This is my first time listening. How would you rate NW to the other elite teams in 5A-DII like Irmo and Gaffney? And what are your thoughts on Lewisville compared to the top teams in 1A?

What about the children who will go to those schools next door to the silfab? What about families and their kids who will be leaving with in 1 mile zone..?! You guys are bringing toxicity to our neighbourhoods!

Reckless it was to have school buses running in these conditions. National weather service said not to drive but schools were still open?

What still makes no sense is this land purchased by FMSD in 2017 and 2020 in addition to the adjacent property that would become the location of the Silfab facility was all zoned LI (Light Industrial) when purchased from the Eubanks family. According to the York County Timeline there was an inquiry in August 2021 if solar manufacture was allowed in LI both in the current code and the updated code which was being developed. Planning Staff confirmed it was allowed in LI. In March 2022 the county updated its code and SCHOOLS WERE ELIMINATED AS A PERMITTED USE IN LI (Light Industrial) and ID (Industrial District) "TO MINIMIZE THE POTENTIAL INCOMPATIBILITY OF SCHOOLS WITH INDUSTRIAL SETTINGS." The FMSD then applied to rezone its undeveloped land for two new schools in October 2022 and council granted that request in March 2023 according to the county timeline. The adjacent parcels remained LI. Those parcels were later to become Silfab after the company requested and received a confirmation letter from the county on 12/27/22 that solar manufacture was allowed in LI. So almost a year after zoning removed schools from permitted use in LI due to "potential incompatibility of schools with industrial settings," they simply rezone the school's property and then allow a solar manufacturing facility on the adjacent LI property. What was the purpose of rezoning the school's property while leaving the adjacent property LI when they were trying to eliminate the incompatibility of schools and industrial settings? Why? Obviously it eliminates future issues of schools ending up next to an industrial facility but leaves FMSD, its students and teachers, and impacted residents in the very dilemma the county sought to avoid in zoning changes. And just what would those "industrial incompatibilities" be because they still exist between these two schools and Silfab? Worse yet on recent zoning appeal it was determined that solar manufacturing should not be permitted in LI but county says that can't apply to Silfab only future facilities. So Fort Mill residents are supposed to accept the county allowing Silfab (or any solar manufacturing facility) next door to two schools when they removed schools from LI (Light Industrial) and on zoning appeal find Silfab should never have been permitted in LI to begin with??? Silfab will have storage tanks of explosive silane and Cat 3 chemicals (hydrofluorides) on site which belong in Heavy Industrial and not in Light Industrial or next to two school properties and a densely populated residential area. By the county's own admission on appeal no solar manufacturing facility with toxic chemicals stored on site should be approved for LI but that decision (correction) can't apply to Silfab? Why are residents with legitimate concerns being vilified and why were no community representatives allowed in the WRHI "Community Conversation" broadcast on CN2? This really amounted to nothing but a Silfab infomercial in my opinion. By the way the schools were never mentioned nor the Board of Zoning Appeal and ruling. And according to DHEC there will be more than "just water" as Silfab stated coming out of that 50 ft stack! Will there really be no odor/fumes.....think New Indy (Bowater) and the old Celanese plant. Meanwhile 2 school buildings filled with students will sit about 1800 ft away not to mention apartments and single family residences. While safety is everyone's #1 concern accidents do happen and there was no mention of documented OSHA violations and fines at Silfab's WA facility. Bottom line....this facility belongs in a Heavy Industrial District and not in Light Industrial adjacent to Fort Mill schools and homes.

Bigger question: Can you "assemble" these modules without the use of 3 hazardous chemicals stored on site and trucked in weekly?

Literally described Chemical Manufacturing which is only allowed in ID, not Light Industrial. Defined term of Chemical Manufacturing: Industrial establishment engaged in the transformation of organic and inorganic raw materials by a chemical process and the formulation of products. County made an error, BZA determined it was an error, an error is always an error, they haven’t finished construction, revoke permits. Super simple.

I love the way the interviewer is tossing easy questions at the company representative and making it look like everyone concerned about this plant is crazy. Laughing about the crazy idea of "mushroom clouds". Nobody concerned about this has described it as a nuclear attack. What we are concerned about is pollution into our water supply. We are concerned about the fact that the council members who live far away in York, were so quick to push this on the most populated area of the county. We are concerned that they wanted this built near so many homes and schools when there were many less densely populated areas...many closer to where those council persons live. We are concerned about the gallons of chemicals driving down our roads. Hwy 21 is a hot mess and is about to go through massive construction (if they ever get started). And these trucks will be bringing the chemicals in on a weekly basis. Accidents do happen. I am concerned about his description of Silane gas of simply turning into sand if there is an accident. According to the national library of medicine "Silane is a colorless, flammable and poisonous gas, with a strong repulsive odor. It is easily ignited in air, reacts with oxidizing agents, is very toxic by inhalation, and is a strong irritant to skin, eyes and mucous membranes.". I wish the interviewer had taken this more seriously and not dismissed everything as if concerned citizens were crackpots. His laughter when he over-exaggerated what had been presented was particularly annoying.

Wait, so the Scrubber is similar to the type of scrubber New Indy was supposedly using to release clean air or water vapors?
