Yikes. Some good things here, but ... this is not a work to attempt with 33 +/- players. The sound has to be massive in some of the sections of the piece. I agree with another commenter that the horn placement is questionable. In the dramatic maestoso section, the bells need to project into the audience, not the back of the band. Percussion! The percussion parts to this piece are printed in score format and are pretty complex. So many instruments were not covered, with only three percussionists in the ensemble. And one instrument - a guiro, perhaps?, although it was a metallic sound - was used over and over and over. Even with few percussionists, how about some LATIN diversity of sounds? Castanets, bongos, xylophone ... all of these were written by Williams and his intent was that they be played in this LATIN piece. Trombones did not balance the F-major to B-major glissando. This interval of a tritone is challenging to tune, but the ensemble wasn't even in the neighborhood in this performance. Conclusion: poor choice of repertoire considering the ensemble size and the lack of percussionists.

NOt to be disrespectful, but the band seating is not quite to the advantage of the ensemble! May I strongly suggest. Biggest issue are the HORNS. They should NEVER be placed on the right with the lower brass . IN this setting, they belong in the third row LEFT,. Next to them moving to the interior of the band, all saxes (alto, tenor, baritone, bass) Next to them, the Euphonium/Baritones. Back row should be trumpets (2nd, then first, then third). Next to them the trombones. TUba sould be behind trombone on the RIGHT, not center left. This pattern was designed by none other than J. P. Sousa in coordiantion with the same acousticians who designed the original Carnegie Hall. So arraned it makes a HUGE difference in the sound that reaches the audience. Good luck. Dr. Louis A.
