this was very funny and sweet :) suegiku 🔛🔝 fr. on the note of how to treat jouno’s blindness, while i dont think it was treated horribly, i feel like it could’ve been handled better (tho keep in mind i am not blind or otherwise physically disabled n its a nuanced topic that many ppl in & outside of the disabled community have different perspectives on. this is in no way trying to call it objectively bad or morally reprehensible, just sharing my personal viewpoint and how i would handle it. its clear that you were well intentioned and i appreciate you acknowledging the possibility of having messed up and wanting advice :)) considering the comedic + lighthearted tone of the rest of the video, the sudden shift to a darker, heavier tone that was only otherwise seen in the conversation abt tetchou putting jouno above justice was very jarring and implied that being disabled is an extremely horrible thing to happen to people that should be pitied. like it sounded like his father died or he went into debt or smth lol-while severe injuries that cause disabilities and many of the circumstances that end up causing those injuries are horrible things to go through, the disability caused by them is not, n believing that it is can be harmful because it perpetuates the belief that disabled people are pitiable + helpless and that having a disability is a ‘flaw’ that devalues people’s experiences n makes them less of a full human being. The way the characters responded to jouno’s blindness while knowing none of the circumstances reinforces this view. Jouno’s response to the other characters’ concern is very good, though w/ his body language it further implies that jouno’s disability IS something to be very concerned over, but bc jouno is jouno hes trying to convince the others + himself that its not a big deal (ew feelings). To avoid this, i would remove the part of the characters expressing sympathy/pity for jouno entirely or change it so that the worry is explicitly directed towards the possible circumstance n injury that caused jouno’s blindness (ie what happened?, is he ok in the future?, etc.). Alternatively, to fit better with the humorous tone, i would remove all of the serious aspect n instead have the characters react more casually (“thats rough, buddy”->J:”stfu n never talk again i am not ur ‘buddy’” or just “L” or smth lol) or w a clearly ignorant/stupid response (that comes from the right place, my boys tetchou n tachihara r trying their best :() that jouno/teruko can easily shut down/be generally appalled by, which can then b the end of the conversation (ie “dang how old r u? is that why u have white hair? n i thought fukuchi was senile goddamn”). i hope this wasn’t too extremely long of a read n that u could find it helpful :) im entirely open to having more discussion or to try my best to help clear up anything else u feel u need advice on :) thank you for taking the time to read this n have a wonderful day! As a whole this video was v enjoyable n got down the dynamics between the characters v well :)
