I would 100% recommend getting mind blast (bottom left corner) for the illithid powers, it’s a mind wave spew attack that potentially stuns enemies really good for crowd control. As for the companions quests, you’re fine you can’t skip their quests in act 3 unless you force yourself to the end,so whether you have them in your party or not you can still complete each companion quest with or without em but obviously you want them with you at the time lmao(you’ll know when you need them)

Y’all should like let me join and help you😅….just playing. But this games a huge learning curve especially when you’ve never played dnd (like me) and this being your first. Few things to keep in mind, that spell that they casted on yall (hunger of hadar) you always wanna target the enemy that is concentrating or it’ll drastically hold back your team. As for the speed potions I’d try and drink them before you enter battle so you still got bonus action before entering battle, goes a long away if you’re a high damage dealer

At least now the terrors of Bide are known and it is a respectable decision to grind over rare candies and a benefit of that would be EVs that you will get no matter how small they may seem. Roark might be a bit harder with these types, but if you get starly to I believe level 14 you can get Staravia with possibly intimidate to help with that.

For when you reset I suggest you check all the possible encounters you could have got. In the route above the town with the Poketch I'm pretty sure you could of gotten a budew or a wurmple and catch another if it doesn't become beautifly. My second piece of advice would be on the potion usage. Craniados was doing 16-18 damage with headbutt while the potion was healing 20. Meaning you were trying to gain 2-4 hit points and risking a 1/16 or 1/32 whatever the crit rate was. You risked that like 2-3 extra times especially considering that you had lowered the speed of the craniados and were either outspending or had won a speed tie earlier. You were doing what seemed to be around 1/3 with bubble each turn and you were likely in torrent at the end which would have given bubble a huge boost in power. Finally leveling / grinding, If you can't take the time to grind I recommend bringing some rare candies into the game assuming it is a ROM or take the time to grind the whole team to at least around the same level.
