Access time is a phrase used for SRAM Read operation. It implies the maximum time that it takes for the whole SRAM output bus to update after the application of the clock signal. It can also be referred to as Clock to Q delay, or the SRAM propagation delay. Akin to contamination delay in normal digital circuits, SRAMs have Retain Time which is the minimum time that the SRAM output bus takes to start updating from the assertion of clock. Cycle time, on the other hand, is the maximum time that the SRAM takes to complete a read or a write operation and reset all its internal signals to their default states to prepare for the next read or write cycle. This determines the operational frequency of SRAM. Now, in SRAM write, there is no output to measure. And so, there is no use of Access time during write.

Interesting. I'm using the python library from Adafruit to read the dht sensor and have this issue. Maybe they have not implemented the begin function in their source code.
