I think it really depends on which area you want to go into within consulting. I’m in the healthcare space, but even within healthcare, there’s so many different focus areas. For my company, even though we are healthcare focused, they didn’t require prior healthcare experience or certifications as a new grad (although I had a related background). What mattered most to them when I applied were my grades, communication skills (during interviews), and how well I performed in the case studies. It also depends on if you’re a new grad or a mid-career hire. If former, what recruiters would look at most is your academic achievements (and grades), extracurriculars, and of course, how you perform in the interview / case studies. If you’re a mid-career hire, they may look more at your prior work experience and its relevance to the position you’re applying for. I wouldn’t say you need a certification or an internship necessarily, but I would recommend doing some preparation for the interviews and case studies. I would also reach out to some people through LinkedIn and connect with juniors within that consulting firm to see if you would be a good cultural fit - every company is different and it’s important to understand what the working culture is like at the company to see if you would be a good fit. Hey Lucca! Thanks for your comment :) Not sure what type of materials you’re interested in, but if you’re trying to learn more about consulting & what consultants do, I would recommend reaching out to people working at different consulting firms (e.g., through LinkedIn) and understanding what they do on a day-to-day since consulting is such a broad term and there are many different paths within consulting. Once you network with people & decide what type of consulting you want to go into, you can prepare for case studies which you will most likely have to take when you’re going through the interview process. If you want to be extra prepared, it wouldn’t hurt to practice your skills on excel and ppt since you’ll most likely use those at work. I don’t know much about MBAs in Japan, but I would recommend holding off on getting an MBA until you get a few years of work experience under your belt. That way, you 1) can make a more informed decision on whether an MBA is beneficial to you with the career path you want to pursue, and 2) might even be able to get your employer to support you financially to get your MBA degree. Thanks for your comment! I think it really depends on your travel situation. I personally like ANA because I often fly United in the US and they are a part of the Star Alliance (so I can use my miles across these airlines). I also find ANA seats to be more comfortable than JAL seats, so prefer ANA for international flights. Hope this is helpful😊

Hey Francisco! Aww I don't have the recipe, but I can definitely try to make it again in NY and film it with the ingredients :D

I was a pre-med student in college and most of my internships were at hospitals / clinics, so when I was looking at different consulting firms, my firm (which specializes in healthcare / life sciences) really stood out to me! I wouldn't say that I use a lot of my pre-med knowledge in my daily work, but it definitely comes in handy when we have to learn about certain diseases / treatments that we're helping our clients with. I definitely think that your knowledge as a med student will be very valuable for a firm like mine because a lot of the consultants without a healthcare background have questions around a product's profile, etc. since they don't have that super technical medical knowledge. In my role, I also speak to SMEs (subject matter experts) like doctors & pharmacists, so having that background will probably help with those conversations too! I hope this is helpful. Let me know if I should make a video on my background :)
