Spring turkey hunting has been something I've enjoyed for several years. Now, the kids are old enough to give it a shot. In this video we share our adventure of trying to get an Illinois public land turkey during your season stretched over the course of two seasons. The weather at this time of year can be anywhere from hot to frigid and we got to experience it all in these two years. The first year we had lots of gobblers around but never managed to get one to cooperate and come to the call. The following year we had a little better luck with getting some action in the decoys, but still weren't able to connect. There's must something about these heavily pressure public land birds that always seems to humble you.
We're already looking forward to trying again next season!
