What got me was Rodman’s terrible performance in this game. Is like if Jordan scored 4 points.

If only there was a way to update the rosters right? That's what I used to tell myself. Then I learned that companies like EA would never allow that even though on average, year-by-year the changes from one version of Madden to the next is not that much.

@@oldschoolgamingnerd Yeah! haha I use to put the players in their right team, mostly... But I remember Rasheed Wallace wasn't good, while he improved as a player.. and Hidden Players was Jordan, Number 62.. and Magic Johnson Number 64.. Later I used them players for Kobe, and I think for McGrady.. So after this game, I got NBA live 04, I played that all the way up to 2010 haha.. So I didn't like to relearn new games every year.. Right now Im playing NBA 2k 23.

Yeah but at that time, it's all we had. The Mame emulator might have been around at that time, but probably challenging to get a hold of the SF2 roms.

Yep. It seems like the team that starts the game with a big lead is the one that will lose. I also find that the game seems to emphasize guard play over centers. I’m still waiting for the AI to play a game where Shaq dominates and scores 70.

This game is like an electronic board game where each side takes turns to move. Each side can move all of their units, choose to attack if an enemy is in range, or just stay put. The combat is mostly like rock-paper-scissors where certain units do better than others based on strengths, weaknesses, and the terrain. There's strategy in that certain units can move only certain distances, or over certain terrain, so you have to take into consideration how fast you're going to move your units across the map and whether or not you should attack. A Playstation era comparison would be like taking a game like Final Fantasy Tactics, and then replacing the characters with military troops and vehicles. If you have access to Gameboy Advance roms, check out Advance Wars 2. It's the spiritual successor to this game but presented in a more colorful, Nintendo friendly vibe.

I like how even on the Gameboy, they got the subliminal 7-Up advertising going with the color scheme.

We know the CPU cheats by breaking the rules, so the CPU vs. CPU should be fair cause both sides can cheat. But, I'm now thinking that some CPU characters cheat more just based on how the AI for each fighter was programmed.

@@oldschoolgamingnerd does the computer also choose the fighters? There was a few more mirror matches this time round.

The fighters and match-ups are all generated by the game. All I do is press start.

What’s great is I have the game going on while I’m working. So I watch it and get all nostalgic…just so happen to also be recording it for everyone else to watch.

Yep. I do like the playability of this version when compared to Alpha 2 on SNES. Alpha 2 looks amazing but has that pause whenever the announcer’s voice plays.

Yeah in this one it’s high. Not sure why other than maybe if rushing with the QB more often increases chance of fumble.

That’s a lot of faith to put into the games AI. I haven’t had a game yet where Scottie Pippen has played close to the MVP caliber season he had in real life.

The controls for the NES version definitely seemed more responsive. As a kid though, I’d definitely bug my parents for this game if a Genesis version had released. I know there’s a Battletoads vs Double Dragon game but I had no idea it existed as a kid.

Of course. Other than I find it fun to post my gameplay videos online (cause I’d be playing anyway even if the videos weren’t posted) my goal has been to earn enough to pay for my Google One account. I think my Dan video from last week made 12 cents so far. My Zangief one made 5 cents.

Emulator (Retroarch). Too challenging to record off my Nomad and I’m too cheap to invest in the equipment to record high quality off the console.

What did you think about the game? I’m only playing the game years after it came out so to me, I’m imagining I would be hyped as a kid to play it and probably would have spent quite a while with the game even though it’s pretty bad compared to Pro Wrestling.

@@oldschoolgamingnerd From what I remember, it was fine at the time. We both loved watch WWF and this fit the bill until the better games came along. We grew up on Atari 2600, so we weren't fussy.

You can try Retroarch for your phone. I use it quite often. My favorite team in this game is Detroit. Isiah and Joe come bomb threes. You also got that crazy frontline where I think Rodman had won Defensive Player of the Year. Looking back on it, would have been amazing if EA added Houston, Utah, New York, and either Cleveland or Atlanta. The best players are already in the game on the all-star teams so it wouldn’t have been that much.

Is why Jordan laughed at him in the Last Dance?

Is definitely different fron the NES and Genesis versions of Batman.
