I as a white guy was never familiar with the whole concept of black people being followed in stores until this episode. Then my black friends started to tell me that sort of thing happened all the time - that's when I realized the only difference was that the white store employees in real life don't make it look as obvious as Ms. Hendra, they're usually just pretending to clean or stock shelves nearby rather than following around the black customer like a lost puppy dog. At any rate, Tony, you should take pride in your performance here, as you've contributed to highlighting this important issue.
For those wondering why Zoey, James, and Dustin don’t get in trouble with suspension ot expulsion by Dean Rivers for messing with Logan to get angry in “Anger Management”. This scene shows that Dean Rivers will allow it for Logan to get karma. Because Logan doesn’t get any real punishment.

She did. 😉
@@tonywinterstv3148Good I’m glad that your character didn’t give the bigot just a warning.
I know this was back then but this was the episode that does racism right and best of all it does not try to dehumanized white people. It only says that particular person is racist not the whole white community is racist. It doesn’t try to do white privilege or white guilt or anything like that like the new proud family show. If people are gonna write a show or episode on racism then they should take notes on this show.

Love this episode
Me too. ❤️
I was such a fan of this show. It was gone all too soon. And what can I say about Brucie? Classy, funny, energetic and very talented. I wish I could have met him. He was to England what Bob Barker is to us.
I recall him being very kind. He chatted with us off camera and was very sympathetic to me when I blew it during one of my rounds as team captain. Only fond memories of that experience. I walked away with $2500 which was a kings ransom to me at the time. My team and I got together after the show and had a party at one of the guy’s apartments. I bought a used Toyota Corolla and drove it for several years. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@tonywinterstv3148 How did you blow it-- saying the word (given that captains usually gave the first clues to any word or phrase)?
@@bmasters1981 You may be right. I’d have to dig out the VHS of this show to say for sure. But I do recall the phrase was “construction site”. I was thinking things like, cranes, bulldozers and girders. When the guys and I talked afterwards they said they were thinking, hammers, nails and screwdrivers. That was somehow the disconnect and I was stumped.

Lenny the one who was getting proposed too. Thank you for posting this. Something told me to look for this just now and I can’t believe it was here all this time.
That’s fantastic! You’re very welcome. I pray he is well and I hope they are still together. I was an actor driving limos on the side. I got a call to drive for this production one day. When I arrived, I learned they wanted me to act on camera. I told them if they wanted me to do that they were going to have to pay me as an actor. I’m a member of SAG AFTRA. They weren’t happy about it. They probably assumed they would get a guy who didn’t know any better. But they acquiesced and paid me a professional wage.

Hurry up and buy
The acting and directing in this play is very good. The problem is the script is absolutely atrocious. For those who don't know, a theater who wants to put on this play must buy rights to do so from the play publisher, and one MUST follow the script (when you buy rights to do the play, you don't have the right to alter the script--you are stuck with it). Now, the book this play is based on is fine as a book, and the movie with Sidney Poitier was outstanding and shows just how great this play COULD be, but sadly, the man who adapted the play to stage, F. Andrew Leslie, seems to have cared more just about getting it done so he could sell it than doing it well. It is a terrible adaptation. He has the "Father" (mainly) and Homer basically simply reading the book to you in narration for much of the play. All of this should have been changed to different scenes and dialog that would act out the play (such as was done in the movie). No matter how well the directing is, and how well the actors perform their parts, this play will never ever be as good as it could be simply because it is one of the worst written plays I have ever read. It is too bad the director could not change the script, as it looks like with these actors and his directing, the play could reach a much higher level. But sadly, no matter that both the directing and the acting was done well in this play, the script they had to follow made the play much less than it could be. So congratulate those involved for doing a good job, but please do not blame them for the poor quality of the writing they had to follow.
