I named my Middle son Cale after him!
Anybody here after Allison's death today?
Davey Allison was my guy back then , But Ricky Rudd got screwed on that deal...Horrible call
3:55 DID THEY REALLY PUT A CENSOR BLEEP OVER THAT WORD BECAUSE I CAN TELL YOU, THEY PUT A CENSOR BLEEP OVER ONE OF THE MOST MILQUETOAST SWEARS EVER. THEY REALLY CENSORED "DURNDEST"...THAT'S LIKE CENSORING "HOOBLEY"
God bless you Todd and god bless Steve. You’re not alone.❤️🇺🇸
PEOPLE DID DlE THAT DAY! THEY JUST COVERED IT ALL UP!
Name the person or persons that died.
@@jstrahan2whether it's true or not it wouldn't surprise me back then for big companies to pay off families if a fan dies and sign a NDA.
I'm gonna dress up in a suit and tie and sit in front of the house congress and use the word awkward
So what's changed?
the day kurt busch went from whiney little crybaby 2 being a grown man.greatest finish ever imo.
They dont make em like cale anymore Fucking legend
I want Waldell Wilson's haircut. What is it called?
Austin Dillon got his win taken away
Wrong, the win still stands but his playoff eligibility based on winning Richmond is revoked
Rudd should have let Davey catch up then pass him again. Then Nascar couldn't say it wasn't clean.
Yknow it's nice to know a day that should've ended badly turned out to be one of triumph.
I WENT TO TALLADEGA ONCE / THIS WAS IT / WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME / I WENT DAYTONA 30 YEARS 75 TO 05 IN FEB = SOMETIMES JULY / WHEN I WENT DAYTONA THAT YEAR JULY / 4 OR 5 TIMES THE CABLES IN FRONT TRI/ OVAL / CHANGES CAME / RACING IMPROVED
Man those guys were crazy tough. Average over 200mph. They don't even hardly touch 200mph top speed today. I think Bill Elliott went even faster. Man oh man. I loved it back then. I still like it now.
I remember watching this live on ESPN, it was weird in a sense that you watching the crash as it was happening, but not quite believing what you were seeing. All can say is thank the good Lord that the catch fence did it's job and kept Allisons car from flying into the stands that day.
I love it! this is when NASCAR racing was racing and money hadn’t took over yet!
Bobby's car would have easily been in the grandstands if his balls didn't weigh 100 lbs a piece.
RIP - Cale Yarborough 🙏🏁🇺🇸🙏 If you'll notice, the last 5 letters of his last name spell - ROUGH‼️ Which is appropriate, because he was as rough and tumble as it gets ‼️ I'm a Harry Gant fan, but I always liked Cale, and damn sure RESPECTED him‼️
Dae Earnhardts crash changed nascar
This crash resulted in restrictor plates. Dales crash resulted in driver safety features inside the cockpit. Seat, helmet, harness ets
This guy makes a comment about Dale under every video
Speed, speed, speed, and no safety… 💀
This young generation don't have a clue about the men, the teams and cars back then. NASCAR went from being a beloved sport to a woke DEI crap show of entertainment. NASCAR is ruined forever!!!
Born and raised 20 miles away in Sylacauga. I remember when they built it. Had a cousin who tested Harleys there.
Been 40 years now.
Bobby Allison was fearless . he qualified at 211.109 for this race .the engine flywheel broke and busted the left rear tire and he hit the fence.i was there
They weren't drivers, they were gladiators. It took BIG balls to climb behind the wheel.
Circuit de la Sarthe, also referred to as Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans is the largest racecourse with a capacity of 263,500. It is located in Le Mans, Maine, France and consist of local roads that are open to the public most of the year. The 8.47 mi track has undergone modification over the years with the most recent modification being the Circuit N° 15 which was first used in 2014. Circuit de la Sarthe is considered to be very fast with vehicles reporting average speeds of nearly 140 mph. The Bugatti Circuit which is a separate, purpose-built is section located within the track.
Clown .Talladega is a high bank Super Speedway
@@zcam1969 wow you are very intelligent, did your momma tell you that?
@@kevkeary4700 NO i learned it myself
where did you get your bullshit Degree from Oxford ?
@@zcam1969 good man, if you were in the beginning of the conversation you may know that we were talking about the length of race tracks, not speedways. So in future, if you don;t know the facts or the context of the situation, for your own sake, don;t jump down another's troath and accuse them of being clowns like some knocukle head. Now have a good day son.
I just completed a book about J.D. McDuffie. Supposedly he wound up with the LeMans and painted it blue and gold with Bailey Excavating as sponsor. The Montes were great looking race cars all by themselves.
I have never missed a Talladega race dating back to MRN carrying the inaugural September/1969 race, won by a Chrysler Wing Car. Still to this day, Allison climbing the wall and tearing down 150 feet of fence is the most horrifying thing I've seen. Thru the mists of time, people seem to have forgotten that he was inches away from killing hundreds if not 1000 or more people and putting an end to stock car racing in America forever.
those cars roared down that 1 mile long backstretch
Kinda wish they did this more often. Drivers who can't pass cleanly for the win should not WIN the race.
Was the protection fence fixed before the race restarted?
yes, it took around 3 hours to repair the fence, then the race was restarted before darkness
Yes. And the delay was lengthy....like 3 hours and change...due to a problem finding a suitable portable welder to repair and replace all the twisted support pipes and poles.
The front bumper on the Monte Carlo SS was the best thing I had seen in years. I ended up buying me one in 1984.
This is back when men were men. Prove me wrong.
Race in Paradise, Cale. This is one of my all time favorite racing stories.
Talladega my favorite track 🏁💪🏎🇺🇸
Seen 6 races there before the restrictor plates!! The sound was incredible! Bobby’s crash happened right in front of me.
That speed is crazy. Especially for that era.
Especially given the fact at how big and heavy those cars were compared to the ones they race today. I'm 57. I remember watching that race, seeing that I grew up in the neighboring County, Coosa county. Talladega has always been my favorite Nascar race to watch.
You really had to attend a race at either Daytona or Talladega between 83 and 87 to fully appreciated how incredibly fast and on the ragged edge these cars were then. But it was truly a sight to behold.
Out of curiosity, how would you guys feel if they ran a full unrestricted superspeedway race today?
@@crazypnut9260 mixed emotions. I think the excitement would be awesome. I’m sure you would see absolutely crazy speeds, but, even with the aero and all the safety equipment, I could easily see more fatalities. They have restrictions for a reason. Even though sometimes I hate it :/
Buckets of Guts Nerves of Steel= Cale Yarborough!
RIP Cale
3:54 Who The Fuck At Fox Sports Decide to Use The Fucking Bleep Button I Hope That Loser Got Fired
Years later at a roundtable interview, Cale said the car used as the backup was not actually the car he described in this video. It was however a car they had at the shop that was SLATED to become a show car... but had not actually BEEN displayed anywhere yet.
I was introduced to Davie Allison when was just getting started racing ARCA. Cars. He was pleasant young Man I prayed for his Family when heard of his passing. One can only wonder about what could have been. The good lord is with him🙏
I was 15 and watched this live and had no idea. Cool story. RIP Cale. We'll miss you in Nashville.
I bought my first car from Cale, a Honda Accord and bought a 86 Monte Carlo SS because he had driven one. Thanks for the ride Cale. RIP
Cool story. Keep the 86 SS. They are super nice cars. What's the factory color? The Maroon was my favorite. I think they dropped the Metallic Blue after 84 or 85.
If I had an 83 Monte, I'd wrap it in that paint job and lower it a bit to give it that retro Nascar look.
The mid 80's SS's were it. Factory Black, Maroon, Silver, White or Metallic Blue, they were and still are bad ass looking cars.
What a legend.
Rip Cale. What a legend.
Really wish I could’ve met the man I cheered for as a kid . When I started it was the 79’ race I saw and got me hooked even though he was nearing retirement!! Thank you sir !!
Cale was Absolutely fearless....from day one. When he and Ramo Stott got together at Darlington and Cale flew over the wall, even that didn't rattle him either.or the plane wreck with Junior Johnson. Cale was meant to do what he did. If any of today's drivers are looking for someone to look up to, Cale is the man. NOBODY worked harder getting the most out of the car. Drove the first lap as hard as the last lap.....Every single race. I miss him already. GODSPEED CALE.
What a LEGEND!!!! RIP Cale
