Wow. I am retired RN who worked in L&D/PP for my entire 30 plus year career. Meighan- I finally have seen a true depiction of what working in this area is about. Most people would say to be how great it must be to work with babies all the time. Like we are playing and having so much fun caring for them. Taking care of women on one of their most important days of their lives is an honor. But more than that it is a HUGE responsibility. How is that? Oh my. A woman will remember the birthing day of their babies for the rest of their lives. They will remember their nurse and recount the events of the day that is so embedded in their memories. We have to try and give them an experience that is positive and makes them feel they were in charge-while keeping them safe and secure ending with the best possible outcome. If things don't go our way despite all our greatest efforts-we will recount those efforts and blame ourselves when things don't go as planned. I didn't realize until many months after I retired-how profound our job is.

I would love to know what certification program would you recommend? I’m a new nurse and I’m interested in solely wound care…..

The nurses are the eyes ears and half the brain of the doctors, but where is the money? Oh... that is in the doctors' hands.

As a advanced nurse practitioner in the ICU I agree with everything she said about the ICU

Not to mention your reputation following you. I have seen people get interviews and hired or rejected because of a former coworker or manager at a different company's recommendation or veto. When I was hired, my new coworker's wife's sister was the office manager at the last company and gave a good recommendation.

10-20 patients a day? Where is this and how do I apply. On average I see around 30-40 per shift. 😩

If we want someone to care for us the way we want them to then we need to precept them 💕

I guess fhose nuses that got suked into believing nazi starma propaganda will be asking themselves a few questions now on how they seem less worthwhile than effectively an uber cab driver with a couple kf weeks experience.😊

As an emergency veterinary nurse from Australia i really appreciate this. I have had many conversations with clients of this nature. I have seen critical patients seemingly make progress recovery and then die shortly thereafter. Carers always appreciate transparency. Just remember it's the situation that makes them cry not you. It's unfair to keep the reality of their loved ones situation from them human or furry friend. Be there for them, they need you!
