I repeat Sketchley's question: how to save my work? Save - saves a Hindenburg session; export - exports the audio part. How to save the video with the improved audio?
this tool came for free with my Blue Yeti Mic. Honestly, installed it, found it super unintuitive and not working. Uninstalled immediately. Crap tool, thank you but no thank you.
OK, so I've opened the video in Hindenburg and tweaked it; how do I save the audio in the video?
I'm just getting started. I prefer to record using my own 32-bit float recorders (MixPre6 II / Zoom F6), rather than a computer. What scares me is the complexity of most DAWs because they're all designed primarily for music, so the idea of a program designed specifically for Audiobooks, and that can produce ACX friendly files is super exciting. My biggest need is the ability non-destructively snip out mistakes, organize the files and export the files. Does Narrator handle 32-bit float... or should I record in 24 bit?
I would have liked to have a demonstration of how Hindenburg (awful name!) Pro can improve the awful sound of the Stephanie lady. I mean, she sounds really crap. My boss would never have allowed this to be published...
this tells me nothing.
this is a useless tutorial. I can't see what was done or how it was done.
I've been recommended Hindenburg by a fellow podcast producer and downloaded the trial today, looking forward to trying it. But man this video is a slog. Could have been a quarter of the length and twice as effective had you not done it as a double-header and instead scripted it.
Good video but it would save a lot of frustration if you mentioned which version of Hindenburg includes the tools you are showcasing. Thing like colours, sounds, transcription etc are not available in several of the versions offered for sale/download.
Hi @hindenburg, I'm following along (part way through), opened my epub file, but it does not display the chapters like the demo video. It is formatted for those chapters. How did I get them to display?
Thanks, I need this as tbh I was always struggling to edit with music and going to properties was not obvious to me, so I edit voice audio in Hindenburg and then have to stitch everything together in Ableton...it was annoying! Please prvoide more content like this, dealing with removing noise, and which plugins you suggest would be a good one!
Will this be coming to Narrator as well?
Awesome! Thanks for this tutorial :)
Can you do one on how to record chapter 2? Hindenburg keeps wanting to make me start at the time of the last chapter and I don't want to. I want to start at 0:00.
We cant see what you click on to open the open window.
i don't have the option guest and host
Sorry can you develop the possibility to export multiple sections at the same time, separately? Please, your promising it until 2017 on the forums.
Way?
Shit software
This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing. I'm really glad you figured out a way to do this.
Is there any new and easy approach to do this automatically?
Great.
I'd forgotten how to do the 'select everything to the right of the cursor' so found this super useful, thank you.
You guys at Hindenburg are doing brilliant work. Wish more people were turned onto it!
Words cannot describe how much I love Hindenburg Pro. Keep up the great work!
Magic levels include de bleed? Wow, I didn't know this. Awesome. Also the new transcription tools. I only wish I could buy credits and not monthly hours, that's really annoying.
Thank you again Nick and Johnathan. Learing more as the months go by - though now I've upgraded I'm stuck on some silly basic questions that I hope the folks at Hindenburg can fix with a click - or something like that. An old dog still learning new tricks. Thanska gain MM
Great video! I added it to my Hindenburg tips file for future reference. I happened across this while searching for a way to manually "override" the gain or volume in a specific clip (region). Then, at the 7:44 mark, you nailed it. Unfortunately, Gain does not appear on my info popup after right-clicking the region and selecting Properties. My Hindenburg Pro is up to date (I checked for updates before posting this comment), I am using a Mac (also up to date), and I've checked every Hindy menu and setting I can find. Please advise. Thanks!
Has anyone tried transcriptions in Spanish here? I'd like to check if they're accurate enough. Thanks.
Reverse Edit is a life saver!! Just received a 1 hour 19 minute Podcast audio file this morning with a request for 21 cuts - Reverse Edit is so useful. Thanks guys GREAT FEATURE!
Hey, regular user of Hindenburg here for podcast editing. I'd love to see a detect/delete silences (like in Ferrite for example) as I find myself spending most of my editing time removing silences in voice tracks.
absolutely useless! How do I access the dropdown menu with those Markers indicated?
You go to the top menu and choose: View / Markers
Thank you.@@SpokenWorld So a) why don't they show that in the video? and b) it doesn't work. I just tried it, deleted them from the dropdown menu, they are still on the track. At last I did figure out that they will go away when I click in a different track. And this demonstrates to me that I can only have one in and one out at a time. So I've no idea how they manage to have all those markers in there at once.
Hi Flloyd, could I ask you to please contact us at Hindenburg.com/support for more detailed assistance, it is difficult for us to monitor and answer detailed questions here. I assure you that this works as described, I have just double checked, our support team will help you understand how to use markers.
thanks, will do!@@SpokenWorld
Very nice guys. I deeply appreciate the two of you taking the time to share this with us!
Our pleasure : )
This is groundbreaking software for narrators. I’m sold. Bout to sign up. Thank you!
Thank you, well done! But please keep in mind the playback of high resolution (> FHD) on FHD screens is blurred, at least on my monitor (Eizo 1920*1200)
Yes, I'm really sorry about that. It might be an oversight from my end .. but I can't get the screen recorder software to crab i a higher resolution. I'll see what I can do about it.
Where can I find the defaiult path e.g. for backups
This is referencing how to set up your session in terms of tracks etc. It's a separate issue for saving sessions and the auto backup feature which would be at your save location.
Johnny has read some of my favorite audiobooks! Noir, razzmatazz, mash, high fire great audiobook narrator!
Fantastically helpful video, gentlemen! One note...During the explanation of "MAGIC LEVELS", I wish Nick had explained the function/effect of checking the "Merge on Close" box. Perhaps you could explain that feature in a response to this post. Suggested Tutorial.....Because I edit many interviews with 2 - 4 people, I spend an immense amount of time removing annoying "uhms, ahs and stops-restarts" in the speakers' vocal tracks. So I would benefit greatly from a tutorial covering the fine points of how to "hide" or make seamless edits using cross fades and other tricks. Also, please touch on how to eliminate that horrible click sound created by an edit that doesn't "zero cross" (i.e. the splice doesn't occur at zero amplitude on the waveform). When you zoom way in to find the best splice point, it's often impossible to place the play head exactly on the zero amplitude point. Being able to hear an actual vocal track with good and bad edits would be awesome.
Hi, Thanks for the feedback. We will try to work some of your questions into an upcoming "favourite tips and tricks". But I can also quickly answer you here. "Zero Cross Edits" is a problem of the past. We have actually never had that problem in Hindenburg. The reason being, we have an automatic cross-fade that eliminates the "click" you otherwise would experience in a DAW that does not take in into consideration. So you can easily make edits with no headache. Merge on Close: Merge is a feature that groups the currently selected regions on a (single) track and puts them all into a new container .. called a Merged Regions. The Merged Region still contains all the sub-regions. If you "Un-Merge" they will all come back. The advantage of merging a regions is, that you can apply volume automation to it. This could be, fades, ducks, soundbeds ... Why would you use it? An example could be, if you had made music edits to make your bed of music longer to fit the story .. and that resulted in a huge amount of clips. Typically is tricky to make edits across many clips ... so, Merge them and apply your ducks. Hope this helps
It's great that transcription is done offline on my own device. What I don't understand is why there's a limit to the number of hours transcribed when the user provides the compute power for transcription.
Good question @Roninkurosawa. Creating transcription technology that works off-line on a small processor is a very specialised and expensive task. We have licensed the technology from a third-party and their licensing conditions include tiers based on number of hours that are transcribed using the technology l. You may have noticed that the hourly transcription rate is still a lot lower than if you pay for a service or have a subscription with a competing product that includes a certain number of transcription hours per month? In principle, we could adapt an open source version of existing transcription technology, but that would require that we install a very large file on your hard disk and increase the processor requirements for transcription to a level that would not be viable for most of our customers.
I don't have a lot of things in my tool bar that you do, IE H1 H2 etc. they are also not in the view drop down.
If you do have Narrator (you can see your product in "About") then you will be able to open the Book Bar from: View / Toolbars / BookBar If you still don't see it, then you might not have Narrator, but Hindenburg PRO. For us to be better able to help, then please write to support@hindenburg.com
Hello! So far, I really like the software. Is there a manual? Also, is it possible to loop play a clip?
We don't have a text manual. What we do have is a shortcut page on the website, where you can find the feature you are looking for, see the shortcut, get a description and even see a short video showing the feature. Hope you can use it. hindenburg.com/academy/shortcuts/shortcuts-hindenburg-2-pro/
@@SpokenWorld Thank you!
"Promosm" ✋
Thanks for showing how to use templates with a video track. How do we use it when we want to import from the FCPXML? Final Cut Pro has terrible audio handling, and the method shown will only work with a rendered audio track. For example, if I'm editing an interview, I want to be able to use the XML so I can treat each audio track individually and apply fades or whatever else within Hindenburg without having to set up each channel with each effect each time. This is where templates would be a big time saver. Even better than saving templates would be if we could save our plugin configurations so we can easily load those into any track at any time without needing a template.
Hi Jesse, Thanks for the question. Happy to see that FCPXML is actually being used. We were under the impression that we had made it only for our own sake. This is also the reason why we have not paid as much attention to the small details - so we have not implemented the Open into Template logic as with a single video file. But since you clearly are using it, then we'll have a look at it. Regarding saving FX bins, then that is also on our "to do " list. Guess we better get working on it. If you do have FCPXML session that you would be willing to share with us for the sake of development, then that would be appreciated. Best; Nick
@@SpokenWorld What's the best way to get the FCPXML to the team?
Hey Jesse, please send it to support@hindenburg.com
Thanks for the tutorial. Quick question: when I save a template, I don't see the New > Template bit. ... Do I have to save it to a particular place?
When you save a Template it will suggest a default Template folder. Use that. This is the folder that Hindenburg will look for when finding the templates.
Please caption your videos. Accessibility matters.
Hi, sorry but we see captions on our end.
Please manually caption your videos. Accessibility matters.
Hi, sorry but we see captions on our end.
oh hurrah, my duck made it into frame! all is right with the world. Also, I love the look on Bek's face when she starts playing sounds. That's an audio person right there, lol!
It is a well-known fact that sound people have an infectious enthusiasm : )
Is Manuscript functionality available only in English? I am a Japanese speaker. Can I use it in Japanese?
Hi, Yes indeed Japanese is one of the transcription languages.
This makes me giggle every time!
Thanks for that!
You bet!
