IMO if the game design of public versus were more customizable/changed (i.e., matching and pointing system) instead of just being a casual styled game mode that's more optimized for players to play with their friends instead of randoms, it would allow more newcomers in versus.

it's because it's post 2020 and anything "nice" can't exist without the lowest of the low to ruin it, sometimes they even party together, gaming has been having a social contagion of generally scummy behavior, not even like being toxic, just griefing or straight up cheating, it's more rare to find someone nowadays who isn't trying to be absolutely brain-dead or pulling any shenanigans

Versus in this game has always been a hellscape. Weird that I feel some minor nostalgia over how shitty the experience was.

what makes this game unplayable is the sweats who just stick together the whole game and treat it like it's life or death, I installed it yesterday, was playing dark carnival and it was just a chill everyone W keying for half the match and it was actually a lot of fun, then new people came in and it just turned into a sweat fest
