Let's make cool stuff, together.
My Kickstarter failed, so I open sourced it
I recreated my Kickstarter project from a few years ago and this time open-sourced it.
Find the project files here: github.com/StuckAtPrototype/Racer
Its a fun electronic toy car that hides a special power. It has power-ups! I utilize a color sensor and a magnetic switch to trigger fun tricks such as speed ups, slow downs and spin outs. You might have guessed it, yes, its taking a lot of inspiration from Mario Kart!
I hope you enjoyed the story behind its creation, requirements, and assembly!
I love creating electronics projects, especially custom PCBs in my home lab. I have a ton of fun projects planned for the next videos. Subscribe!

Build an onlineshop and offer it as a DIY Kit, would be great!!!
amazing project! we are looking to use this in a stem class to teach students about robotics and so on. The motor drivers seem to be quite expensive. do you think there are alternatives out there that are cheaper? Thank you for an amazing project!
commenting for the algo :))
And You earned a sub.
9:18 🥳🙌🏻
Why did you not actually state what the project was at the beginning of the video instead of just diving into the details of the internals first? Without prior knowledge of the kickstarter project, how are we supposed to know what this is supposed to be?
What is the model of this electric motor?
What is the model of this electric motor?
Nice video,thank you :)
Thank you very much to putting so much effort into a failed project to give it a second life and hopefully much joy for all the great and small kids! ;) What I'd like to see is a way to buy the ready PCBs for the car and the remote so i could tinker around with only modeling some funny car tops to print on my printer or programming some logic for funny gameplay. I hope to see some more things going n on this funny project! Greetings!
Hi very cool project! I'm really considering to build one myself. One question about the pcb design: I saw that the battery charger IC is connected to a thermal resistor, I guess to control the charging current if needed. Isn't it therefore important to have the battery as close as possible to this resistor? Can you tell me something about this? Thank you and best regards from Germany
Looks like a fun toy. I have an Xbox One Controller lying around, that also communicates via Bluetooth. This shouldn't be too much of a deal to get it working with it, right?
Nice project. The ADHD background music is distracting though.
dude thank you so much for make it safe for kids, i will create this awesome project with my son
Cmnt for Algo
Thank you! Maybe consider makeing it compatible with an xbox controller :)
How to get the PCB's? You sell them maybe or?
Sir, can u upgrade it to be able to combine with hot wheel I hope u can make it with more function like to be able to drift, connect with sth like professional controller (u can learn to drive multicable rc vehicles, and build a rc garage ? Hope to see your new videos
Great project!
I just know the game but zero knowledge about this. I enjoyed the video. I wish I have the knowledge to build something like this.
really fun
having your kids as testers seems amazing
So if you're basing the behavior on Mario Kart, does that mean you're going to make it track for it?
I would like to buy three cars or st least the PCB with everything assembled. We are at Germany!! You can do it!!
most of the college goes just bluntly do their course for a degree without realizing its depth, instead of fearing over AI taking their job people should be focus more on making cool fun projects. your channel is a great motivation for those who want to do it for projects.
Real nice!
ohhh my pkcell….
Good soup
would this fall more into an electrical engineer or mechanical engineer category
I need help to have one Ineresting
As a controller, did you consider setting the esp in ap mode and serving a web server(joystick controller ui with basic http/css)?
I'm ginving a look to your Hardware/Racer circuit. I do not understand the usage of JS102011SAQN Commuter. To charge the LIPO I have to switch manually ? Thanks a lot for your work
Hi, great work! Love it that you open sourced it!! Are you maybe able to add Centroid file to Github? It would be great to send everything to pcb service and get more or less ready boards :) Thanks for everything!
A PKCELL

Needs a lot more work in the terms of design
Its a really, really good video. One thing thought. You should mention what the project actually is. If you would have said the one scentence, which is in the descrition box it would have helped to understand what this is all about....
I want to throw 10 or so of these in a combat robot with some spare weight budget. Hand out controllers to the crowd, congratulations, you get to drive one of the mini bots.
Oh man, I’d love to see this!
Merci !!!! tres beau projet !!
This is a great project! Thank you for turning it open source. Have you considered using wheels from HotWheels cars? You can buy packs of 50 (or more) for cheap, and it wouldn't be that difficult to fit them into the electric motor chaft. Besides, you'd also steer away from resin printing.
What motors do you use? I can't figure it out from your GitHub.
omg what a fun dad
I saw your relatively low 26.9k subs and I was a bit confused at how high quality the video is. Especially as it's your first long form video.
is it possible drive the cars itself by using waypoint scripts?
Yes, well sort of. There is no positing feedback, so you can tell the car go x time at y speed. The problem is it might end up in a wrong position. I actually tried integrating chatgpt vision via a webcam and let ChatGPT control the car. Ai is not great at this yet, maybe one day
awesome. Someone do mario kart IRL with this
6:54 for surface mount this is amazing
Dude just pulled out 3d design, embedded design, and Machine learning into just one project. That take 3 engineering degree. Great Work bro.
To be fair as a data scientist you no longer need a degree to do ML. Plenty of smart high schoolers do ML projects now
Wow what a fun video! Gonna try it myself thanks for sharing 😊
This reminds me heavily of Anki Overdrive. Maybe it could work something like that? If you can figure out where the cars are relative to each other you could add virtual "weapons" to them
dope project! what motors are you using for this?
