My Kickstarter failed, so I open sourced it
I recreated my Kickstarter project from a few years ago and this time open-sourced it.
Find the project files here: github.com/StuckAtPrototype/Racer
Its a fun electronic toy car that hides a special power. It has power-ups! I utilize a color sensor and a magnetic switch to trigger fun tricks such as speed ups, slow downs and spin outs. You might have guessed it, yes, its taking a lot of inspiration from Mario Kart!
I hope you enjoyed the story behind its creation, requirements, and assembly!
I love creating electronics projects, especially custom PCBs in my home lab. I have a ton of fun projects planned for the next videos. Subscribe!

    amazing project! we are looking to use this in a stem class to teach students about robotics and so on. The motor drivers seem to be quite expensive. do you think there are alternatives out there that are cheaper? Thank you for an amazing project!

    Why did you not actually state what the project was at the beginning of the video instead of just diving into the details of the internals first? Without prior knowledge of the kickstarter project, how are we supposed to know what this is supposed to be?

    Thank you very much to putting so much effort into a failed project to give it a second life and hopefully much joy for all the great and small kids! ;) What I'd like to see is a way to buy the ready PCBs for the car and the remote so i could tinker around with only modeling some funny car tops to print on my printer or programming some logic for funny gameplay. I hope to see some more things going n on this funny project! Greetings!

    Hi very cool project! I'm really considering to build one myself. One question about the pcb design: I saw that the battery charger IC is connected to a thermal resistor, I guess to control the charging current if needed. Isn't it therefore important to have the battery as close as possible to this resistor? Can you tell me something about this? Thank you and best regards from Germany

    Looks like a fun toy. I have an Xbox One Controller lying around, that also communicates via Bluetooth. This shouldn't be too much of a deal to get it working with it, right?

    This is a great project! Thank you for turning it open source. Have you considered using wheels from HotWheels cars? You can buy packs of 50 (or more) for cheap, and it wouldn't be that difficult to fit them into the electric motor chaft. Besides, you'd also steer away from resin printing.

    is it possible drive the cars itself by using waypoint scripts?

    • @stuckatprototype
      @stuckatprototype 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, well sort of. There is no positing feedback, so you can tell the car go x time at y speed. The problem is it might end up in a wrong position. I actually tried integrating chatgpt vision via a webcam and let ChatGPT control the car. Ai is not great at this yet, maybe one day
