    OK, I fully agree that George Foreman was one of the Greatest and Toughest Fighters of all time But He let Ali beat Him in that Rope-A-Dope Fight! At this point in His career He looked like He was going to be Unbeatable and IMO, Ali made Him look like a Fool in that fight! SO WHY was there Never a Rematch? Almost every Heavy Weight Fight in Boxing History, there Was a Rematch and sometimes a Third Fight, which was called a Rubber match, so WHY NO Re-Match?????

    I was at the semi final in Bellevue arena / leisure centre in Manchester that Thursday night and while Peter Jones and Ray Gilbody were fighting Harry Carpenter was walking around the arena talking to all and sundry , so it was a complete surprise to hear him correctly calling the shot that ended the contest as i watched the BBC highlights back in the hotel with the rest of the Welsh boxers later that night .

    Ali was screaming at Norton right hand, right hand! He saw it but didn't happen. That's why Ali came out throwing right hand leads against Forman.

    Big George was just a bad bad matchup for Fraziers boxing style. He kept trying to walk down Foreman and George just kept pushing him back while hitting him with haymakers. Smoking Joe had zero chance!

    Foreman, Frazier and Norton were basically street fighters wheras Ali was a boxer and there was the difference! Ali had power and guile and was a world class mover!

    Can we acknowledge that George frequently had his hands down? His defense was to push his opponent out of reach, deflect punches with his hands, and be able to absorb some leaping hooks. Frazier and Norton both snuck in some stiff lefts early on but George ate them and kept coming. Very impressive, but Ali saw the pattern and devised the most appropriate counter-pattern. Tremendous competitors all around.

    Fighters don't always hear commands when they're in the middle of action. The other fight initiated the hold by grabbing behind his neck and they worked their way out of before Holyfield knocked him out. It looked as though the ref was resigned to let the action go on anyway at that point and both fighter were still engaging. It was 5 seconds till the end of the round anyway and the guy was up. He could have easily let the fight go into the next round. Freak situation to be sure but the ref overreacted IMO.

Lloyd Honeyghan was born in Jamaica, Joe Bugner was born in Hungary, Herbie Hide was born in Nigeria.. Boza Edwards and John Mugabi were born in Uganda.. I hope you get my point.

    ali for all his bravado would have suffered the same fate if those ropes hadn't allowed him to evade that power. George didn't train, wouldn't train actually...and actually hadn't needed to until then...ali layed on the ropes until george was exhausted. Ray leonard could have ko'd george at that point.

    George Foreman was one of the best fighters of all time. He was very well developed physically and very strong! Foreman studied Rocky Marciano, the great heavyweight champion of the world. Foreman uses that right uppercut to crush Joe Frazier. Foreman also uses the round house right that was another Rocky Marciano punch. Foreman crushes Ken Norton like a steam roller, just like Gorman said in that interview. Way to go George!

    Why didn't George go to a neutral corner after the second knockdown in the Norton fight? And did you catch the late left hook he threw after the ref stepped in? A dirty fighter. I was so happy to see him get destroyed by Ali!

  • @LifeBeginsAtSixty60-ro3il
    @LifeBeginsAtSixty60-ro3il 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I was so happy to see Ali destroy Foreman! George thought he was invincible. He was arrogant. Well all that came crashing to a sorry end for the poor George when he actually faced a REAL BOXER and not punching bags like Frazier and Norton. George was just a punching machine, not a boxer. and before you say it, yea, Ali lost to both Ken and Joe because he thought he could trade with them, and frankly, Ali was not a KO artist. However, he avenged BOTH losses to Frazier and Norton. It was Ali's greatest movement when he felled the favored George Foreman. Humiliated him too! and for while, he quit boxing.

  • @AmericanPie1960
    @AmericanPie1960 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Frazier never moved and was an easy punching bag for Foreman. Same with Norton. Only the Great Ali had the sense to move laterally and keep that sticking the jab in Foreman's face, which along with the rope-a-dope ended up winning the fight and cementing his legend.

    I was afraid for the Ali vs Foreman fight after seeing what happened to Frazier but as a 14y.o., Ali was my hero. All my friends took Foreman, but I stuck with Ali and it was the most nervous I ever felt as a kid! Never forget how relieved I was when I found out Ali won. We had no way to watch fights back then, so I had to read it in the newspapers.
