Blackburn is now a dump full of scroungers. When I first lived here, it was a nice well serviced town with good shops and a great market. Now it is just like any other place, closing shops and fast food outlets. I lived for 2 years in Witton House in Witton park when I was about 9, watch the Coronation there. The rot started when they pulled it down after we moved to St. Marks road in a council house designed by my dad who worked in the architects dept. Good days then. What happened.

Thank you for uploading. Like a lot of towns and cities the best years are behind. It’s not just the industry that goes, it’s the community as well. Pubs and Social Clubs disappearing also doesn’t help. People talk about progress etc, but in many places progress isn’t apparent! I cannot see how it’s going to be rescued sadly.

Born in Blackburn I spent many happy hours cycling to Ribchester in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After playing by the river we would knock on a door and ask to fill our water bottles, invariably a kindly ladie would produce tea and home made sandwiches or cake for us before we cycled home.
