm is for little girls...
I have the Apollo max on a .308 Tikka rifle and absolutely love it. I have a few breaks and I can say this is the most effective break I have. Damn good video and a very nice rifle as well.
Awesome presentation, but boy am I confused. What is that thing attached to the end of your rifle? Is that Satan speaking from the phone? What do those numbers mean? I'm looking at a cross STX. I really don't know why I would choose the .308 over the Creedmore and vice versa. Is there a reason you chose the Creedmore round over the .308?
I like saying Creedmore. No real reason other than that. I do plan on getting a .308 at some point. At the end of the rifle is the Solo Camera. The numbers are from the MantisX which measures my trigger discipline through the setup and trigger pull. Awesome device especially when used in my pistol.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 I am super jealous of your setup. Thank you for sharing this information!
With a hot barrel you aren't going to get any usable data. The way you are set up in not surprised with the bad results however, that gun should spot for the price they are asking for it.
I've got the same exact setup! I love this gun. Paired it with my rugged alaskan 360 suppressor.
I keep toying with the idea of getting a suppressor but I would want to assign it to a trust to avoid passing it on to my kids (among other reasons)
@activelivingyoutube2611 yes I got a single shot trust from silencer shop for this exact reason
Fix you shooting set up first before checking for accuracy, you’re introducing too much shooter variance into the equation. 1. If you want to shoot off tripod, lower it and make sure it’s very stable - otherwise use a proper and preferably adjustable rest , 2. Get a good rear bag, 3. Practice proper breathing and trigger squeeze and then try to group. I only watched the first couple of minutes of the video but I know there’s no way you could get optimized accuracy regardless of how gifted shooter you may be. Thanks for posting.
bro...sweet set up!!
Sounds bad ass 💪🏻
fourth and fifth shot was terrible. (8:35-9:11)
All 99 even though the shot was four inches wide?(8:01)
Great video no awesome video! Thank you
Awesome video thank you for sharing
I like your whole setup. Good video.
I’m planning on putting an Apollo Max on my Sig M400 Tread. Just curious did you need the 90° adapter to install on the cross? And if so did it give you any trouble installing?
For a gun that cost 1599, I’d required sub MOA for factory loads. This is 3+MOA wow I can’t pull trigger on this one
Don’t blame the gun for not shooting sub MOA. It could be mem😅. Also these aren’t factory loads. I show the recipe in the opening scroll.
The way he has the stock floating in the air it's probably mostly shooter error
If had hit the black on the first shot, the red would be the next shot. Dang.
So many professional critics here.
Man this is an amazing setup!!!!
Thanks. Of course, as an engineer minded tinker guy, it has changed. I'll have to post a new video to catch everyone up.
Sweet rifle!
Nice video. How controllable is it with that brake on it?
The funny thing is, I would argue that it doesn't much matter given that I wouldn't really be doing a follow-up shot. That being said, and my theory never being tested, I can keep the scope about 2" in either direction on target after firing. So if a follow-up shot is needed, a quick adjustment, fast reload, should have me on point.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 thanks good point
Hey great video! I have the same setup down to the scope bipod and muzzle break. The problem is I need help setting it up properly. Can you help?
I can try... what kind of trouble are you having?
Station 4 had your name all on it 👍🏽
Love the camera angle
Not by choice. I use to have it aimed only at me and then I move it as I transition stations. But that requires everyone to stop what they are doing, ensure their guns are aimed in a safe direction (ie away from me) and wait as I relocate everything. The RSO is no longer willing to slow down the pace, so I HAD to find a single location that saw everything. Which now puts the camera in harms way 😟
Awesome shooting
Thanks, I did ok. Still learning this particular shooting disciplie. Appreciate the kind words. 🙂
🙃 "Promo SM"
That was awesome. Great work 👏 👍🏽
Not Bad at all!! Way to Go!
Appreciate that. Thanks
Hey man, I'm the guy that bought the GSXR750 FTECU from you. It's cool to see that you actually own a Sig Cross, which I've been looking into for quite some time now, particularly in 308. I think this is perfect for a deer setup.
It’s actually my first bolt action gun. I love shooting it. I will say that though I love the camo cerakote…. It’s not durable. You’ve been warned. 😅
@activelivingyoutube2611 Oh I believe it lol. I might just go with the Tikka. I used to have a Howa Bravo in 308. I'm thinking about getting the Tikka Super Varmint in 308 again (or even 6.5PRC) since I still have all the reloading equipment for the 308. I think you'll definitely love reloading now that you have a bolt gun. You'll definitely get in to sub-MOA all day with reloads once you find your Cross's seating spec.
What state? 100 yr range very hard to find in Va
I would think southern VA would have lots of open field to dedicate to 200+ yd ranges. I am in MD and soon (cross my fingers), a range near Westminster is promising to open up their 300,400, 500 yard ranges.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 thanks im orignal from Maryland, eastern shore side. But i have family in Bowie.
Besides your personal goal, is your end goal eventually to hunt or compete?
Hmmm…. My goal is simply to improve. If I go hunting great, if I end up competing even better. But I have to know my gun at varying distances in changing environmental influences.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 I am in the same boat. Lol. That's why I started checking checking the channel. I notice the adjustments you have made as well. Great job! I need more practice time to catch up.
@@edramsey7310 That is the key... be willing to make changes and practice, practice, practice. Thanks for the kind post.
Love love, love your videos I don’t know why you don’t have more views and subscribers. Just found you by the way can I ask what power scope do you use?
What is the full length of your Cross with the applo max attached? Folded & unfolded. Im trying find a case that'll fit with the muzzle break on. TIA, happy shooting! 🤙
I’ll have to measure it the next time I take it out. But I can say, I have a 42-44” case and I have to fold the stock to get it to fit.
I stand corrected. If I collapse my butt pad it measures 39.5" and it DOES fit in my 42-44" case no problem.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
How do you like that muzzle brake? Is there a noticeable difference in sound & recoil without it on?
Recoil was never really the problem, in a way. I needed the front end to stay down so I could see where the bullet was hitting. It does that very well. But the sound has been magnified by like 3 and the gas disturbs anything on the bench that isn't nailed down.
Sound, yes... It is WAAAAY louder. Be cautious shooting it in doors. As for recoil, I can't say how much it does/does not help. I normally take one shot and then observe where I hit the target. No need to do quick follow-ups so if the muzzle rises or shifts left or right it still never leaves the general area of the target.
Been looking and saving to get one in 308 for my Christmas present
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 I need a range to stretch my cross out these 100yrd ranges not cutting it
IKR. I have my eye on another range relatively close to me that’s working on their 300 and 400 yard range. If they aren’t done by November, I’ll make the 2.5 hour drive to Delmarva, pay $40 for one day, and use their 500 yd range. I just gotta keep stretching my Sig X.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 ya I'm ova in SW pa I'ma have to drive a few hours to find 200+ yards

What kind of choke r u using?
I have several and I probably stuck with one that produced the tightest pattern given that I was using such a short barrel
@@activelivingyoutube2611 thanks for the reply. I took my vr80 with a friend to shoot trap using the full choke. I couldn’t hit anything. Was my first time tho. I was gonna try a modified next. I plan to buy a trap gun soon.
@@SullyMac83 Buying a 12 gauge with a longer barrel is always a good idea for Trap or Skeet. I have a 28” Semi-Auto that I bought back in 1998. But fast forward to 2018 I just thought the VR80 was cool to own. I still ended up buying an over-and-under specifically for shooting Trap and Skeet.
@@activelivingyoutube2611 the vr80 is a cool gun for sure, had no idea I would try trap with it. lol
Likin' that Sig Sauer Cross rifle.. appears to be one anywho. Though, he does have the offset scope mount on backwards. 😏 Still looks like a good time!
What range do you go to?
I go to AGC when shooting outdoors. I use Guntry for my indoor pistol drills
NIce shooting! I went to my 1st AGC falling steel last year after watching one of your videos. Very different shooting on the clock.
Thanks for the compliment. I had the clock conversation with the guy next to me in this video. Competition shooting is one sure fire way to prove that “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”.

Disc golf at Calvert, shoot in MD and ride at Summit Point. Thought i was the only one. Big up.
