    Would you say Luka's improvements as a defender are more a result of him trying harder and caring more to defend well on the court, developing his defensive game through practice and knowing what he can do well, or a change (if there has been any) schematically in how he's used? As always, thanks for your videos.

    • @EduSanjuan777
      @EduSanjuan777 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Trying. Also his team has both more offensive firepower and better defense so he doesnt need to score as much and has more stamina to spend on defense. His lateral movement is quite ok and he has size even if he is not Athletic he is smart. He always had the tools to be a decent defender, even a good one depending on match UPS.

    Mavs not being top 10 is kinda ridiculous. They're one of only three undefeated teams and they have the #1 rated offense in the NBA.

      @theJumpBall 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. I'll say a few things one WAY too early to focus on offensive rating, but I wasn't impressed with their opponents, they were supposed to win all those games but they were in tight ones against the Spurs and Nets. That's my line of thinking and we'll see how they do this week.

    Listen jaren is a great help defending rim protector. he has the luxury of being the 4 meaning he barely has to guard pick and rolls. More than half of his blocks are where he starts out from the corner guarding an off ball 4 and then sees someone driving and runs to the paint to get his block. He’s great at that. And then he gets his chase downs here and there. He’s in the perfect situation for him to get those blocks. Not taking nothing away from him but I just hate how having a high block number puts u at the top of dpoy list when there are other guys out there who play better defense in multiple different aspects that don’t show up in the stat sheet. Like bam switches 1-5 almost every possession and guards them efficiently forcing into a tough shot or a bad pass resulting in no score. He gets overlooked because he doesn’t have a high block number and that’s all anybody cares about from a center. The heat defense plummets when he’s not on the floor. The way the heat use him, it’s almost impossible for him to get that many blocks. When he’s switched on to the guard he denies them a path to the basket he doesn’t even let them get past him for him to even be provided with a chance for a easy block, he forces them either to give up the ball to a weaker shot creator or into a very low percentage shot

    The best version of the Grizzlies is the one where Jaren is the best player and more than the third/fourth option on offense. He definitely has the potential to be one of the most dominant players in the league. It doesn't show up as well on TV and he was a twig when he was drafted so most people don't appreciate how huge he is. I'm telling you man as someone who's watched him in person up close it's honestly mind blowing watching someone that big move that fast. The other "unicorns" so far don't have the frame to bulk up like he has. He's shown the ability to dominate with strength which is something valuable a guy like Mobley will never be able to do. Elite defenders are typically very strong. Giannis, Smart, Embiid, Gobert, Draymond, etc are strong dudes(especially Smart not enough credit for that).

    • @teereacted1356
      @teereacted1356 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love how anytime somebody brings up elite defenders they don’t mention bam, like wow he really doesn’t get credit for his defense

      @@teereacted1356 Dude I freaking love Bam especially since he's been more aggressive this year on offense. That's honestly why I left him off cause I named Marcus Smart and just started thinking of great defenders that annoy me lol.

    The player movement can be just as important and the ball movement. Last year before the Celtics got things going everyone pointed out their lack of ball movement but it's really hard to move the ball when everyone else is just stationary. Good way to point out the cutting and passing Mo.
