Insights through Stochastic Simulation towards Strategic Improvement of Breeding in the Tropics
Dr. Nathan Fumia is a PhD plant breeder and quantitative geneticist who conducts basic and applied research into tropical and subtropical crop species. He is currently the Head of Crop Improvement at the Hawaii Agriculture Research Center (HARC) and manages current breeding programs in public-private partnerships, public funded pre-breeding and genetics efforts, and cooperates with additional staff in experimental trialing and analysis. Nathan maintains a working collaborative relationship with the World Vegetable Center (Shanhua, Tainan, Taiwan) where his primary role is assisting with selection of accessions from vegetable core collections through 'omics and genotype-by-environment interactions.
