This has been a very informative video! Thanks so much. I’ve used MFW and Masterbooks. This year we chose MFW Countries and Cultures but I’m not finding the flow with one child. This helped me see why! Now to decide between Masterbooks or HOD. lol. help!
@@kaydeeh5996 so glad to hear it was helpful! Masterbooks is great if you want to piece each subject together and prefer worksheets and a more traditional approach to assess learning. HOD is also great if you want to have it all packaged for you, but it leans more toward notebooking and hands-on projects. Hope you find the best fit for you and your family. ☺️
We just started with level 1 history with generations. Even in the early elementary years I love how they incorporate Godliness or ungodliness into everything and explaining in a biblical perspective. Ive looked into some history curriculums aimed for middle and high school and a lot of times they just weave the "christian" history (stuff from the bible) into the timeline of "regular" history. Yes they do mention that God created the world but thats about it. I am glad we found Generations. I like how they are very strong in history and making it a biblical worldview as well. Will continue to use their history stuff up till grade 12.
@@TheGLOSSette yes! I totally agree. Thank you for sharing so that others can learn more. ☺️
We just came across Generations not long ago so we're not using God's Big Story and just reading straight for the bible. But i love their history stuff. We just started with The Story of Jesus' People.
So fun! They’re so creative I love their stuffed animals!
ADD is almost always connected to nutrition. Your kid doesn't have a pharmaceutical deficit.
I'm ADHD and 38years old, my wife sent this video to me and I have to be honest. I have no idea how she listen to this. I also don't understand where this info came from but very little would have been useful to me as a child. Just my opinion
@@James-sy6fy we, too, have dealt with ADHD, and we found these tips from doctors and specialists to be very helpful for us. Of course, every person is different, so what works for one may not work for another. If you don’t mind me asking, what would have been most helpful to you as a child? Did you find something that really worked? Sharing here may give someone else some insights that could be helpful in their journey. Thanks for visiting.
Thank you! It was so helpful and lots of wisdom.💜💖

Homeschool school mom here! I am homeschooling 4, 8, 12 and eventually my 4 month old. I want to re use the many workbooks i have over again so thinking of tearing them apart, making copies and rebounding them with discs so my kids each have their own workbooks. I hate ring binders, such a waist, and always end up breaking. Disc bounding seems to be most practical and effectient. What are your thoughts on my idea? And cons i need to know about?
@@lillyflo5 hi! I think discs are great, but they may be a bit much for little ones. Depending on the quality of the discs, they may be a bit more prone to breakage and/or they may get in the way. I do love the ease of adding in pages, though, so it could definitely work with older children. For student workbooks, I personally found the ProClick system or the comb-binding system a bit easier to manage. Hope you find the perfect fit for your family!
@nurturingconnectionshomeschool Thank you so much for responding! Looking into the proclick! But what good quality discs do you recommend? I only have the we r makers multi cinch tool and find that brand of discs has been a pain. So looking to see what other brands they are compatible with. Disc bound discs is all new to me. 😆
@@lillyflo5 I bought Talia discs, but they crack every now and then when I put my planner in a bag with other stuff. I just bought an extra set and swap out when needed. It hasn’t been too bad, but I’m sure there are better ones out there. Metal ones should be more durable. I was just hooked on pink and stuck with them. ☺️
Thanks. This made it so much easier to figure out how to teach this
Great review!!!!
I definitely needed to hear your words of encouragement! I am going to remember what you said “today I’m not teaching your math, I’m teaching you to overcome when things get hard.” I love that so much. Math has certainly been a journey with my daughter and I have told her that we get to choose to do everything, even learning math, as though we are doing it for the Lord. Thank you for this video and the encouragement💗
@@Built_Resilient amen! So happy to hear it was an encouragement to you. 💗

@@ashleymckinney5126 thank you for your purchase! I pray that the curriculum blesses you and your child. 💗 And thank you for letting me know about the site links. I’ll need to adjust those. ☺️
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool I’ve been researching what to use for my upcoming Kindergartener and this is going to be perfect! Shes my last one to teach to read (😭) so I really wanted something fun and hands on for her. Thank you so much!
Hi! Would I be able to incorporate this with my fathers world Prek Vollage of Discovery? I have two kids 3&4 and I’ve noticed they want MORE to do during class time. Also I would need to print double of everything. Do u know of any place where I can order them to get printed so i don’t waste so much ink? Thank you! It looks amazing 😍
Thank you! I’m not familiar with the set up for Voyage of Discovery, but it most likely teaches the alphabet in a different sequence than the one I created in the curriculum. I set it up to introduce decoding more easily and to help avoid confusion with more challenging letters. Having said that, I think that any type of exposure to beginning reading skills in the early years can be helpful as long as your children are eager to learn and don’t feel overwhelmed with extra formal lessons. You may consider just using NCR with your older child for now or only use it a few days a week. Another option would be to get the add-ons with just the flash cards, booklist, and rhyme and coloring pages. These could then be introduced using the sequence in MFW. I just added some limited printed options in my shop. ☺️ Hope that helps! Whatever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful year! Enjoy the journey. 💗
Looks awesome!
Thank you so much! 💗
This was a great video, thank you. I had never heard that about the allergies and adhd.
Glad to hear it was helpful. 💗
Thank you for sharing! What ages would you recommend for this?
You’re welcome. 💗 They recommend the books for ages 4-12, but I’ve read them with my mom in the room, and she’s enjoyed them too. ☺️
Do you have the links for those?
I have some links in my description. Did I miss something? Let me know, and I’ll put it up. 😊 Thanks!
im filling out the planner now! What are the numbers 1-4 for in the planner next to the objectives? to track how your child is doing with 4 meaning the concept has "landed"? I cant find this info in any of your videos
strangely actually my files dont have line with the numbers 1-4 like yours, just the squares
Hi! In my grades 1-12 bucket planner, I used the numbers to track each of the children as in child 1, child 2, etc. In the preschool/kindergarten planner, however, I printed a separate planner for each child and used the columns to include the years that each concept was introduced, such as 3 years old, 4 years old, etc. I would also mark when a concept was mastered in the appropriate column. I later decided to leave the columns blank on the planner so that it could be used however the user wanted to use it. Hope that helps! ☺️
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool thank you! I think I found a way to use it for kinder!
@@luccalele9740 yay! Happy planning!

@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool thank you so much!
I was looking through your videos. Do you have a video on 1st grade? Used MFW for kindergarten, but for some reason looking at heart of dakota again for first. Used HOD for pre k.
I’m sorry, but I didn’t put together a video when we used MFW for 1st grade. We used it our first time through, then switched to HOD for my girls for 1st grade and used some of our favorite hands-on MFW activities along the way. MFW focuses more on Biblical history, while HOD focuses on both Bible and world history. If your child is doing well with the MFW phonics program, then I believe that it continues in grade 1. With HOD, you can pick the reading program to use. Hope you find the best fit for your family. Happy homeschooling! ☺️
Hey sweet mama! I just subscribed to your channel. This was very interesting. I was already doing this looping system in our homeschool but didn't know the term for it. This is very encouraging. Looking forward to more contens. Thank you for sharing this. 🙏☺️

Super helpful and encouraging! Thanks! ❤
So happy to hear that. Thanks!
My two children are 4 and 5.5, so they are 17 months apart- my daughter can read some but not fluently yet. I also have a 1 year old. What do you think would fit us better?
My personal favorite for that age was My Father’s World: God’s Creation from A to Z. For my younger two, we did a separate reading program but enjoyed all of the other activities and lessons in MFW. We then switched to HOD for first grade then back again. 😊 I have a review on MFW kindergarten if you want to check it out to get a better idea if this would be a good fit for you and your children. Hope that helps!
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool thank you!! I definitely want to pick something and stick to it I feel like I have switched so many times this year lol. What reading program did y’all use?
@@lindsayp0523 totally understand. One thing to keep in mind is that if you go through either program straight, there may be some repeat years or “catch-up” years, depending on the age of your child. This gave us just a little bit of flexibility to try something different for a year or two then continue on with the curriculum. 😊 I have a video with the reading programs we’ve used over the years as well. I hope that is helpful. Enjoy the journey. 💗
I like that: Today we are going to learn how to overcome challenges, learning Math is just an added bonus!
Hi we have that set from Generations Christian series and the books, my son is 11, he’ll be 11 1/2 by Aug, it looks great. But my feelings were it would be over his ability using the workbook, it looked advance esp the essays at the end of each unit. What are your thoughts? Is this generally aimed for 11-12 year olds?
I think it really depends on the child. Of course, you can always adapt it to best meet the needs of your child. I’m personally using these as read-alouds for my 15, 12, and 9 year-old children. We use the workbook as a resource. Sometimes we do the questions orally, sometimes we fill out the answers. I use the essays for the older two and the life integration projects for all of them as applicable. I also add activities that I think about along the way, like geography crafts for Switzerland when we were reading Heidi and a Brave Book on communism when I introduced God’s Big Smuggler. Make it work for you and enjoy the journey. 💗
Do you print new weekly planning sheets each week and add them in as you go?
In the little years, I stuck with 1-2 weeks at a time. This kept us on track but gave us the flexibility to add in seasonal activities, play dates, field trips, etc.
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool Makes sense! Do you just print more of the planning sheets from the PDF as you go? The document only contains one of each type and a blank so im wondering logistics on how to use throughout the year and the easiest way to do it
@@luccalele9740 now that my kids are older, I print about 6 copies of the same page at a time for each term. Before, I would just print each week. Hope that helps. ☺️
I purchased the kinder bucket planner, and am wondering what is the best way to fill in the planners for each week. Do you just print new blanks each week? or use any other system?
Thank you for your purchase! I pray that the planner blesses you and your little ones. Have you watched the videos I put together on the kinder bucket planner? I think you’ll find some good options in video 2: www.nurturingconnectionshomeschool.com/post/how-to-plan-your-homeschool-preschool-kindergarten If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. ☺️
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool I did but im still confused, sorry! lol. I see all the options for planning, but once you write the weekly plan in then I'd need a new form for the following week, but if I bind my planner I can't add new sheets. Am I making it more complicated than it needs to be?? I also saw your disc option where you can add sheets, is this what you do?
@@luccalele9740 no problem. ☺️ If you want to print for the whole year, you would just make 30-36 copies of the weekly page and bind it along with any of the other pages that you’d like to use. I used to use the ProClick binding system so that I could add or change things up if needed. I now use the disc-bound system, which makes it easy to add in pages.
Thanks for the video! Would you consider this a full LA program?? Could it be used as a bible curriculum? how long is it taking your kids to do a lesson? Thanks for sharing! Sorry for all the questions... I have never seen this before.. Thank you!
Sure! I think it could be used as a full LA program in the lower levels along with the phonics program. In the upper levels, you may want to add an ELA program to cover grammar and mechanics and written composition, along with something for spelling. The upper levels of GBS cover vocabulary, parts of speech, revision exercises, reading comprehension and application. Yes, it can absolutely be used as a Bible curriculum or read aloud. We’ve changed how we use it (more on this in the video), but a full lesson can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes or more-depending on the child. (We usually split the lessons if it gets much longer than that.) Hope that helps!
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool yes! it does. Thank you!
Wonderful advice. ❤❤
Thank you. I’m glad it was helpful. 💗
Do U Have An Pre-K/Kindergarden Books That U Can Give Us For Our Son Let Me Know
No, I’m sorry. Any of the books we have kept over the years have sentimental value and are still some of our favorites. I’m holding onto them for my youngest to continue to enjoy and for my grandchildren one day. ☺️
The beauty of homeschooling is that you can make adjustments to benefit your child as needed.. I remember dreading my last 2 classes in high school. My mind had tapped out for the day and I had a hard time sitting in my desk the last 2 hours. Your kids are blessed to have you ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words. 💗 It truly is a blessing to be able to support our children as needed.
Do you have a video that shows your loop scheduling
I don’t think I’ve specifically talked about loop scheduling aside from what I mentioned here. I can put together a video on it and get it up soon. Thanks!
Love your content! Do you have a video or blog post on how you teach language arts and writing? Having used MFW, did you use their Language Lessons for Today and Writing Skills? Did you feel like it was enough? I'm also a former teacher and, while I'm trying to trust the process, it seems a little too gentle. I have enjoyed it, but was wondering what your thoughts are since you're a little further down the road than I am. Thanks!
@@amys2205 I feel like we’ve used SO many things for ELA, including curriculum that I wrote for my children. My background was in ELAR, so trusting the process for me was very difficult as well. Two of my learners require more explicit and hands-on approaches without all the excess, and it’s been difficult finding a good fit for them. We tried MFW LLFT and WSFT early on, but it didn’t have enough practice for my child. Looking back, it may have really worked for my middle child, who loves reading and writing and is currently using Writing Strands, which is similar. I’ve heard great things about MFW ELA, but I personally think it would be better suited for a child that learns writing more easily. I’m hoping to put together a video soon on ELAR and some things we’ve used along the way. I’ve shied away from it a bit because of a-l-l the things we’ve had to put together to make it work, but I’ll see what I can do. ☺️ Thanks for your feedback. 💗
Hi, I was looking for reviews of BFIAR and came across your channel.. My littles have just turned 3 and I love snuggling up with them to read but wanted to do more with the books.. I downloaded their samples and was excited to see the content for the books.. I’m not a homeschooling mom but I am a babysitting nana and am just amazed and in awe to be able to be part of their lives during these first years .. so I started Nana’s Preschool with them.. I’m pretty sure I have just as much fun as they do… Thank you for this review, I will be sure to check out your website❤
That’s so wonderful! I love that you’re able to make those extra special memories with them. What a blessing. 💗
Thank you for such a thorough review ❤ I have purchased HOD Little hearts for His glory guide for my 5 year old 🎉 Can't wait to see how it goes 😊 I also like the resources that they recommend from Christian Liberty press, I even purchased math K from them and phonics A ...
That’s so great! Hope you all have the best year ever. 💗
I love Generations!
We love generations curriculum ❤
It’s such a great curriculum. 💗 Which subject is your favorite?
@@nurturingconnectionshomeschool I use Generations phonics with my 5 year old, and my 6th grader is using their science and history curriculum. I have also purchased a whole grade 1 level bundle, can't wait to dive in after we finish the first book of phonics! 🙏
Your God's big story was very helpful for me 😊 thank you very much 🙏
@@tatyana1324 that’s so awesome! Thanks for sharing. ☺️ I’m also glad to hear the review was helpful.
So glad you are back! I would love to know what’s in your morning time loops…you may have that somewhere.
Thank you! 💗 I’ll aim at putting together a video on this and get it up soon. ☺️
Love it 😍 thank you for sharing 🙏
Ok, so I watched your review on MFW CTG. I'm going to be using CTG with my 3rd and 4 th grade boys this coming year. How does Generations compare to MFW?
That’s exciting! This particular World History course by Generations is for high school and covers all major time periods, whereas My Father’s World breaks it all up into a four-year plan. For the younger grades, we loved My Father’s World, especially the booklists and hands-on learning opportunities. Generations also has a history series for the younger grades, but we haven’t used it just yet. A few general differences: Generations includes a textbook and workbook, so it’s more concise and open-and-go. The workbook has extension activities and map work as well, focusing on a particular geographic location. The history that is covered is centered on the advancement of the church in that location, along with some other key historical events. My Father’s World includes readings from a variety of books and includes notebooking pages instead of comprehension-type questions. It also ties in Biblical and world history with an emphasis on a time period instead of a location. Hope that helps! ☺️
Thank you so much! I appreciate your help. I love your channel; it's one of the reasons we're using MFW! 😊
@@amys2205 thank you. 💗 Have a wonderful homeschool year! Enjoy the journey.
ABC SEE HEAR DO is another phonics based set of learning books that uses kinesthetic learning as well as art to teach the child how to read. They are very fun, colorful, and simple. My 4yr old loves these
Yes!! B-I-B-L-E
I have purchased your Reading Level A to use with my kindergartener. I am debating whether I should do MFW God's Creation A to Z with him in addition. Would it complement MFW?
MFW is so much more than a reading program. It includes music, art, science, Bible, and math as well. Two of the three times we used it, we skipped the reading and did everything else. We used Level A instead and it worked out just fine. If your child likes to do school work, you could try both, but they do follow a different sequence. Even then, most children need that extra repetition when learning to read. Using Level A can help set a stronger foundation for reading-even if a child picks up sight words quickly. As they advance through the years, a good phonics foundation can be helpful for decoding more challenging texts and later spelling as well. Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. ☺️
And thank you for purchasing Level A. I pray it blesses you and your family. 💗
Completely agree with you about Hero Tales. My kids are pretty familiar with a lot of those missionaries through the Torch lighters series and I felt Hero Tales was extremely lacking. It only told a small portion of the stories
