    One thing I loved about the intro was the way the normal trope was turned on its head. The top brass military official is asking for some solution to this problem and it's the expert scientist who says "bomb" rather than "we can try for a vaccine!" or "you can't bomb a whole city!"

    Hypomania, and I don't know, I just like the pain somehow. It's wrong but I have to be happy about something. My life isn't even bad- I just suck as a person, I'm always mad. It was just about time I punished myself for it, and pain's kind of my friend now.

    Silco's death... as awful and manipulative as he is, despite how terrible his influence was on Jinx, in his own deranged way he truly loved her, and he did provide her with the unconditional love she craved. Even when she shoots him, his final words aren't telling her to kill Vi, or complete their mission; he doesn't panic about his death and get her to help him, or chastise or question her. His last thoughts are to comfort her, make sure she knows she's loved, and to try to ease her pain. It is the complete opposite of her experience with Vi at the end of Act 1, where in her moment of grief and trauma, the person she loved most turned on her and made those feelings worse. Now this isn't to say Vi in a bad person or Silco is good. Vi was a child with a lot of trauma of her own that was grieving herself, and she lashed out. She regrets her actions and wants to make amends. Silco on the other hand, loves Jinx selfishly, wants to keep her to himself and is willing to lie, manipulate and control her to do so. He wants to shape her so that she will stay with him. This is not a healthy love and you can argue it may not be 'love' in a true sense. But in those moments he gives Jinx exactly what she craves, what she needs. Sometimes to manipulate, but sometimes because he cares. That is what hurts so much about the finale, not necessarily that Silco is redeemed, but the way his relationship, death and everything surrounding that final scene weighs on Jinx. The writing for this show is just incredible, the characters are so nuanced and the storytelling is unmatched in my opinion. I have no idea what to expect in Season 2 but I cannot wait until November.

    Powder jinxing their independence is a direct parallel to her jinxing the rescue of Vander. And in both parallels she also ends up killing her father figures. There was also a big callback when she said "I thought, maybe you could love me like you used to. Even though I'm ... different.", because in episode 2 Vi told her "what makes you different, makes you strong". Or when she wanted Vi to make Caitlyn go away, it was basically like when they were imagining monsters that Vi then had to chase away - which in hindsight, were likely already real for Powder too, that's why she got scared. We can see the red flags of her issues in the intro of episode 1 already on the bridge, but without context it flies over one's head. Same with her codependency issues with Vi when she has her tantrum when they're off freeing Vander. This whole story is such a beautiful tragedy.

    Okay I already commented that I thought it was sad you haven't done series 2 before watching, but now that I have, let me add: The thing you want to know more about - what led to Fleabag doing what she did with Boo's partner - is decidly not what the second season is about, but I do think that we gain a little more insight into that exact thing anyhow. It also deals a lot more with the grief process regarding their mother, with the sister's relationship, the dad and godmother and so much more... God I'm really just reiterating here but I do so desperately want you to react to the second season as well. Pretty please with a cherry on top. 🍒

    Ah stumbling upon this and seeing you haven't yet reacted to season 2, such a shame! I am loving your reactions to/analysis of series 1 so far, and series 2 is a bloody *masterpiece*. I often describe my feelings on it as series 1 being the "set up" in introducing us to these characters, and series 2 being the "pay off", where we see the character development, story arc and emotional arc truly come to fruition. It also really reframes the narrative device of series 1 (4th wall breaks) to something incredibly meaningful and moving. Please please please guve seiees 2 a chance, it is truly art and so so moving and the best way to say farewell to these characters we only just met in series 1. ❤

    This was honestly... Enlightening. I was so stoked with the amount of insight and empzyou had for Fleabag in your first two reactions. But to see you have empathy and think about reasons for Martin and the godmother, whom I was both happy to just loathe, was quite a slap to the face in a good way. Like yes, their actions are shady and hurtful, but to spare a minute to rhink about WHY they act that way is truly - inspiring. That's for pushing for more empathy for people even when their actions might not make us think that they deserve it. It also makes this dhow even MORE thought -engaging and great than I already thought it was. ❤

  • @singenstattatmen5096
    @singenstattatmen5096 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    My God this is such a wonderful reaction. Especially after having recently watched a reaction of two ladies who just kept condemning every single little thing Fleabag did and showing no empathy whatsoever towards why she might be acting the way she was (and also missing all of the humour, but that's beside the point). Looking forward to binging through the rest of Fleabag reactions! ❤

    I think I'm in a trauma bond, but it seems like that maybe I'm the bad guy in this situation because I just want to get out of the misery I've experienced in my current marriage, and so I have tried to leave many times, but kept coming back over and over again and then the cycle starts all over again. I hate that this hurts both my wife and I, but I continue to try and give us "another chance" but maybe it's time to end it once and for all. What do you think?

    Happy to come across this and learn this. My ex fiancee told me she had BPD. She explained how her childhood was traumatic for her. Long story short I seen her push me away and pull me back once a month for about 6 months straight until she told me she needed to end our relationship because she needed time to heal. It's very difficult dating someone with this condition.

    This is the same as saying 'everyone who wants things to be orderly has autism', its focussing on behavioural signs instead of psychological signs, which is nice for people who just want to blame their problems on a selfdiagnosed mental disorder. I have social anxiety disorder and have probably done some of these things, but I didn't need a tiktok to realise I felt anxious in social situations, its not 'I lipbite, so, I have anxiety', its 'I have anxiety, so, I lipbite'.

      stfu it sucks and its even worse when someone like you basically says they don't believe you. i have bpd and its awful when people don't believe me. i always feel like they dont care and i end up snapping, and then get stuck in this loophole between screaming and then begging for forgiveness so they don't leave. bpd is not just that, but thats what i personally struggle with the most. its a very real thing and just because you don't see it in someone, doesn't mean it's not there. most of the time you have to get to know them before you can start to see the signs.

    Even though Vi did not mean to, she did cement Powder’s trauma with those last words she said to her after punching her before leaving her alone in a vulnerable state. “ because you’re a jinx,Mylo was right” then Powder is left alone. Vi and Mylo inadvertently created Jinx. Vi will do what she thinks is right ultimately and even though her goal is to save and protect her sister she can’t and each time she makes a choice the further away she gets from her sister. Making it painful for Jinx to conclude it was Silco who saw her as worth fighting for not her sister. 😢 “ I thought you could love me the way you used to, but you changed too” and Jinx it makes a decision to abandon her past which means abandoning Vi. Powder is gone. Vi will have to live her choices. Which will lead to a conflict between her and her estranged sister and once again she will have to sacrifice Powder to do the right. While Jinx keeps getting more tragic.
