Is a Heart Attack a Killer? - Ranking The Tracks Queen - Part 3 Sheer Heart Attack
Video starts at 1:00 in.
Talk Talk, Steely Dan, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, The Clash, Stevie Wonder, Nick Drake?
Dire Straits, Making Movies, Love Over Gold, and then Brothers in Arms.
@@stephenrobinson1648 this was literally #21 on my long list.
All 3 of The Smiles albums released so far are killer.
The Sundays only released three albums and left behind a perfect discography.
Radiohead: The Bends, Ok Computer, Kid A
@@MoralMajority you had me until kid A. However, given how long it took me to get the bends and ok computer there remains hope that this could change. Even if I end up merely liking it, it would make it in, given how terrific then other two are.
@@pockenrop5837 It wasn't until I heard them play Kid A live that it really clicked for me, and I am a self titled Radiohead fanboy, but I now like Kid A just as much as OK Computer and think its a far, far better album than The Bends, but out of all their albums I would say Kid A is the one that needs to be listened to in full. They released a live mini-album of 8 Kid A tracks titled "I Might Be Wrong - Live Recordings" listening to this and seeing them live cemented Kid A for me, I would recommend giving that a listen if you want an entry point for Kid A.
@@pockenrop5837How to Disappear Completely is my favourite Radiohead song and great entry point
The Jam: All Mod Cons, Setting Sons, Sound Affects
Prince- 1999 Purple Rain Around the World In A Day Parade Sign O The Times Lovesexy Epic 6 album run and none really sound similar to each other, so many styles. Unique.
no radiohead kinda crazy:(
I did think that as well but then again Radiohead especially post 'OK Computer' are pretty much an acquired taste.
Costello's "worst" album is still pretty good. He should really have released his version of Wendy James' "Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears". I think all of the demos for that, other than one, are available as extras spread across various reissues.
@@MattMcQueen1 based on how good basement kiss is I'd be down for that. Meanwhile, honestly not loving Coward Brothers album 😭
@@pockenrop5837 not every one is a winner, sadly. He's written some great albums/songs, although I think his best were with the Attractions. If this link works, these are the Wendy James demos. th-cam.com/video/xQieshbrzpI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Gd5IPO8Na2L89zes
Actually - wise up ghost I think is his worst and it's almost entirely unlistenable!
@@pockenrop5837 lol. I haven't listened to that one. Think I'll give it a miss.
Good list. Stevie Wonder had a great five album run: Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life.
@@MattMcQueen1 innervisions to Key were in the top 30 version of this list which I ultimately pared down in the interests of brevity.
😆No Rolling Stones. OK.
@@staggerlee6794 I honestly have never "got" the rolling stones. I've tried - I really have. Aftermath, Beggars banquet, let it bleed, sticky fingers and exile have all made their way to my eardrums over the years but never engaged me.
@@pockenrop5837 As I always say at times like this, we can't like everything.
As far as I understand, you have not listened to all of Dylan's albums. You might also like "Modern times" and "Love & theft" which (not only) in my view are among his best and most loved. As a born again Christian you might also like "Trouble no more (BS 13)" as it covers live versions of his Christian phase that are musically more appealing than most of the studio tracks from this era.
@@franzkoch4872 I have listened to L&T and MT. Neither have (yet) grabbed me. But I am intrigued by the trouble no more set and been tempted to pick it up once or twice.
ZZ Top -Deguello / El Loco / Eliminator
How do you not have Rush? Caress of Steel, 2112, A farewell to Kings, and Hemispheres are the absolute hieght of concept albums, and then you got Permenant Waves, Movings Pictures and Signls. Admittedly they had ten straight bangers off the bat for albums.
Bit of a novelty act arent they.
@@WhatTheHellRecords How novelty acts have 24 Gold, 14 Platinum and 3 multi platnum Records? How many novelty acts are cited as the primary inspiration for an entire generation of Drummers and Bassists? No, if anything is niche you would have to start with Elvis Costello, who is on the list OP put out. Hell even David Bowie is more niche than they are.
A good video and an interesting topic. Agree with your 1 & 2. I've been thinking of some additions (but made me realise how many debut albums I am drawn too). I'd include: Neil Young: Everybody Knows This is Nowhere; After The Gold Rush; Harvest. Paul Weller: Wild Wood; Stanley Road; Heavy Soul. Tame Impala: Lonerism; Currents; The Slow Rush. Michael Kiwanuka: Home Again; Love & Hate; Kiwanuka. Richard Hawley: Coles Corner; Lady's Bridge, Truelove's Gutter. Nick Drake: Five Leaves Left; Bryter Layter; Pink Moon.
Absolutely on the Neil Young and Paul Weller.
love your album tracks ranking series. looking forward to the rest of the queen and beatles ones. would love it if did the same to beautiful south
12:22 "more than a footnight" - right, only now I realize how much I was reminded very subconsciously of my times of a "social dancer" (not very private, in retrospect, I hereby admit and "imagine") ... in other words: that song, Mull of Kintyre (what's the spelling), came out when I went to social dancing classes. Again, you managed to draw me into your speech. Only now I see that this is from, sorry, (quote) dead poet's department. I know some English, they call it "obituiary", I think, in the newspaper. - - - I am truly moved and feel mortal. I once came across an unknown name on the sleeve of that record - all this is very interesting to be told about. Cheers!
Hi, stumblin' in totally bluntly, on proposal of right margin. I think it's no coincidence, but that you deserve being wildly suggested. I am not into the content of your speech. It's your speech that was able to draw me in, that I appreciate as rhythmical and surprisingly poised and worked-out. Righteously, you dare to appear rather informal, if I may say so, interestingly the form matters, and may even be the gesture. Not much need to distract from you speaking so well. Let me please encourage you. To keep it serious is difficult enough.
How can you not include anything from Bad for Good?
R&RW is a fantastic album and so is MMF. Incredible track. R&RW is in my top 10 Dylan albums.
I really like Murder most foul suprisingly! His voice is amazing on Rough and Rowdy ways
Good Job,agree with top 3.
Saw Dylan 2 nights in a row doing Blood on the Tracks
Good review, thank you. Have never heard the album, but you always give a good analysis of the subject. Thx.
The Lovers that Never Were is one of his most moving songs. And that's all I have to say about that.
We almost agree in everything, so glad that you put the Put it there tracks and the masterpiece a leaf! But for me the greatest song of the 90s is Beautiful night!
Loved this video. Can't wait for rest of beatles series along with the rest of the queen series
@@liamness5155 the works is in the can and awaiting editing.
What about "Objects in The Rearview Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are"?? Jim Steiman even said he liked it more than, "I'd Do Anything For Love". Too many great songs from that man. R.I.P. Mr. Jim Steiman!!
Imperial Bedroom is mind blowing!!
Of course it's hot🎉 ! Hot Space! Let's Go!
Belated Happy Birthday! I watched the episode on your birthday, but had to sign off quickly. I enjoyed the episode vm and thought it was a nice idea to do it on your birthday. Thanks again, appreciate the content.
Happy Birthday! What a fun way to celebrate! I'd also have It's a Sin at the top with Are Friends Electric, Back to Life and Running Up That Hill just behind it. It's funny, as you got into the Top 10 I was surprised that you still hadn't got to Bryan Adams. "Does he seriously like Everything I Do that much?", I wondered. I wasn't aware that Any Dream Will Do was still at no.1 by that point so I guess you managed to avoid one over long 90's summer chart topper. BTW, Glad to hear you quite like Love Is All Around.
happy birthday!!
"Little Willow " and "Somedays" I consider to be great tracks from "Flaming Pie".
I’m good with your list and just great analysis too. For me, i would have included Little Lamb Dragonfly, I iDon’t know, So Bad ,& No Other Bay just to name a few. Thank you for an enjoyable video.
I was critized too for mentioning on another podcast that the Ballad of John and Yoko was upstaged by Old Brown Shoe and could have been left off of the Blue Album as it is just not my favorite track. I like You Like Me Too Much also when some do not. I think its a fun song.
I am so glad that you placed "It's Late" at no. 1. It is by far the best song on the album, IMO. This album does not get the credit it deserves, but that is my opinion. Thank you!
Colin Blunstones version of Say You Don’t Mind is iconic
I quite like your weird mind, that was an enjoyable video.Wonderful list. Thank you
1962-1970 John Lennon and Paul Mccartney 1972- 1981 Paul Mccartney and Denny Laine
Thoroughly enjoyed your video! I agree that an album can often be very good and cohesive but that doesn`t always equate to there being many tracks you would put on your Greatest Hits playlist. I often make up an Essential playlist of a singer/band and find that many of my favourite albums don`t have many tracks from it on the list.
Love your format! It's concise and to the point. Also, playing the tracks underneath what's being discussed is the cherry on top! Bubblegum pop, 10cc and 70's Queen were my 3 strongest influences growing up, and I really enjoy your takes on this type of stuff!
Seems more like a tribute to the narrator to me.
I love your input everbody has favourites. I stayed at Titenhurst ( Johns then georges place great studio. When he (Denny was recording Japanese tears. His wife my Auntie JoJo love them both
Nice tribute . Good to hear a informed opinion on Denny Laines songs . Enjoyed it . I’m sure Denny would have too.

Really enjoyed your video good to see people ranking this bands albums! Radio 1 used to do a new singles of the week show which featured special guests..I remember the DJ playing `One of Those Nights` and deliberately not telling the panel who it was by. I believe all of them liked the song though none of them guessed it was Bucks Fizz! Great song and isn`t it a shame that radio stations never play songs such as this anymore because BF are not considered cool. Bad times. Anyway, here is my ranking - 10. OBF - I`ve heard it but don`t find the need to buy it. 9. Writing on The Wall - Always had a soft spot for this album but on a recent listening I discovered it hadn`t travelled well with me. Also like yourself I do not like the different (confusing)variations. 8. Everything Under The Sun - I think this will climb higher. I do enjoy the `looking back` aspect but perhaps that is being slightly overdone here? Hope it`s not but if it is the last album I will forgive and in time reappraise that aspect. I certainly do enjoy and appreciate the album. 7. I Hear Talk - classy sounding album. I know this is highly rated by many and it is a very good album but it has never quite hit the spot inside me that other albums have. Possibly because of a lack of joy? 6. Christmas With the Fizz - really good to hear you talk so favourably about the track `Don`t Start Without Me` which I also rate VERY highly and went straight on my Christmas playlist! I wouldn`t say no to a future release of this album on vinyl! 🤞 5. The F-Z of Pop - stunning `comeback`! 4. Bucks Fizz - Impressive first album! `Piece of the Action`, `One of Those Nights`, `It`s Got to be Love` and `It`s Getting Kinda Lonely` make me think of a time when great pop music was all around and is now sadly absent from the airwaves. 3. Smoke and Mirrors - at time of writing this is for me the bands finest album with Mike Stock. `The World We Left Behind` is a truly great song and also a bit of a choker. I generally loathed the compositions of Stock, Aitken and Waterman but the albums Mike Stock has written/produced with The Fizz tells me he was easily the best of the three. It`s been great to see (Bucks) The Fizz back recording quality pop music since MS took the over the reins. My only wish would be that the singles from these recent albums were actually played on mainstream radio, listened to and bought by the young generation. Unfortunately that will not happen. 2. Hand Cut - Mmnn...like yourself with the first album this might be a slight case of heart over head here. I still find it slightly hard to believe that `When We Were Young` is not on this album? Seemed to be out at the same time. Shame as it would undoubtedly have strengthened it. Even so I have a very soft spot for it and `You Love Love` is a real heartbreaker. 1. Are You Ready - as you said...their best album. Perfect pop album and to this day I still can`t believe that `Now Those Days Are Gone` wasn`t a number one single.
It's your opinion and I don't agree with a lot of what you say. For instance, My Valentine and Get Yourself Another Fool are both better than Accentuate The Positive. As I said it's opinion, you're entitled to yours and I'll stick with mine. I will say this, many of McCartney's albums have never ever gotten the real true credit they more than deserve.
