Any fitting issues?

I still have my box top of the Memphis Bell from my first Bell kit i got in the early 1960s, have it in a picture frame on the wall in my man cave. I have two 1/72 and one 1/48 scale Memphis Bel today.

I always loved that particular box art. My absolute favorite and I still look it up on the net once in a while just to travel back in time to the days of my youth with my dad at the Air Force museum in Dayton, Ohio. We would watch the documentary "Memphis bell" in the free theater there and see that kit in the gift shop and several times went home with one and dad would teach me how to build it. Thank you so much for the video!

It was called the Workhorse SureFly. Not really sure if it flew.

I think that this will work for me. They do light and heavy steam locomotives, and some different diesel variations, with more to come.

I made this one when I was 7 or 8. 62 or 63 I believe. I was just looking to buy one to add to my Lindberg Bismark and I think I've found one. Your box finds look top quality.

That model is of F-4J #5526 of VFMA-333 "The Fighting Shamrocks" aka "The Triple Treys". The squadron number is 201 which would later become the ride of Maj. Lee ‘Bear’ Lasseter and RIO Capt. John ‘Lil John’ Cummings. They bagged a Mig-21U in that plane in 1972 and damaged a second Mig-21 before they were hit by a SAM and had to eject. It was a MIGCAP mission so they only carried fuel and missiles. They were rescued as were their wingmen and his RIO who also had to eject as they ran out of fuel (tanker was out of position at the beginning of the mission/long story). There is a video of Lil John talking about it on TH-cam and there is another TH-cam video of the audio from that mission. Lil John is my neighbor and a super-great guy (almost 90 now). Sadly, Bear passed some years ago.

Very interesting! Did you ever finish this model?! Having that sitting next to a 1/350 USS Saratoga in its aircraft carrier form would look awesome! I also think a USS Colorado would be a good display partner as it was the ultimate standard class battleship with its 8x16" guns that would've partnered with the Lexington class battle cruisers.

I still can't figure out why people add weathering to a beautiful model build. It would be the same as weathering a nice large scale Chevrolet Camaro (or any car) and weathering it to look like it sat on someone's front lawn for 3 decades, was never started and has animal nests in it.

Totally agree about interior color. Way too many modelers just dump interior green nose to tail. Try to tell them that’s wrong and bam, I’m the asshole. Or even the exhaust streaks coming out of the wing vents.

You've got the torpedo tubes in reverse position. The one with the blast shield goes behind the second funnel and the one with no shield goes between the funnels

I've built a couple of these....one in the 70's and one just a couple of years ago. Mediocre kit compared to what is available now, but with work it can be made to look nice.

It’s hard to tell but did you do exhaust stains with no other weathering?

Waa always interested in getting their 1/72 of this Uboot, now that i see a better representation of the size im gonna get it!
