The breakdown just hits different, for me it's the same feeling as remembering all of those things that you couldn't do but you really wanted, like an old memory of something or someone that you would never see again. this is one of my favorite songs from Her’s. it makes me feel incredibly happy yet empty at the same time. i actually have a little story time to go along with this song: so one day i was playing “she needs him” in the car with my friend who also enjoys and listens to Her’s, and while the song was playing, she looks at me and tells me, “you know the band, Her’s, both the members died in a crash about 2 years ago.” i had absolutely no idea the members weren’t alive anymore, and even before that i was thinking if the band ever went on a tour, i would’ve loved to get tickets. i looked at my friend and told her i had no clue they both passed away. i was so shocked and sad at the same time. the song was almost over at this point and the mood in the car was so happy but when my friend told me the members were gone, tears started to stream down my face. i was so sad that i would never get to hear them in a concert or even get the chance to listen to a new album from the band. even so, i’m grateful for the beautiful music that they did make, and i’m beyond thankful that i get to listen to it and connect to the lyrics. ever since my friend told me about their passing, the music always seems to make me emotional, even when it’s a feel-good happy song sorry for the long comment, i just wanted to tell my little story about why the band means so much to me :)
